Infinite launched with Bot Bootcamp, Quickplay, Big Team, Ranked Solo Kbm, Ranked Solo Controller and Ranked Crossplay - 6 playlists with event playlists prepared for the two events in season 1.
Halo 3 launched with 4 ranked playlists and 4 social playlists, so only 8. Hardly a giant leap.
Halo Infinite has bots too which is a big bonus to something lacking to Halo 3. I mean we can compare all day but to act like there is a gigantic gap in content is false.
Halo 3 also had multiple map issues for players getting out of them. People seriously acting like it was this perfect game.
Halo 2 had all the gun glitches and superbounces. Not to mention lag switchers and people being kicked offline in ranked games. Are any of you remembering any of this?
I’m not saying Infinite is the better game. I’m saying y’all got some selective memories on the state of Halo 3 at launch (and even at death).
Look how much stuff Infinite launched without that every other Halo game had at launch including 3. Halo 3 also had career progession at launch which infinite is sorely missing.
I reckon they are being worked into the ground but are being asked to make the impossible work. If you can’t get Co-Op or mission select or put an XP progression in then something is very wrong under the hood.
They had six years to develop this. Everything they’re trying to get out the door are either legacy features or very modest content like two additional maps a season and two armour sets.
I certainly hope mid year they will announce this new mode and campaign DLC. Because the core multiplayer is not doing it right now.
Looking back at it again, I think halo 3 had 7 new multiplayer maps by summer of 2008, within 10 months of release. By 10 months of halo infinite we will have 2. That is a quite stark difference considering we also don’t have forge to keep ourselves occupied.
They released the heroic map pack, legendary map pack and cold storage all within 10 months of release, 6 of which were in c6 months.
One of these games was a ‘live service’. Which one do you think that is?
This is the problem - with one hand they’re saying “We prioritize the health and well-being of our teams” while everything else screams death march/black company which is categorically the opposite of prioritizing the health and well-being of employees.
I’d hoped they would turn things around and not have quite as disastrous a launch. But we’re in a much worse place with this season 3 delay. It is getting to Battlefield 2042 levels now.
It matters to me because this all directly impacts whether they can or what sort of campaign dlc they can do. They won’t do campaign expansion for a game that’s not earning them money and if they can’t make content to sell then they won’t be able to do that.
If this is the case then it all makes sense. Any actual acknowledgement of the task being impossible to fix will be the death nail for this game and 343 as a whole. I don’t see how they come back from this with the 500 million dollar development budget.
Button combos were kept implemented into the game as a technique if they were unintended they would’ve been patched out in the pc port and subsequently mcc but only super jumps were
Also getting out of the maps in 3 didn’t prevent you from dying to someone who’s inside the map unlike 2
Customisation in Halo Infinite is far more detailed than Halo 3 albeit Halo 3 had much more “free” options. For 60 bucks you can get a similar level/better customisation than you did in Halo 3.
The absence of Flood or Arbiter makes no sense. It’s a story decision, not a lack of content. Anyway Arbiter was a big part of Halo 2 but no more than an afterthought in Halo 3.
WRONG i played infection and race with my little bro before i had xbox live you’re lying now heck i didn’t have my own xbox live account until odst and even than i played online halo 2 matches on my older cousin’s account when he let me
Nope button combos were unintended but kept due to popular demand. Super jumps were removed because they could completely ruin and seriously elongate games which was off putting for players.
Doesn’t mean it wasn’t broken and HLG was very popular lots of players abused it in Team Doubles. I found it hilarious but Halo 3 was shipped with so many issues. Broken equipment, poorly designed levels (shield doors) and exploitable map design. Not to mention registration issues, host booting, lag switching, and hackers. It’s amazing how people forget that when claiming that Bungie or any other company would do a better job with Infinite. Plenty of them probably would and plenty wouldn’t.
I’m not saying Infinite is the better game, I love Halo 3. But the comparison makes me laugh because they’re closer in issues and content than others seem to think.
Ah yes the lack of flood makes no sense when we are on the ring thats important to people who are fans of the flood and with 343 bringing back the flood while also confirming cortana being infected with the logic plague only for nothing with the flood to hapoen and AGAIN introduce a new faction of enemies
