I have Recently found countless users online (Reddit, YouTube, and these forums) that simply cannot find games in social playlists. It’s gives a message: There are not enough players in this playlist (or something like that). Ok well let’s look at this.
Social is a playlist that allows players from all skills to play together. Social playlists consist of Btb, grifball, and infection. So far as I can tell Btb is the only one with a problem. I have found 50+ examples of people who play Btb ALOT, they tell me and show me pictures of them not being able to find Btb matches. Their Nat is open, they can play other modes, and their preference is expanded. Well then… What’s the problem? Btb is ranked. Has to be,why is it that when people tell me they play Btb a lot they can’t find matches. This hasn’t happened to me as I don’t play Btb very often. But 343 has neglected these players on these forums and on Reddit. I am trying to help them and their problem. What makes this even worse is that after several hours of waiting in solo queue, these players are getting put up against teams of try hard Btb players… TEAMS. So they are getting destroyed by teams of players with a crazy rank like them. why is Btb ranked… Is doesn’t show as ranked. 343 didn’t tell us it was ranked… Why is this. Genesis Rider is a you tuber who reached out to 343 months ago and still has this issue. There are groups of halo fans who can’t play their favorite gamemode because it is secretly ranked. Why is it secretly ranked???
The answer is simple, there are no unranked game types in halo 5 at all. There is only one set of gameplay rules that governs all of H5 multiplayer and it’s not flexible enough to cater to both ranked and unranked game types. Look at Griffball, why hasn’t the ban hammer been removed for betraying other team members? Because it would have to be altered right across the whole of matchmaking, if a true casual game mode existed it could just be turned off. Another example, when Assault was released my friends and I were having a great time seeing as we’re all unranked in any competitive game mode, but when another friend joined who was ranked high onyx suddenly the other teams we played against we around the same rank, making the game unplayable for us. I’m not saying 343i are inept but they didn’t really plan for social game types, I don’t think they were expecting such a backlash over the fact that players love them selves some casual game modes, and not everything has to be super competitive all the time.

That’s what I’m saying. Players aren’t able to find games in a supposed social playlist (Btb) because it’s secretly ranked.

Because that’s the problem. If you allow the best of the best to match up with absolute new players, the new players wouldn’t stay in the playlist much longer, because they’ll get thrown against teams of “try hard BTB players”.
If you’re a Silver player across Halo and get thrown into a “Social” playlist, there’s a high chance that most people will be individually better than you. If you’re an Onyx level player, there’s a high chance that most people will be individually worse than you. Therefore it only becomes relaxing for the top players.
You know how to stop that? Ranks. Silvers get matched with other near-Silvers and Onyx gets matched with near Onyx.

They have, they’ve even commented on war zones hidden ranks before it even launched on how they were going to keep it somewhat fair. it’s no secret that there are hidden ranks, most games do it to attempt a balance out.

Because then people will not be enticed to play. You make everything ranked then people get the impression that it’s a tryhard only game, if you hide the ranks then at least some won’t see it that way. Destiny is a perfect example, not a single playlist in that game shows rank, but if you get on the website everything has a hidden rank. To me what will sell as a real social playlist is to remove stat tracking for said social playlist, so no k/d or W/L will be taken into account. Then you make the matchmaking somewhat lenient like bronze match silvers and golds, silvers match the same, golds match the same but can also match low plat players, plats match golds, plats and low diamonds, and diamonds match everything above. Then to take it further if an onyx takes so long (say 5 minutes) to find a game then they get bumped down a tier. There needs to be hidden ranks to keep things fair but there also needs to be leniency on those whom take to long to find a game.

I just said for them to make it more lenient if the search goes over 5 minutes. I also doubt they spend hours to find one game, and it’s really a waste of their time if they do it regardless if it’s their favorite mode and such. The longest search time ive seen is 25 minutes for some dude who posted on YouTube, I’ll need a video to show one taking hours but I don’t disagree that it takes to long to get in a game for certain people.

Because then people will complain why is the game ranked, just like right now.
Doesn’t matter how many times it’s said, some people still don’t get it. Social has never meant that the playlist doesn’t have some form of skill based matchmaking. It’s always been the same thing as ranked, except you don’t get a visible skill or ranking presentation and the matchmaking restrictions are generally looser.
I thought the social playlists having a hidden rank was common knowledge? 343 said they made the social playlists play more like social so you can assume that they made the skill restrictions less strict, but obviously the hidden rank will eventually catch up to people.
