The ultimate playlist setup

With the news of a Title Update, I decided to share my thoughts on what I think would be a better playlist establishment. As of now it’s a mess. (Sidenote: As of July 18 2011, Halo: Reach has 23 permanent playlists.)

Ranked (Arena ranking system in addition to current Reach ranking system.
Team Slayer - 2 teams of 4 players each. (DLC req.)

Team Objective - 2 teams of 4 players each. (DLC req.)

I understand the removal of some permanent playlists would anger some, but in the long run I think it would be more beneficial to Reach to compact the playlists

Arena - The New 1-50.

Any kind of ranked playlist will use that.

I agree that the Halo Reach playlist system is pretty bland and does not give players the option to play a favorite gametype or only use certain weapon. I also think they should bring the ranked and social options back in future titles but they should leave the games like grifball, and living dead as permanent playlists so players wont get bored.

Arena is a failure of a ranking system that is nothing but a gimmick. This is the first season I played Arena and was ranked. I didn’t go tryhard mode or try much at all. I made 40% Onyx by solo running it and then 25% by playing 3 games with friends. I’ve played under 50 games this season. Getting a 30 in Halo 2 would be harder than getting a 1%. Case closed.

And the point you people will never understand, change is change.

1-50 is non-existant in Halo Reach and never will exist.

I can change my clean underwear for a dirty pair but that doesn’t mean it was a good decision.

I disagree with almost everything. And Double Cr Weekends = No

In no way did I claim it was a good change, I stated 1-50 won’t happen in Reach.

I like the concept of bringing back separation of ranked and social lists, but there could still be some work. I think Invasion as a playlist should be phased out completely, rolling it into BTB. SWAT and Snipers should be consolidated as well. Seeing as how unpopular Team Objective currently is, I would consider removing it and rolling some objective into Squad Slayer. Co Op Campaign should also be phased out.

Creating Double Cr Weekends is definitely a good step, putting the specialty playlists where they belong, but the Super Jackpots should still be implemented.

While I agree a visible ranked scale of 1-50 should be brought back, I disagree with your playlist line-up completely. I suppose it is simply because my tastes are so different.

I like this setup. I really think we should have weekend playlists (living dead, action sack) that aren’t available during the week, so more people populate other playlists. Good post.
