The teams you put together are still terrible

I am ranting about this again because this game’s matchmaking is still a flaming pile of garbage. I get on to play this stupid event and I go against a team that has a combined number 5000+ games played. One guy alone played like over 2000 or 3000 games. That was my first game in this “event”. I have not even played 1000 games yet. I also play against Onyx players. and smurfs. Why do you refuse to add a feature to disable crossplay?

343, this is going to blow your mind but getting spawn killed by wasps is not actually fun. I should not be playing with people that are tiers above me in skill, certainly not repeatedly. That is TERRIBLE game design. People love to meme the population of this game but I do not recognize 90 percent of the people I play with. In BTB. You give me fresh swarms of player who have no idea what they are doing on my team all the time but give the same enemies that stomp me. I am sure pros and Halo influencers love teams like this so they can use it as a backdrop for their videos that still trash talk you and even cheat.

Maybe this is what you want to hear, but I will happily pay for ALL Fracture content and ALL weekly rewards if means I do not have to play the way YOU want me to. Please, listen to us little guys instead of these clout zealots. I know repeat this a lot but it needs to be drilled in your heads 343.

There’s only so much an AI matchmaker is going to be capable of when picking teammates for you.

If you want to do yourself a favor, look into friends and start parties before queuing up for matches. It takes a little work, but the end result will never be comparable to that of what the matchmaker can provide you, no matter how good they can improve it.

My friends are only so interested in this game. I just want to play this game casually and I do not believe that means you have to expect to always be terrible. I played ranked once for the achievement but it seems like I never left it when I play arena playlists (all events are 4v4). Everyone seems so sweaty. I should not have to make a group to not have a dozen losses in a row.

I’m assuming that wolfeboy1 isn’t your gamertag.

Because it would be a bit awkward to complain about matchmaking with a win % of 60% plus.

Our even enter a conversation with a total playing time of less than 2 hours.

Take a little time and make new friends, preferably that live in your area so ping and connection aren’t so much of an issue. But there are community forums online where you can easily meet people.

It’ll always be far more reliable in the long run. The AI will never match it no matter how good they “improve it”.

So I am not lying when I said I lost about a dozen games in a row. I looked at theater files and it looked like 12 but Halo Tracker said it was like 9 so maybe a little less than a dozen. This was BTB by the way, so I could not have possibly made a difference as I am with 11 other people. The game put me on losing teams 9 to 12 times in a row. That is absolutely abysmal. There are plenty of arena games where I won but was dead weight. That is not fun. The fact that I am even positive blows my mind.

Halo Traker isn’t working well today. It doesn’t show your S2 games from my end.

But with any new playlist you need some time for the system to find your rank. It’s going to assume a starting MMR from other playlists. And things can need a bit volatile until your new MMR is found.

With all due respect, that is a non-argument, because:

  • even if you have a high win%, you should still have balanced matches (the matchmaking should make it about 50-50% of winning every match, not to get your winrate at 50%)
  • even if you win the majority of matches, you can still complain about unbalanced matches, since unbalanced matches that you win can still be problematic, since they get realy boring that way.

And even with a lower then 50% winrate you get unbalanced matches where your team is on the losing side. In Quick Play my winrate is 42.9%, yet i was being put on the losing team 9 games in a row (and in my last 20 matches i only won 4). Most of those matches where completely one-sided, even though i stayed positive for almost every match, with an average k/d of over 2.0.

So it’s clearly not about your winrate (SBMM shouldn’t even do that, it should make the chance of winning a match 50%), it’s just about not accurately being able to judge skill and how to balance matches.

Very true. Good points.

At least the 50% win tells us that the system has your rank pitched correctly.

What MM does with that depends on population, time, and squads.

And I think the latter is the most disruptive.
