The Universe being a living entity-it works how?

One of the craziest things mentioned in the Forerunner Saga is that the Precursors understand that the Universe itself has a self-awareness, that it is an entity not understood by lesser minds. That this awareness/entity is enriched by ever-changing life. This is pretty crazy, and within the past few years in the real world there have been some scientists that have pondered and think this may be the case. How do you think the Universe having an awareness/being an entity works? Yeah, it’s crazy but let’s have some fun.

Another garbage piece of lore tossed in because of this whole fixation to make a un-needed book series feel more special than it really was. At best, it’s the Gaia Theory on a universal scale. At worst, its The Force.

No matter what though, it’s dumb as hell.

Jeez someone’s having a great day!

That would be a really interesting thing to look at in more detail. I know that there are many theories, one of them being that the universe is always expanding but will one day stop and begin shrinking. It would be one of the most mind boggling concepts to actually get your head around though. I love the Halo Universe just for the fantastic places it can transport your imagination to, if you let it.

Really cool post!

The question of what sentience is has kept philosophers and scientists busy for centuries. I don’t think there is an universally accepted answer yet.

Well if the Precursors truly have infinite forms then one of them could actually be the universe that Halo takes place in. The idea is similar to Panpsychism or a cosmic version of animism.

I think the Precursors’ idea about the universe itself being alive has to do more with how space-time heals after being ripped open for slipspace travel. Generally speaking, things that aren’t alive don’t heal. So it’s a fair assumption that in the Halo universe, space-time itself may be a sort of living being. And consistent with the Precursor ideology, they utilized Neural-physical transportation to slide between realities so they could traverse space faster than light without damaging space-time.

Yeah possibly. I mean the universe would need to have a way to repair itself from FTL travel or else paradoxes occur everywhere. Could be as you said. At the moment I’m going with the universe being a Precursor. I mean if they have infinite forms, then at least one universe has to be one or else they don’t have infinite forms.

Interesting idea, may be the case. With it being revealed that they’ve been around before the stars came into existence, I think it’s likely that they created the entire Universe itself.

That is a heavy implication yes.
