I tried explaining what Halo Wars 2 was missing in some previous articles, and this is what it boils down to in simple english:
There are 3 things wrong with Halo Wars 2:
Characters in Halo Wars 2’s story don’t ask enough questions. Isabelle doesn’t give any answers. Only missions 1-3 accomplish this while the rest of the game acts as if everyone knows everything, thus no one ever acts curious or asks questioms ever again about the Ark and the Halo or the Human-Covenent war.Not enough of Atriox’s frightfulness and power is shown to truly care about him in the end.No resolution was made at the end of the story between Atriox and Captain Cutter. Clickbait for future story. If you watch ActMan’s video about Halo Wars 2, you’ll understand a bit better. Long story short though, he concludes that there is absolutely no flaws with Halo Wars 2 and I couldn’t agree more with him. Halo Wars two, especially its story and gameplay, are beyond fantastic.
But what he says and I also agree, is the only things wrong with Halo Wars 2 are things it lacks in the game. For the majority of the game though, its damn brilliant.
If 343 ever had the heart to introduce new blur cutscenes, satisfying the areas where the game lacks, Halo Wars 2 could indeed be a full 10\10. As for now, story-wise, I give it a 7/10. Gameplay, visually, maps, sound, animations etc 10\10. As of now Halo Wars 2 deserves a full rating of 8 or a 9\10. Let’s see what Angry Joe has to say about this.
With regards to the questions asked part … I really wish they did talk more on that. Dedicate a cutscene to filling the teams in on all that went down, and maybe see their surprise when she tops it off with “Oh by the way, we’re allies with the Sangheli now”
Missed opportunity, but I guess she told them most of these things “off screen” and that’s why they act like they know everything. I just wish they showed us those conversations

The third one is just a cliffhanger, that’s not a problem. I could have used a little more of atriox and shipmaster, hopefully the campaign DLC will touch on that and have more blur cutscenes. There’s more total cutscene time than halo wars 1, it’s just badly spread out. A short scene where Isabelle explained to cutter, anders, and red team a few key things like halo CE, the halo 3 ark missions and ending.along with the chief being still alive. My personal theory after the final cutscene is that some time in the future the infinity is going to end up at the ark as it’s fleeing from the guardians, being as it’s out of the galaxy which may be the only place safe from Cortana, and they will end up meeting the spirit of fire there. Then we’ll have red and blue team together trying to stop Cortana.

Hopefully its not Cortana they’ll be trying to fight, but hopefully someone controlling her instead.

It could be but either way they’d still be fighting Cortana and the guardians. Introducing the banished finally gave them an interesting enemy that people actually want to fight, so hopefully they stick around. 343 still has omega halo, the greater ark, and the prophets currently just sitting around waiting for an introduction, hopefully they don’t just ignore all of those and introduce them at some point.

I’m expecting these DLC’s to just expand on stuff rather than talk about things (we) already know that the absent SoF crew didn’t. Which is a real shame since I so dearly wanted to see their reactions to the Elite-Human alliance - after years of fighting them they just wake up to a world where not only is the war over, but they’re - friends with a former enemy. To an extent.

Halo 6, what if we could play as HW/2’s Red Team? Like how Halo 5 had multiple characters to play as (Only in co-op though ) and two teams, if Halo 6 has Blue Team and Red Team playable… I’d love that.
