What types of MP maps would you like to see in Halo 4?
By type I mean the look/architecture/theme that defines the map…would you like more maps set on Forerunner structures, like Haven, or maybe maps set in natural settings, kind of like the first campaign trailer we’ve seen.
I’m hoping for at least a couple of urban themed maps. Turf from Halo 2 was one of my favourite maps from any Halo game. Ghost Town from Halo 3 is another past favourite of mine.
Hopefully a good varienty, thats all I care about.
In Reach you seem end up playing so many forge world maps, it gets dull very quickly and feels like youre playing the same map constantly. I heard somewhere there may be 3 forge world variants on H4? If so that would be awesome…
I just hope the out of the box maps are good, and are aplenty. On Reach if you dont play BTB theres only 6 on the disc maps (excluding forge world) which was really cheap of Bungie IMO.
More on topic… I like forerunner and covenant maps the most, eg Construct/ Narrows from H3, Zealot from Reach.

I think it’s three different palettes for Forge items…which would be nice.
Hopefully Forge maps wont be as prevalent in regular MM. Some of the truly standout maps should be included, of course, but a lot of the ones on Reach were just terrible. Like the map designer thought that including every power weapon would make a good map.
Maybe a separate set of playlists (Slayer, Objective and BTB to keep things simple) to show off some community maps…
I figure the maps can’t nearly be as awful as Reach’s. I do hope there are 3 different forge ‘skins’ like y’all are saying. I loathe Reach b.c. of the Campaign inspired maps. I thought it was incredibly lazy and none of the maps flow right, IMO. I honestly don’t like ANY of the maps Reach introduced, especially the Forge World ones. I’m not against Forge maps in multiplayer but I know I’m beyond sick of the same looking maps in Reach. I’m all for some urban maps or jungle maps. I loved Turf in H2, also. As long as I don’t have to stare at grey/blue all day lol.

I liked the Reach maps, some of them anyway. I got sick of the Forerunner items as well.
Here’s a quote from halopedeia;
“Forge returns in Halo 4 as an improvement from its previous iteration in Halo: Reach. The duplication tool has returned from Halo 3, and selected objects now glow a certain color depending on what type of object is selected for better precision. The feature now supports dynamic lighting on Forge objects, enabling each individual pieces to cast shadows. It features additional tools for user for map-making such as the ability to link Forge objects seamlessly through the use of the magnet utility and adding trait zones (such as enhanced movement and gravity). More Forge objects have been added to the sandbox to provide variety to the map-making experience. Infinity ordnance will be a customizable feature.”
I’m sure 343 have said it will feature more palettes for items, with an emphasis on human design…
Big natural settings with two bases, like sandtrap and valhalla in Halo 3. Even in Slayer it gives you the feeling that you are actually attacking the enemy base, instead of just searching for kills.
So far I’m loving Longbow.
Definitely urban. Headlong was a good example of how Halo could work in an urban environment, and it impressed. I was sad to see them pretty much go from multiplayer.

Truth. Urban would be an excellent environment along with a Snow and why not a Sand one too. Just change it up so I don’t only see blue/grey and rocks. Please lol.
I’m praying there’s be a gonna be a good mid size asymmetrical jungle themed map in at least 1 halo (specific I know but we don’t see very many good asymmetrical maps plus close to no jungle themed maps)

True. A lot of the good asymmetrical maps were in older Halos; Turf, Relic, Guardian, Ghost Town, to name a few. Reach’s asymmetrical maps were a bit lacking. Part of the problem with Reach was that red team seemed to have the best spawn, no matter the map. Apart from Pinnacle.

I want maps that have good separation management. Not incredibly open (The Cage/Uncaged), not incredibly enclosed (Swordbase).
I want at least one map like Chill Out. A simple room based asymmetrical map, with multiple power weapons and good use of teleporters.
TELEPORTERS: Bungie completely abandoned teleporters in Halo: Reach. Teleporters could have benefitted Swordbase greatly. Without teleporters, Wizard/Warlock (The most versatile map in the series) would have been impossible. I hope 343 keeps an open mind, like Bungie did with H: CE.
Map variety: I’m sick of seeing people play 1v1s on maps that were designed for 4v4 gametypes (Lockout, Midship, Warlock, Guardian, Sanctuary, Zealot). In H: CE, there were maps designed for various player counts. In Halo: Reach, they are all meant for 4v4 or 8v8.
As far as texture/theme goes: I love a good old fashioned arena look with simple textures, but I know Bungie/343 need their texture heavy maps to appeal to the masses.
