I read on this web site Here that the United Kingdom is paying more for the Xbox one for reasons that Microsoft couldn’t explain.
Like most people in Britain I do love halo, but we are not dumb enough to empty our bank accounts for it.

We are not dumb enough to empty out banks for it, but we have no other option unfortunately. They have done this before, and they most likely will continue doing it.
UK > Everywhere else.
Edit: By they, I mean Sony, Nintendo etc aswell
We’re paying $170 more. £429 is $670, we’ve got it worse than any region. I’ve seen some places pay like $50 more than the US, but this is really pushing it.

Well, not that much more worse. The EU with the € pays 665$, that’s 5$ less, not really a difference.
I heard in a talk with a certain Superintendent here that a Xbox One in Zambia (or Namibia, not sure) would only cost 9 cents there.
Anyway, like I mentioned in my thread, it’s not really fair imo.

> That’s reminds me of something else, the Xbox 360 was £279.99 on the launch date, I just bought it because it was a fair deal but before the price was announced for Xbox one I assumed I was going to be buying it for at least £350, but £429 is just too much and if Micro $oft just did the right thing and made the price equal as it should be then id have no problem I would gladly buy it.

Yeah I commented the same thing in your thread too lol.
As a British Citizen, I advise we send a message with our wallets.
Don’t buy it on release, buy it either when the price goes down or a used one.
The reason they do this is because many don’t realize how different they are because of exchange rates.
I hope this message gets about.

What are the price differences for the PS4 and Wii U in the UK? Is it only Microsoft doing the gouging or is it equal among consoles?

Scroll down a bit on that link, there is a price comparison between the Xbox One and PS4 and it talks about VAT and stuff like that.
As for the Wii U, I can’t seem to find its original retail price in GBP.

It just occurred to me…
Are we even sure we can get a used Xbox One without trouble? Like, “This unit is tied to John Doe’s account. Log in as a guest or contact Microsoft support to change ownership of the unit.”
Do we have any input about that?
you guys must make more money over there or something because everything is more expensive over there. Anyone that’s gone on vacation from the US to the UK will tell you that in general everything is more expensive. I’m sure there’s a technical economic reason for this. Hopefully someone knows because i’ve never really understood it.
Edit: Did not click on Bead Head’s link before writing the above. That seems to be the answer.

Just when you thought it couldn’t get any worse…

You… you wouldn’t think they would do that…would they? I mean… one thing would be digital games, but the console itself?
There’s really no info on this, is there?
I live in South Africa(right next to Namibia) and I can assure you it’ll cost more than 9 cents… WAY MORE…

Us taxes aren’t showed in the price like yours, us taxes are way lower, shipping costs, could be other stuff too, some countries charge games more just cause and there could be things like tariffs. Most of the time it is the countries fault.
I heard a rumour that the PS4 is region free.
If the Xbox One is, then you could just buy it from the states and have it shipped over.

Excellent article, thanks.
“£349 ($546) for the Playstation and £429 ($671) for the Xbox.”
So both Sony and Microsoft add a similar additional cost and 20% of that extra cost goes to taxes. Both companies claim the rest of the cost goes to offset potential fluctuations in exchange rates. It is just cheaper to do business in the US.

But can we buy them used? Or do the consoles come with one time use only -Yoink- as well?
