The TROOPS of UNSC Consensus on Halo 4 Multi

There are some awesome things that were needed from the preceding games.
Ordinance drops, random weapon spawn points/times, the ball passing in gametypes like oddball or grifball, and the new Promethean weapons, have all added great things to the game.

Some things that have been left out, and craved for, are items such as the Brute Shot from Halo2/3. Where did that go, why is it not used anymore? (Personally, I want to play Halo 2’s Troy again… if you know it, you’ll understand.)
Others were a human flight vehicle. Yeah, the banshee is great, but where did the hornet go? or what about the falcon? (We are on-board a UNSC ship after all, where are the UNSC vehicles?)

Also, what about forge world, blood gulch, coagulation, or any semblance of one of the most long sought after maps in the distinguished Halo universe of multiplayer? (It’s even in Halo Wars for crying out loud…)

Some things that the clan and I have noticed, that we desperately want changed, fixed, or modified, are the following.

  1. Forge Island: What happened, 343i, the texture overlay is poorly done, the map is utterly empty, you can not use the water for any reason, and even with all that space, you only give us 10000 to use? how about 20000? or even 25000? So we can actually build, HUGE maps, big environments, and much more in depth terrain? Please fix this for all of us forgers.

  2. Weapon Fixes: Where to begin.

2.1. HUMAN WEAPONS:

  • PUT THE TARGET DESIGNATOR IN MULTIPLAYER PLEASE!!!

  • DMR. LEAVE THIS ALONE, it’s perfect the way it is. (If you mod anything on it, change the fire rate. Just a little slower would be nice.)

  • Battle Rifle: Change the hit percent at medium range, so the burst focus is not all over the board please. When I fire 3 rounds, I expect them all to hit within a 3 inch pattern in real life. Not hit three different areas on the wall of a barn. Make this more realistic, and similar to an M16. Thanks.

  • Rocket Launcher: Increase the reload time by about 0.25 seconds. Thanks.

2.2. PROMETHEAN WEAPONS: (What a waste of tech…)

  • Scatter Shot: 3 shots at close range do nothing, where as a UNSC Shotgun kills at the same range? what the hell. Change this, and make them the same… or make the scatter shot more powerful, as it is an “Advanced Weapon”… Right?

  • Light Rifle: What a useless POS unless you’re playing “Lightning flag” (Yet another fail gametype… come on…) Please make this more accurate, hit harder, and actually do damage… and increase fire rate.

-Bolt Shot: Finally fixed, thanks. But 6 months after release? That’s just crazy.

-Pulse Grenades: Currently Useless. They do not disable vehicles, drop shields, or anything. They do disintegrate enemies who have no shields, and are standing still… to that’s good. PLEASE FIX THIS - They need to do something other than glow orange, and look pretty. Some damage would be nice, against sprinting or moving vehicles.

2.3. COVENANT WEAPONS:

  • Needler: Please, either work on it’s lock on accuracy (it sometimes does, and mostly does not lock on anything…) and make it so it takes nearly a full clip to kill, not just 4-5 needles… you can only get about 2 DMR shots off against 5 needles, and you die? how limited is that. Please fix.

  • Plasma Pistol: Jesus, folks, please make this a useful weapon for something other than dropping shields or disabling vehicles. In the novels, it’s a formidable weapon, that everyone desires to use, and in Halo 1-3 it’s been something that you use just like your M6 pistol. Bring it back to what it needs to be. (And, increase it’s firing rate accordingly… I could spam it in Halo 1/2, I want that back.)

  • Carbine: Again, I can fire 1.5 clips into an opponent, even head shots, and they do not drop. At all. This needs to be turned into a 7 shot weapon, not a 15 shot weapon. Or, it’s useless. (I rarely use this, due to the fact that It does little to no damage to the enemy.) It’s a nice distraction weapon tho. (Success if that was your goal…)

  • Concussion Rifle? Really 343i? (this was a weapon from reach, that was so tremendously stupid, I cant imagine anyone WANTING to use this. GIVE US BRUTE SHOT!!!) I just never understood your integration of this weapon. Ever.

  • Storm Rifle: Change its weapon discharge focus a bit, so it’s not firing all over the sky, and it might be something widely used. Great idea, just needs to be more… focused. (Meaning, instead of a meter wide diameter dispersal, make it, oh I don’t know, 9 inches?)

