What are you frustrated about?
Infection
Invented: H3 Ripped: MW3
Acutally infection gametypes came from Halo 2. Zombies was created as a custom game in Halo 2 where by you had to change teams yourself when the zombie killed you. It was all an honor system but everyone played fair and it worked. in some ways it was even better because everyone had mics and used run around yelling Zombieeeesssss much to everyone amusement. From that evolved Cops and Robbers as well.
It became that popular as a custom game that Bungie created a proper Infection gametype in Halo3.

I don’t know why but when I first saw the aliens in Ghosts Extinction, they reminded me of Vortigaunts from Half-Life.
I think it’s a good thing when devs try to take the ideas from other games to improve their own because that’s how gaming evolves
> I think it’s a good thing when devs try to take the ideas from other games to improve their own because that’s how gaming evolves
AS LONG as it isn’t just a complete rip-off and they actually improve on it for their particular franchise. I don’t want to play Zombies in Halo if it’s the same as Zombies in WaW/BO/BO2.
> I think it’s a good thing when devs try to take the ideas from other games to improve their own because that’s how gaming evolves
That’s how EVERYTHING evolves (in the realm of the social sciences.) Person A does one thing, Person B sees how that works and says to himself “I can make that better.” So he does, which leads to Person C having his own opportunity to make an improvement. By the way this is not so much a hypothetical example but how the steam engine (along with just about every other thing) was “invented” (just do a file word replace with Person C being James Watt and work backwards from there though if you want to follow the process back to its origination you’ll likely need more than just three people to explain the industrial revolution.)
Expecting games to do otherwise (and thereby break from the rest of human civilization) simply imposes artificial constraints on the development of quality ideas and features (ie. it can ONLY make games worse, however it might appeal, in a very basal sort of way, to sacrifice everything to the altar of group identity.)
In the end, CoD got it right.
Halo ripped perks and loadouts, and people didn’t like it. Many people left.
CoD ripped plenty of things, and people liked it. No one left.
Well, what it comes down to it CoD is doing well, and Halo is floundering. And this has nothing to do with it.

Cod was originally a ripoff of Medal of Honor, the truth is it doesn’t matter if you ripoff another game all that matters is who does it better

It’s also the player base. COD players don’t give two -Yoink- if a feature is ripped, half of them don’t even know if COD ripped something. Halo players on the other hand think Halo has NEVER ripped an idea off of something else, when in fact Halo has ripped ideas from other sources, Halo itself is a rip off from a Sci Fi Book, Ring World.

I thought halo was a ripoff from the 300 book and starship trooper book so that makes three books then lol
Also if you really want to get to the root of things, almost everything was ripped from the john carter book and without that book we wouldn’t of had superman, Mario etc so don’t be annoyed when an idea isn’t original or taken from another game.
Think of all the games that came from halo 2 because of the multiplayer

Hate to be that guy, but Halo is floundering because it tried to be space-CoD.
Or maybe it’s because Halo changed too much. Cod has barely changed over the years and they get tons of money/players because of it. I really hate to be that griefer that yells “Halo 3 is based god” but at that point Halo was outdoing Cod so go figure.
You know, let’s just settle this once and for all.
Halo: Arena FPS, no ADS.
CoD: Loadout FPS, ADS.
Pace of Halo: Slow
Pace of CoD: Fast
Setting of Halo: Sci-fi
Setting of CoD: Current day or at least a little close to it.
Quality of Halo: Amazing.
Quality of CoD: Pretty good.
They’re two games that, overall, are similar only in that they’re FPS’, and that they’re both fun and great franchises with CoD perhaps lagging somewhat behind Halo in terms of raw features.
That’s all there is to it.
I thought of another good example timespiltters future perfect had a map editor/ creator. Halo 3 copied that does it better, Far cry 2 copies halo 3 and does it better.
I miss timesplitters

Halo (The Sci Fi game), was ripped off from a number of different sources, one of which was Aliens, Halo (the Ring World), was ripped off from Ring World.
The only difference between the two ring worlds is:
Halo’s Ring World is around the size of our moon at the largest.
Ring World’s Ring World, is the diameter of Earth’s Orbit around our sun, with a sun of it’s own.
I wouldn’t say that Halo ripped off from 300, but it did have some inspiration of Spartans, something not many series have done.

Oh it does
The Spartans in the 300 book are all about human perfection where only the strongest children are hand picked and any child that shows imperfection gets killed. After that they are treated to some harsh punish like getting thrown into the wild and they have to try to make their way back home or die. And this is quite similar to the how the spartan twos were treated.
The Persian army is a diverse group of different nations and races that have been conquered. Sound familiar.
This is probably a better way to show you how similar they are.
