It was feasible to have the Ur-Didact captured and somehow linked to the Domain to heal the damage done from the Gravemind, esp because He was opposed to wiping out all life with the Halo’s, despite misplaced Aggression towards humanity in not realizing they were trying to escape the flood.
No doubt, his Villain role in Halo 4 was due to Gravemind torture plus failed flood immunity test and the Librarians failed attempt to have him linked to the domain while in Stasis which made it worse. If fixed, the Ur-Didact could be a powerful ally against the flood, choosing to work with humans against the threat, which is why the Gravemind used him rather than consume him just like Mendicant Bias.
He certainly was more interesting by far than what we have seen of the Harbinger, and should have had or have some presence in the Saga going forward.
Faber seems more like a True Villain, wheras the DIdact was messed up by the Gravemind torture.

AI go into Rampancy because they reach the limits of their processing power and keep trying to exceed it. The Domain helps with rampancy, because the Domain contains boundless processing power.
The Ur-Didact’s madness is related to the Logic Plague, the Flood attached a copy of, or link to the mind that governs the Flood onto the mind of the Didact. Connection to the Domain wouldn’t fix that. The Librarian’s hope when she put the Didact into his Cryptum was that he would meditate on the wisdom of ancient Forerunners, but that wisdom is no longer stored in the Domain, because it was wiped out by the Halo Firing.
I think there’s a lot more to know about the Harbinger. I’m convinced she used her knowledge to manipulate the Banished into a frenzy that would ultimately take them further from their goals. I think her speeches to Master Chief were theatrics, crafting a narrative in which a new threat rises, and humanity will have to rise to defeat it.
