The Tutorial Mission has me hopeful for the return of Spartan Ops

I was just cleaning up some achievements and it occurred to me just how much polish and effort was put into the intro cinematic and world building of the Training area. This all lead me to one thought: this would be a great intro to Spartan Ops.

Anyone else wanna see these missions return?

Spartan ops with unlocking customizations, and actual upgrades section for our Spartans in that mode…man that would be amazing. If its just play missions get from point A to point B it’s not that exciting for me though. I really like the idea of having a character become strong and grow over time. The campaign tac Map with that upgrade section had me hopeful of something like that being in the multiplayer for a new game mode. Probably just severely wishful thinking on my part tho

That was my thought too. The framework is already there for gradual levelling and expansion of your character. And the map is far better suited to something like this than just repeating arenas like they did in Halo 4. This really seems like the ideal game for something like that. Maybe when they add campaign co-op?

i also really like the sound of this idea, also

I’d love it bro. Tbh I didn’t bother with some of the campaigns because I just don’t like that there’s no progression to the character. Don’t get me wrong, I played some. The last one i actually completed was halo reach though. I’m much more into campaigns like mass effect. Skill trees , leveling up, an inventory etc. Halo is a fps game, different, but this one with the upgrade section and having to scavenge makes it exciting to me. Something multiplayer related would be so awesome.

You’d think I like destiny from saying this stuff but I’ve always disliked its gameplay. Halo is my baby in terms of fps gameplay.

destiny does some things pretty well. I like the Sparrows, and Icebreaker was one of my favorite snipers from any game ever, but ultimately, the gameplay just felt samey, the world didn’t feel like there was a secret behind every corner, the way I had come to expect from Halo, and the enemies were uninspired Halo knockoffs. Even my favorite race, the Cabal, just didn’t have anything visually striking about them.

On the other hand, the first time I beat Vault of Glass was seriously one of my favorite moments in any FPS ever. No other raid ever really clicked the same way for me, but I loved that one at least.

Was that year 1 destiny? I’m like in the same boat lol. I did have some memorable experiences. I played It on pa4 though…I cant remember why. I still have the limited ghost edition box, a huge hanging display I got from game stop, I even waited in the release line for the game. I was over hyped. I remember watching these simpsons marathons on TV and they’d constantly be showing advertisements for destiny and I was more than ready for it.

Gameplay sucked. Reticle blooms for stupid reasons…can’t hip fire without bloom…can’t jump without bloom…crouch didn’t even had a hold to release option despite me screaming for it in the feedback forums…holding down Zoom turned you into a snail just like every other shooter…ugh man I hated the gameplay. Could have been so much better. Running a raid with friends for the first time was a pretty sick experience though man. I can’t lie about that.

yeah, that was year 1. I’ve played since then, Both D1 and D2. Honestly though, it’s all been in pursuit of recreating that initial high when first playing the game. It never got as good as that though.

Its a hard high to chase. Idk if anything like that in a game existed before, but for me it was the first.

I think it’s less likely we will see Spartan Ops, and more likely that future DLC Campaigns for Infinite will feature our player character instead of Master Chief. (Possibly the franchise going forward? I haven’t finished the game yet so no spoilers please)

I finished it yesterday, so I won’t speculate on your idea either way. I will say that campaign missions featuring our Spartans would be fun. I have a friend who insists Halo HAS TO BE about Master Chief, but I never really felt that way. The world they’ve built is cohesive enough that there is room for many stories in my opinion.
