For a TLDR, this is an insanely long post. TLDR is max 3 lines more or less.
When I was younger I spent a significant amount of time very poor and unemployed. Often I’d be broke days before I’d see another penny.
A free way to spend those evenings was to go online, on my PS3 at the time, and play with my mates. It helped me forget that I was struggling and in that world I could be one of the cool kids. I’m typically a bit better than most at shooters so I’d gotten all the cool unlockable cosmetics. People would ask for tips on how to get top rank etc
It’s a little worrying to me that the modern equivalent of me maybe doesn’t have that same kind of escape. I’d imagine they feel like they’re economic shortcomings are a constant to them whilst trying to kill an evening with no money in their pockets.
All of the various “armor” is useless. Contrary to the literal definition of the word, here it won’t serve to protect you in any way. It can safely be ignored
Interesting points! I feel like theyve artificially made the customisation worse than it needs to be. They shouldnt be selling ‘dirty’ skins. For example, the “pink” skin with grey in the Cat Lovers pack? It’s ugly. It should’ve clean white with pale pink.
The plain dirty colours should be free, and we should be paying for mentallic/clean/designed skins. I’m happy to pay for that.
Oh don’t worry I’m sure they will offer that version at a steep price as well.
We had 60 base colors in Halo 5 and now they are given us 10 and selling us the other 50, and that’s their plan. Just recycle the same.50 colors at a slow rate at a steep price. And call it new content
while splitting the combos between armour cores forcing us to pay extra
They really should’ve gone with Warframe’s pallet system, not this worse version of Destiny’s Shaders.
Nothing in this game feels predatory compared to basically any mobile game. Especially gachas where gambling addicts can blow everything they have at a chance to get .jpgs. I have zero interest in buying anything from the store that isn’t the BP. This game does really have bizarre, crappy pricing though.
They really close the worst possible method of monetization really.
I have a suspicion that whenever designed this was rushing to just put something together, esp Cally after threading the Kutaku report on Halo Infinites development.
Honestly at this point people should be able to read between the lines.and understand when a developer says that their game is a Live Service game. That’s code for we are releasing the game bare bones with missing content and we will work out the bugs as we go.
While adding Basic day one content and features over those 10 yrs while calling it future DLC and updates.
Examples Anthem, Outriders … Cough cough Destiny…
This apperantly is the new standard for game development. Pit out half baked products and hope it turns out well in the long run.
Outriders not so much, since while it was buggy at launch, it did launch for the most part feature complete, even if the latter part was misguided in its endgame, the overall product however was solid at launch.
Destiny is guilty of this however, same with Anthem.
Honestly the story made almost no sense I think it was written by a -Yoink!- head or something.
Ots kinda sad that Outriders launched with more content than halo
Maybe 343 should hire Epic games to build forge. They would have it finished under a month lol
also helped they added in a transom recently with no BS, just pick up the gear and wear as you please.
what 343 needs rn amongst other things is better management, thats for certain
I think people are upset about how badly the store has impacted their ability to customise themselves. Even basic colours are chargeable now. I buy nothing myself too. I find the win even sweeter when I know I’m beating people with paid skins.
There are vulnerable people out there who get sucked into these monetary systems. It’s kind of sad that Halo has turned into another one.
