The ups and downs of this update...

First off, there are some GREAT things about this update…but also some terrible things.
Ups:
New maps! (Woo! More Map rotation!)
SPNKr Rocket Launcher (Thank you <3)
More Armour
Aim acceleration options! <3

Downs:
The Battle of Noctus Bosses…Why did you give us 2 Warden eternals? Whose idea was THAT?
Overgrowth: The map designed for camping. You put the shotgun right next to an active camo. WHY
What did you do to FFA

I loved FFA…but 6 player really doesn’t work imo…
It turns FFA into a camp fest and doesn’t get rid of the kill someone then get shot and kill immediately
Why doesn’t it fix that?
It’s FFA…it would still do that at 3 players!
It does NOT work! It promotes alot of camping!
And when coming with lag (EU problems) it doesn’t help!
For anyone who is tempted to say “you’re just salty” I’ve won one of my games, after a ton of camping!
You’ve actually RUINED FFA imo!

That’s the thing, kill steals are still there.

Love the update so far, love the little things they tweaked. The new game modes they added are fun and i love how BTB is unranked. I have yet to play on overgrowth. Really looking foward to that map.IMO Halo 5 is amazing, I pretty much love everything about it. I really dont have any complaints. If anyone wants to squad up with my friend and i you are more then welcome. We should be on pretty much all of the upcoming week. Message me here if your interested

I’ve only played the Forge and Warzone parts of the update. I love the options with Forge, but I wish the controls were somewhat more simplistic or more like the older forge controls. Also, I’ve noticed there are times where the game lags in Warzone, but only for 1-2 seconds. Personally, I’m just happy the real rocket launcher is back (Go team SPNKr Rockets!!!)

FFA should have been at 6 to begin with imo. They just fixed it.

They’re always going to be there and the same goes for camping. Game devs can’t prevent this. They can make it harder by tweaking little changes (weapons, maps, players) at the end of the day there is no sure fix. 8 players in FFA was difficult. The maps were too small and the players were too fast. It sped up the pace of FFA and it just wasn’t satisfying to keep up with. Getting into a magnum battle with another player right off spawn, both of you become one shot and then some opportunist walks up and takes both of you as kills. That was 8 player FFA.

I am so happy FFA is now only 6 players. Most of the updates I am happy with, the ones I have seen anyway. Most of them I won’t even experience because I stay in Arena and play a lot of swat and FFA.

At first I was a little peeved with resetting the ranks, only because I wasn’t aware (I don’t keep up with Halo news, I’m a casual player and probably only play 2 or 3 hours a day) so I didn’t understand the reasoning. I see why it was done after coming here to read up on the updates. Call me a noob, but how do the matchmaking algorithms work with calculating who you are matched with? Apparently since the ranking system was already a bit twisted, I am not as good as I thought I was, even only being a gold 2 on swat for instance, I did decent and had a steady balance of wins and losses (though I lose more than I wish, 40% wins on team matches.) So after the update, I played a bunch of matches and am getting annihilated. Am I being matched with prior Onyx and champion ranked players? I won 2 matches the last hour, and our team annihilated them. There isn’t a happy medium to having a good match at this point. I’m sure this will make me into a better player, and it will ease off some as I fall into a rank.

Oh, and hooray for team doubles!!!

I also thought that the 6 player ffa isn’t as good as 8 players in my opinion. I played one game of it and got four kills with 12 deaths. Maybe the enemies were just better but I think I did a lot better with 8 players

I LOVED keeping the pace up with 8 way FFA…

With this update it is impossible to find matches for those outside North America :frowning:

I think we should be happy that alot of the stuff there added is free it shows 342 cares

Six players are better as games could go slower, allowing for people to have a chance at coming back.

Pros
-New aiming options are great
-Forge finally being here is awesome
-Overgrowth looks amazing visually
-A lot of the new reqs look cool
-FFA is now actually playable with 6 people instead of 8.

Cons
-Overgrowth plays terribly. Mainly due to the overabundance of 1sk CQC weapons. Shotgun right next to camo? Seriously?
-Social playlists aren’t really social playlists. It seems they use the exact same search parameters as ranked. Which defeats the purpose.
-Holiday “social” has way too much snipers and on maps that have no business being played with snipers.
-No warzone assault variant of Noctus
-Not displaying past seasons’ ranks in game makes playing ranked feel utterly pointless as it’s just going to get wiped away in the next reset with no record of it in game.

6 player FFA is a lot better than 8 man. Sure kill stealing is still there but it’s not near as bad. Camping has been in fps since they started so it’s nothing new.

The only down in this update is the direction I’m moving Forge blocks.

6 man ffa is boring and slow, theres no fun. Im not saying 8man was perfect but at least there was something going on. 6 man ffa is dumb, some maps are too big. The only problem with 8man was the spawn, and instead of trying to fix it or add spawn points they just went the lazy way and removed 2 players. The only good map for 6man is Pegasus and even then it has nothing to do with the OG 8 man.

More armor is always better…
Haven’t gotten to try the 6 man ffa…liked 8 man tho
