The thing about the Medal Chest...

Lately, I have seen a lot of threads about complaints against the new medal system. What medals should be added, which should be removed, etc… I am personally dishearkened about some of the changes coming with this. Here are some medals that have notably been removed:

-Yoink
Added in Reach, this medal was used to signify stealing a kill from someone who was performing an assasination. This may have been the most infamous medal in Halo history, namely for the reason that it practically rewards you for stealing assasination kills, especially from teammates. I have never been a strong advocate of yoinking, but it was still a thing you could do. And now it is no longer a thing.

-Sniper Headshot
One of the most original medals in Halo; you earned this for killing an enemy with a sniper via headshot. It might be impossible to justify the removal of this medal, for there really is no beneficial reason for removing it. 343 didn’t even replace it with the regular headshot medal when you get one with a sniper. I personally find it incredibly confusing telling distinction when I kill someone in a gametype like Team Snipers if either his shields were already down, or I actually did hit him in the head. This was a very rewarding medal to earn, and it is no more.

And the medals are one thing. The medal chest is a whole new story. In Bungie.net’s chest (and please, before you draw asumptions I’m not trolling that Bungie should come back), you could sift through each and every medal possible to achieve with ease. Everything on one page, all layed out in their own categories. With 343’s chest, I have trouble even knowing which medals or which, or how I even find the list. This is one big issue that I have with Halo 4.

-The verdict
I seriously love H4, I have cannot get my -Yoink- away from the TV screen because of it. But there are some major kinks still in it, and an update with Waypoint to at least rearrange the medal chest to make it more maneuverable would be fantastic.

What are your opinions and justifications to all these changes?

When I look at my Spartan’s Career and go to Medals… I just see a row of Medals.

I want to have the same view as in Reach(Bungie) and in Halo 2-3.
I want to see all the medals and see the medals I haven’t achieved yet… not the ones I’ve gained and in one freaking row.

What about the Mount Olympus of medals: Perfection. The feeling of hearing: Untouchable! Perfection! Game Over. is unmatched by any medal in the game ever. Instead we got an ‘‘Inconceivable’’ medal (35 kills) and some dumb challenge for perfections. There is no way to justify removing the Perfection medal.

On the bright side, the new announcer makes ‘‘Distraction’’ sound more badass than the Halo 3 announcer did with Perfection lol.
