Games that people play for e-sports aren’t designed with that only purpose in mind infact most of them are very much competitive because people played the game and decided wow this is fun to play I’m going to get real good at it then people found that interesting to watch.
Your games needs a social aspect 343 it’s so annoying to have to play with so many try hard players all the time. The fact I don’t even have a playlist where I can quit from without getting banned is a joke, Halo is a video game it’s supossed to be for leisure but today it seems like you want Halo to be a chore.
Yea I know some people love e-sports and some people only want to play competitive gaming but there’s a load of people who don’t play like that, I just want to play Halo for fun again.
There seems to have been a misunderstanding this is not a ban complaint thread! I am talking about the fact the game is overly competitive with no real social aspect.

Is that what this is about? I’m not giving you a hard time here, this is just the first first time I’ve heard someone explicitly say this. If that’s what the big deal is, then I guess I don’t see why any mode that has Join In Progress (like BTB or Warzone) can’t have the quit ban removed.
But let’s be real for a moment: harsh quit bans are our fault. All of us. It’s the fault of those who quit a lot (duh) especially in the MCC (now a lot of that was due to the issues of the game, so 100% of the blame cannot be put on them, but when 8/10 of the time they quit it was because they were getting stomped, “disconnections” starts to sound more like “rage quitting” to me). But it’s also the fault of people who were left without teammates who came on these forums and asks 343 to do something about the quitting issues. And so they did.
But yeah, I think my idea of keeping the harsh quit penalties for any mode that does not have JIP and removing quit penalties altogether for JIP modes would be fine. But then again, I barely play Warzone nor take it seriously, so I’m sure many of you would think that’s a terrible idea. But I’d rather have a teammate quit and get a new one than have that player dilly dally and do nothing because they don’t want to quit or play the match so they just screw around. Although that sucks for the new JIP player. But I don’t like JIP that much in the first place, someone’s always getting screwed over by quitting either way. So maybe I’m trying to be too reasonable here and making a mess by “trying to please all the people all the time” and it doesn’t work, so why don’t we all just agree to finish what we begin, huh?
“Master Chief, you mind telling me what you’re doing on that ship?”
“Sir, finishing this fight. Lol nope. I quit.”
But seriously, what you think of removing the ban for JIP modes?
We will never be able to escape all the MLG bums… we never will be able to
they’re everywhere

It’s a game, I have a life and can’t always commit to finishing every single match. That’s what’s its about, they should have a social playlist where quit bans don’t exist. Simple
What other game has no social aspect to it at all where you can’t even quit a game?

I was joking about the “finish the fight” stuff … what do you think of the removal of bans for join in progress modes?

We’d have to make a lot of noise about it. They still have betrayals on in Grifball, so … A LOT of noise.

If you’re so busy w your life that you cant finish a 12 minute (or less) arena match then you probably shouldnt be wasting your time playing video games in general

Or I have time to play but sometimes things pop up mid match ever thought about that? I actually have only received 1 ban my while time playing Halo 5 but I just hate the concept of quit banning on every single gamemode.

If you are that busy don’t play multiplayer games… The quit ban isn’t so strict where is you quit a game you are instantly banned for weeks… I laugh at the players who come here and complain about the bans because I know they earned them… I know because yes I have disconnected due to server issues and losing power, I was booted from a game for going idle when I had to check on my dog and guess what… I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED A BAN! Why have I never received one? Because I don’t make a habit out of quitting games… and that is what quitters want really… they want the bans removed so they can quit every time games aren’t going their way… they can’t handle losing. I think the ban hammer needs to be a bit stricter imo… people still quit way to often. I know they are quitting because it’s always always the losing team who loses players.

I don’t quit that often I have more time than most to play video games trust me XD but I have to quit games sometimes because I have things that need to be done like if someone comes to the front door I’m not going to leave the person at the door and ignore them! I wish I’d never mentioned the damn ban system if wasn’t the point of this topic! It was a side thought I don’t even quit that often the point of this topic is about the overly competitive nature of this game with no social aspects.

