The upcoming Halo Infinite Waypoint update

About a year ago, 343 teased that there would be a Waypoint overhaul to coincide with the release of Halo Infinite. Seeing as how the game is delayed until next year, that update likely is as well. So, in the meantime, let’s discuss! What features do you want to see? I really hope they don’t get rid of these forums, since they told us to archive any posts we don’t want to lose:

> That means if there are any forum posts that you wouldn’t want to get lost to the ether, we’d encourage you to start thinking about saving them for your own records just in case.

I know there can be negativity here a lot of the time, but it’d be a huge bummer to lose this place. Lord help me, I am not going to Reddit to post things about Halo Infinite or MCC.

I think the easiest ask is to keep the current features we all know and love while adding the new things they want.

One thing I’d like to see is the “like” system contributing to your forum rank in some way. The current system encourages thoughtless posting since your progress is tied to only the quantity of posts.

I could easily bump up my post count without contributing anything of value to the discussion…but I try not to (and that is why I’m sitting at Marine - Gold )

I would love for waypoint to become an app again. Or maybe update the Halo Channel app to become the Waypoint app? Easier access to the forums on my phone is all I want really.

An app would be good, as well as a less archaic mobile interface and a renewed stats/profile interface.

I am really hoping they don’t update it to be a reddit style system where the most upvoted threads percolate to the top. The Bungie forums went with that style and now it’s impossible to find anything that isn’t a mega thread. I like the current style, it’s much less chaotic.

Honestly, my biggest ask is to neaten up the textarea where you input your forum posts to work a little bit neater on mobile. Things like applying links, or setting text to bold is a little tedious, particularly when you want to do it at the end of a paragraph and the hyperlink continues down into a new paragraph. It’s a real pain that.

I like the ambiguity of how a post is received here, if someone says something you disagree with, you have to respond. Unlike on reddit where you just start a downvote train. I’m hoping that remains and current like system does too.

God, if there’s any example of how not to do a game forum, it’s the Bungie forums. It’s become such a hellhole that they don’t even try to moderate unless it’s something really serious. It’s no wonder the Destiny community has gotten so bad: all anybody sees on those forums is negativity and flame wars.

I’d like to see threads auto-lock after 12 months of inactivity so the mods don’t have to waste their time when people necro-post.

If you want to bring up a topic from a locked thread, trying to do so would start a new thread that automatically quotes the original thread in your opening post.