I think that covers weapons.
Other Fixes:

Ordinance during Infinity Slayer has been so lop-sided when I’ve played. One team gets all heavy weapons (Rockets, Incineration Cannons, Binary) and the other team gets Light weapons (sword, grenades, or speed boost/overshield). This seems to happen to me and my team almost every game. Either we get good weapons, or the enemy team does. Ordinance needs to be re-balanced I think.
(We, as a clan, have discussed this at length, and come up with some ideas, which I will post at a later time.)
HOST matches, rather than server host, is another issue. If someone is host, and they have terrible connection speed, everyone is slowed down, and they get more kills. Please rotate host, or migrate host, to the fastest and best connection speed, so the balance is restored.
HITBOX errors. I personally have reviewed MANY matches, in which I’ve fired 8 DMR shots into an enemy’s head, and they live. They, however, fire 3 battle-rifle shots at the wall behind me, (and it shows dents in the walls to prove the rounds did truly miss me…) and I fall over dead. Every angle of the film shows this, in nearly 60% of matches played. This means, that I die a lot more than I should. It also means that somehow, the enemy hitbox did not detect my DMR fire. (They did NOT have an over-shield.) So somehow, I’m missing, and they’re hitting, and this is not being shown in my saved matches, or reviewed matches, or anything of the sort.
(This is an ongoing problem with everyone I’ve played with… it also happens with snipers, binaries, and everything else…)
Not sure how to fix this, but I’m getting tired of emptying a clip at someone, and dying because the system says I didn’t hit them. (when I did on my screen.)
SERVER LAG - Not sure what is the main cause of this, but… there is so much lag, and hardly anyone online, I’m not sure why. I’ve been black screened more times this month, than I ever did in halo reach, or halo 3. Please, reset/upgrade your stack servers.

More of these might follow, but for now, this is what we have.

We are not saying the game is bad. But this is what we’ve identified as problems to be addressed, for the game to get better.
We are dedicated Halo players. We love Halo. We love 343i. We love the universe.
The listed above items are our biggest issues, that we’d like to see addressed.

I completely agree with that statement. There are alot of changes that need to happen with these weapons. Also Slayer Pro does need to have its own playlist. The majority of players i ran into all agree, there is nothing Pro about Slayer Pro. We love the game, we arent crying about anything just making a few observations.

Pretty much sums it up. Damn I forgot about the Hornet - very balanced for an air vehicle.

the LR is the MOST accurate rifle in the game. even the DMR has SOME bullet movement in the shots. AND it currently has the FASTEST KILL TIME. scoped the LR IS a 4 shot. you just need to aim better with it.

Ok, let me restate what I said.

IF you are NOT being shot at, and are scoped in, and your opponent is standing still, YES. The LR is a 4 shot kill. However, every time you get shot, you loose aim, focus, and your enemy is NOT standing still. And, at point blank range, it needs to not be a 6-7 shot weapon, but a 5 shot like the DMR.

As for aiming, any idea how to get better? I’ve tried everything from lowering my sensitivity, to using Kontrol Freaks. Nothing works.

We have Valhalla, which is suitable enough. I’d even like a new two-base gorge for once.

I don’t believe we need Blood Gulch in every single Halo game. It’s been done to death.

When Forge Island was made, people were demanding a large and flat map to forge on.

I’m not saying we couldn’t use more forge maps, but 343I gave people what they were asking for.

You can also partially use the water to make flooded hallways and other areas to that effect.

It’s meant to be a medium range weapon. Inaccurate spread or significant recoil, pick your poison. Because we need one of those for it to keep it’s role.

Dexterity exists. Reload time is fine, especially for a weapon that holds two rockets.

The scattershot is capable of one hit kills, but it requires you to lead your target and it has poor spread. Like most other weapons, it could use a tighter spread.

Is currently tied with the DMR for the best weapon in the game and will still be pretty damn good after the balancing changes.

I agree but have no idea what to do with them.

It apparently does more damage and pushes vehicles more from what I’ve heard, at the cost of slower firing rate.

Ordnance will not be removed from Halo 4, nor will it be properly balanced. The best solution is to just make a gametype that excludes ordnance as a voting option.

The Carbine and Storm Rifle are already getting the buffs you have mentioned.
