The UpdateEveryMonth Schedule was awful.

343 I appreciate the amount of skins, cosmetics, and weapons that you gave us through the time of the monthly updates, but everything else seemed rushed. Gametypes either took forever or didn’t get enough focus. At first I was a -Yoink- and assumed you all were slow lazy Yoinks. But then I saw the new content update info. AND my mind blew over all the good content and fixes that were coming to Halo 5. Fixed Aiming, More Warzone Gametypes, Cat Skins(lol). It’s just fantastic.

Although sure the monthly thing was alright, it was the only way to bring people back to Halo throughout the year. Personally I think Halo 5 would have dropped lots of the players if it weren’t for the monthly updates. And I’m glad they took their time in forge because so many people have created masterpieces. The game industry itself is leading into a direction of monthly updates or cutting the game up into “DLCs” and micro transactions. But I’m glad 343 isn’t charging us for the content like cough cough Destiny and Star Wars Battlefront.

The quality was pretty terrible but the concept is sound. Keep people coming back and keep them having fun. I can’t be upset with it unless…you know, it’s terrible content.

Again as I’ve said many times before. I’ve never paid for a DLC I hated.I’d rather spend 10 bucks every 3 months for good maps then wait then get recycled maps every month. If anything made me stop playing Halo 5 faster it was that everything felt the same.

Yup, only thing that gave people a tinge of interest. Now the updates have all but stopped and Halo is dropping lower on the most played, currently around 20th place. So I agree with the OP, monthly updates were a mistake.

The monthly updates were a rushed mess that needed more time and arguably some should have been in the game since launch but they did maintain the population.

As much as the monthly updates were appreciated, I’m sure they learned that releasing a full game at launch will have player retention…

What gametypes felt rushed? Grifball, action sack, and infection didn’t feel rushed to me.

In retrospect I wish they would have had a huge drop every 3 months. Basically build up 3 months of updates and release it all at the same time. The updates that happened between these huge drops should have focused on community stuff like adding community gametypes and Forge maps.

It would have been a lot better, and made the updates feel more substantial. Imagine getting 3-5 maps, close to 100 new REQ items, plus whatever else they were going to release. It would have had an actual impact on the game. Instead they released 1 map that people weren’t even able to play for days sometimes because of the rotation system.

According to Gamecheat13, a Youtuber, they are adding 2 or 3 new Warzone modes. CTF Warzone, Bomb Warzone, Mythic Firefight, REQ Slayer and Gunfight or something like that. Hes been pretty much 100% accurate so far as I am aware. He looks into the files or something like that on PC.

I don’t mind him modding a game he has paid for, but I do wish he would ask 343 before he leaks stuff like that.

People are going to be like:

"343! Were’s WZ CTF!

Then 343 would have to release a half-finished version, just to keep up with demand.

I mean how well known is the guy? I know that HaloFollower have spread the stuff hes done but I haven’t seen too much on the forums.

the monthly updates are the only reason i played h5 in 2016. i started it every month once to look at the updates and quit after a few rounds because i was bored and waited another month for the next update (some months i didn’t even see the new stuff, because i was bored before i could see it)

it’s not a sign of quality for a game, if the only way to keep people interested is releasing updates on a regular basis. especially if thats the only reason for people to come back. (i’m sure i am not alone)

don’t get me wrong, if you like h5, thats totally fine with me. have fun playing it. different people, different opinions. just wanted to point out my view of monthly updates.

I assume he’s quite well-known, as there’s “a lot” on Halo stuff on his channel.

Yeah the game at launch was very lackluster compared to say Battlefield 1. Even just from a graphical or technical level. 64 player games, vast destructible environments, just stunningly beautiful visuals and textures. An inoffensive campaign.
