Are Forums are in Rage right now over the News that the Ranking system is not Visible .Before I start I want to say I myself would like a Visible System and I do consider myself a Competitive Halo Player . The Problem is that for Years Mainly on Halo 2 and Halo 3 People would go in and try there best to get a 50 .Once we got that 50 we felt a since of accomplishment and Pride .The down side though is that we also Liked to "Bragg"It is Human nature .Looking back though Was it Really worth bragging ? We had proven that we has sat on are butt long enough to get good at a videoGame that was purely for Entertainment to accomplish its Highest level .We would Bragg .Bragging its self is not bad but when we would Curse out a little kid or Make fun of somone because they where not as good as us .That was wrong .Did we really have a right to Brag ? We had proven that we where good at a game that will matter nothing in are real life .50s are cool but they where abused and over hyped .The system was abused greatly by Cheaters. Looking forward to Halo 4 we once again “DO” have a Ranking system .This time though only we can see it .True competitive players should still Have the urge to be better .To prove to thereself that they could be better And still have that since of Accomplishment .This time though we cant Ram it into somone else’s Face .More People and us can play the Game for just fun and the joy of winning .And when all is said and done we Can look back and say .“That was a Fun time I made a lot of good friends and I proved to myself I could get a 50”. Withought the Multitude of Bragging Halo 4 will be a much more enjoyable experience for all . I dare say 343 is Making us better people .In the end We will remember the fun we had rather then the number we had and that is the Purpose of Multiplayer .Congrats 343 for your game which will bring me fun and Satisfaction for Years to come .

I agree 100%. I honestly hate the whole “it provides an incentive to win argument.” It’s ridiculously overused and pretty stupid. A NUMBER should not make you want to win, your love of the game should give you enough drive to be better and win. That’s like (excuse the slightly gross nature of this) relying on your pee turning really dark in order to motivate you towards drinking a beverage or water.

its funny most of you kids were bad in halo 3 and reach. so you want a game that caters to bad players. its ok because im still going to -Yoink!- all of you and talk trash while i do it. You should’ve really pushed for visible ranking system that separates people like me from people like you.

It may not be mature to bad mouth someone, but by god adults still do it. its just the way it is, you people really need to accept that and stop blaming it on ranks. There are things like Mute and block communication that work wonders if you dont have enough self-esteem to brush off meaningless verbal assaults.

Bad at Halo 3 & Reach? LOL nice assumption bro, I’ll admit my Halo 3 record isn’t great, but there are reasons aside from skill that contribute to that, mainly that I couldn’t afford gold memberships often so my activity in that game in general was pretty limited. But anyway…
I’m glad to know you’re still buying the game. But otherwise your trash talk is absolutely worthless right now. Only thing I can say at this point is that based on what you just said, there is a 90% chance you’re a rage quitter so even after the game drops, what you say will probably not be taken seriously.

That was the vocal minority who enjoyed visible, yet if you look at games such as Reach, you’ll still get “made fun of” due to other values that are part of the game. And when the solution is easy i.e. ignore them you’ll release that this arguement you’ve made here is completely redundant.

That’s not an excuse to sweep the problem under the rug (and note that these problems also happen with a progression system), that’s an excuse that the developers need to come up with a system which uses less crappy tools.
Its not just a number, Its a ladder system.
I’m not a fan of LoL, but one thing it does have is an amazing ranking system. Without it LoL wouldn’t be nearly as successful as it is now.
If they said its just a number and we don’t want to hurt anybody’s feelings, so we are removing it. There would be a serious outrage 1000x worse than you see here.
When I play Street Fighter online, I can’t even get into Unranked matches, but Ranked matches are flourishing. Why? Because people want to place in their division and move up in the ranks. Its highly competitive, and addicting.
Same thing for WoW Arenas, Starcraft 2, and many other games whether its Sports games, Fighters, Shooters, Chess, etc… The ranking systems implemented in these games keep the player coming back, to try to better themselves and see where they stand amongst the rest of the world.
When I played WoW nobody played unranked arenas, everybody wanted that 2400 rating in Ranked. If they didn’t have a rank system people wouldn’t play it nearly as much as they did.
Even CoD realises this, They don’t want to be left behind so they are finally getting with the times and adding Ranked playlists.
Removing visible Ranked playlists on Halo 4 is a huge mistake. I can go on and on why it is but I don’t want to ramble anymore. If you want to know more why its a mistake just ask, I can write a book on it, but it’s so much more than just a number.

I’m going to play Halo 4 for 5 seconds and suck at it. 5 seconds of gametime after that I am going to munce mash you. There are now preventative measures in Halo 4 that mean you won’t be able to nubetube and nade enemy spawns in tiny rooms to reach top of the ladder anymore. You’d damn better hope Halo 4 never comes out with a visual skill based ranking system. New Halo 4 requires real skill son.

I agree .As I said in my post it is Human nature .I believe though and I think many will agree That Will a invisible rank it will happen a lot less often .
