The Warthog is a powerful tool.

I’ve seen several times people here complaining that the Warthogs are useless, I feel they are wrong. Several times I’ve used the Warthog, either as a driver or gunner, and it’s a great vehicle. Many times in BTB, I’ve seen the Warthogs be ignored, but people are missing out on such an effective tool. With a good driver and gunner, you can wreak havoc with it. A few friends and I have used the Warthogs in BTB, and we racked up many kills, and the Warthogs lasted for 2-3 minutes average. However, whenever I play solo, be it on BTB or Warzone, I never see anyone using Warthogs, and whenever I’m using one, nobody else seems to care enough to hop onto it. I’d really like everyone to realize how effective the Warthog can be.

If anyone disagrees, I’m up for debate.

Indeed so.
Warthhogs have always been deadly ever since the Halo 3 days, and this time around it is no different from what it was.
If anything, the new Hog Wild update has given warthogs a bigger presence on the battlefield, and just in general.

In the right hands, the warthog is a force to be reckoned with.

Yeah I actually feel that they can be used very effectively.
I think it’s all about picking your times well. If I bring out a standard warthog at the end of the game then I’m as good as gone because people will have Mantis’ and tanks, but if I bring an Oni out or something I’ve got a better chance.
Or even if I bring out a standard hog at the start, still pretty effective

So. Easy. To. Kill. Gunner.

I didn’t know that people had believed the Warthog to be underused, it was surprising what you brought up in the OP. As the only complaints I have ever heard or read have been around the Scout-Hogs. “They can’t do anything but get from location A to location B.” Which I always reply with that’s what they’re meant for.

I would just say for the gunner to press “A” and switch seats when they get into a sticky situation.

That’s where the seat switching mechanic comes into play. When the gunner is low on health, he can switch to the passenger seat, and therefore, he is a smaller target. However, a good driver is able to reduce the damage inflicted on his gunner.

Problems with that are:

  • Gunner can die before he can switch
  • Gunner can die in passenger seat still
  • You assume the warthog is not full and seat switching is possibleSadly these are a little too common, but switching seats is still the best way to stay alive.

Warthog, Yes. Scout variants, not so much.

I’m just mad that they replaced the Troop Warthog with the Scout one, which only has TWO seats!!!

it is very good in ctf nice protection for the carrier

nothing was saving this gunner

Not in halo 5 it isnt…

Everybody has a br or a pocket dmr.

The gunners lifespan in 30 seconds. (Maybe)

Now that neon speed warthog is good for splattering.
Or oni scouts to be annoying.

Why can’t a third person take a seat on the back of a scout?

Jorge style with a turret! (Scout hogs)
Gives it unlimited ammo or something.

Plasma and promethean turret on a scout?

If your team has even semi-competent players and brs, say goodbye.

Any warthog is good. I even love scout warthogs! With the new Rally Hogs, I really want those now.

I agree with the OP. You can get access to these vehciles from the start of Warzone. They’re only a level 2 REQ and you can put a heavy chain gun and three person transport into the game really early. I always spawn one, grab a gunner and go splattering. They can also get you and two friends into the opponents armory in seconds. They’re great for running and gunning the enemy to distract them from your team or an AI boss.

Yes, the chaingun has less protection for the gunner and needs a slight buff plus it’s a little too bouncy but that’s balance.

Think of it this way. At level 3 you can spawn a Battle Rifle OR an ONI Warthog which is basically a high speed tank with The Answer on board!

I’ve been on the bad side of 3 oni’s early in the game. It’s true that only half the team is protecting bases but the warthogs keep the enemy’s heads down and pick off loners easy. They can wreck.
