The UNSC Rubicon-your opinion.

Here’s the Halopedia page for it. You can read that to catch up on what happened to it, unless you’ve read Primordium, in which case you already know.

A small summary, Chakas as the monitor 343 Guilty Spark told the crew of his life story before becoming a monitor, including the Precursors and the Primordial, then put them to sleep to take their ship and find the Librarian. As it stands, the crew are the only humans that know about the Precursors (for now).

I have the feeling that this ship isn’t just meant to disappear, or shown blown up in a comic (though that doesn’t seem far off given the nature of them) but will make a return at some point.

My mind buzzes with possibilities, but I’m not here to listen to myself. I want your opinion. I want your ideas. I want your theories.

I assume that Chakas/Guilty Spark is mistaking Chant-to-Green for the Librarian. I also assume that she and the other remaining Forerunners isolated themselves on Path Kethona. So…Rubicon is headed toward Path Kethona (if it can even make such a journey…)

Good point. I wonder if Path Kethona will show up in a future game, same for Charrum Hakkor (there was a Halo 4 map in the Hakkor system)

Quite a few things. The only way the Librarian could be alive, is if she locked herself away in a Cryptum within Mt. Kilimanjaro where she was. We have nothing from what I recall that says what she did after sending the message to the Iso-Didact, so while improbable…it’s not impossible.

As for Path kethona, does Chakas actually know about it?? I thought the only people that knew were the Librarian, her crew and the person who took her statement.

Path Kethona seems to be his most likely destination provided that that’s where the remaining Forerunners are (which is also extremely likely).

And if the Rubicon could make it to the Ark without the slipspace portal off (presumably) its own slipspace drive, it’s not much of a stretch to assume that it could make it to Path Kethona.

I hope this arc gets resolved in Halo 5. I’ve missed Spark.

From Silentium:

“A single Halo—Omega Halo, our ancilla tells us—remains in parking orbit, aimed toward Path Kethona.”

“The multidimensional radiated field stretches out, as designed, to Path Kethona. Massless, subtle, deadly, it will cross that great distance in mere instants. Halo energy does not recognize space and time.
Path Kethona is already dead.”

Wherever Spark is taking them, Path Kethona seems like a really bad place to go looking for any living beings.

EDIT: I forgot that the Librarian was still in possession of the Audacity after Kethona got nuked, although Silentium is super unclear as to who actually has it at the very end. I suppose it’s entirely possible that either Chant got it or the Librarian still had it at the end and booked it off Earth right before the Halos fired, but right now it’s extremely vague.

That said, given how much time is devoted to explaining the complexity needed to build the Audacity, I think that it’s fairly unlikely that any other post-Array Forerunner ship would be able to be produced that could travel to Path Kethona, let alone the Rubicon.

343i has laid so many tracks for the future of Halo. I hope they find a way to bring them all together in the final, and still maintain a degree of Halo’s mystery when it’s all said and done (if that ever happens).

I truly hope we see Chakas in the future. I don’t know when we’ll hear from him next, but no doubt it will be an awesome return. I’m happy to hear he’s still alive.

I wonder, if the UNSC Rubicon made it back to human territory (or it was discovered) what would be done about Chakas and the info he gave?

I don’t know where they are headed, my theory was that he was going where Chant-To-Green and Bornstellar are. I can’t wait for this to get added onto. I wouldn’t mind this and the Spirit of Fire / crew of the SoF not being solved for a long time, but leaving hints for us every once in a while.

I think it would be fairly interesting if the spirits that are within some of these humans took control, much like the way the Ur-Didact took control of Bornestellar. It would make for a fairly interesting story.

My question is though, how did they obtain Guilty Spark (Chakas)? Wasn’t he destroyed at the end of Halo 3 with a halo ring that is also being destroyed? That continues to confuse me. It may be answered in Silentium, but I haven’t read it yet, so I really can’t say for sure.

To my understanding, he was not completely destroyed and he was scavenged when the Rubicon was exploring the remains.