I think the ban hammer needs to be a bit stricter imo… people still quit way to often. I know they are quitting because it’s always always the losing team who loses players.

So? As I tell players if they want social Halo they have Halo Reach and Halo 4… they have MCC which has a social aspect to it… H5 has warzone, btb,and a rational social playlist… there is plenty of social Halo out there… why can’t us who love competitive play finally get a game? Sure casuals make up the largest group of gamers now a days but that doesn’t mean your group should always be catered too.

But then again, I barely play Warzone nor take it seriously, so I’m sure many of you would think that’s a terrible idea. But I’d rather have a teammate quit and get a new one than have that player dilly dally and do nothing because they don’t want to quit or play the match so they just screw around. You understand because I want social does not mean I don’t like competitive. I’m just sick of it being the only real option and no BTB and Warzone aren’t good enough I want an option to play social arena, call me entitled if you will but suggesting playing an old game or even the sick joke that is MCC is just dumb. I want to play Halo 5, I like arena but why can’t we have both like previous games? What was wrong with having BOTH competitive AND social? If you come back with the population isn’t big enough then maybe you should think about why the population is so low to begin with.
That’s like me telling you to go play csgo and lol because you want competitive play, Halo always catered to both and now it is very one sided.

Halo has been one sided since Reach essentially. Sorry 343 isn’t talented enough to make two different modes. The fact is there is casual Halo and even casual H5 Halo, granted not a lot of choices but it’s there. Also I honestly don’t get this “social” aspect people speak of… even the “social” games were competitive. It’s always players playing to win. Even in what is one of my favorite playlist, action sack which H5 doesn’t have yet, was competitive imo… it was still two teams trying to win.

I understand the but in Halo 5 people seem to be over the top with it compared to the past, I kind of feel like I can’t enjoy myself anymore, all my friends sold their Xbox and iv been in 3 company’s now all of which seem like ghost towns even though the member list says overwise, really I’m just a bit salty because I can’t get that much fun from this game where as the other game were the most fun iv ever had.

Sorry for your luck. I play as a solo gamer and have a lot of fun in H5. All I even play is war zone, btb, sometimes the social playlist and most of all the FFA which is the best it’s been since H3 Lone Wolves.
Also there is nothing wrong with MCC, besides it’s cross game btb playlist that yoinks only vote H3 for… I still play action sack, H2 and H2A playlist there from time to time.
I think if we could steer this conversation away from “who has time to do what” or “should I get a ban for a lousy server disconnect” (I’ve only had one ban, BTW, and I play daily and it was for a disconnect) or from a casual v competitive aspect to a conversation revolving around more of an idea that Halo 3 offered (a highly competitive game) that offered social unranked playlists, where in Halo 5 they could offer join in progress and no bans for certain modes, and ranked playlists that offer bans and no join in progress for competitive modes.
That could be a nice solution. There would be an answer to both sides. And we could stop bickering at each other … because, quite frankly, depending on my mood, I like to play both. So I can’t really take a side or point fingers at anyone. There can be options for both sides. And there probably already is a thread for that, but we don’t really need one where we yell at each other because this game doesn’t offer what it should.
im going to agree whit op , the game is failing to deliver a sosial game and only focused on it being competitive , but if you make a game only for the hardcore nobody will but the hardcore will play it and it will fail , and h5 is quite close to failing tbh the sosial aspect of the game is totaly gone , nobody is playing sosial , even custom games are a grind to be best .

What if they only wanted to cater to the competitive crowd? Sure it’s not the best for business really as less will be playing. But it’s a possibility. The biggest issue with 343 is that they can never seem to find the middle ground. They made H4 so casual it was a joke really, sure fun to play but no.competitiveness at all… Now H5 seems to be too competitive and most, of course not every one, think it’s not fun or fun enough.
