The Suppressor Should Act as the SMG for H5

If you’ve played Halo 4, you’ve probably noticed that the Suppressor took a backseat in multiplayer since it was completely outclassed by the Storm Rifle and Assault Rifle due to its uselessness outside of barrel-stuffing range. With the onset of Spartan Abilities, which may (has it been confirmed?)include Dual Wielding, the Suppressor should in essence be transformed into the SMG. It would behave like the Halo2/3 SMG by the fact that it has an insanely limited effective range, but if you were to have two of them, the fire rate would be sufficient to strip away shields and health and decimate targets at close range.

We would basically just be able to keep the only Forerunner automatic weapon but have it behave in a familiar way that should fit in with the addition of Spartan Abilities, assuming Dual Wielding is one of them.

The combination of the Suppressor having no redeeming qualities and the fact that the Forerunners already have an automatic weapon, the Sentinel Beam, leads me to a resounding no on the question of if the Suppressor should return.

The Sentinel Beam shouldn’t necessarily be classified as an automatic weapon, and it has never been a loadout weapon. It has always functioned as a semi-power support weapon.

I would think that 343i would want the Suppressor to come back to standardize the Forerunner weapon set with the Humans’ and Covenants’, so making the Suppressor the equivalent of the Halo 2/3 SMG in use would allow them to keep it as a functional part of the sandbox.

How can you classify a singular beam firing weapon as automatic?

It’s not single shot. It’s not semi automatic. It’s not a burst fire weapon. It continuously fires if the trigger is held down. It deals damage over time. If the Sentinel Beam is not an automatic weapon, what is it?

I think they need to rethink Forerunner weapons. They are not as impressive as I thought they would be.

Turn them all into power weapons/ scrap some. I don’t care if I never see the suppressor. Place the boltshot on the map, like 1 on each side of the map. Rework or scrap the LR, for it should be the godision rifle power weapon. Make the Binary rifle even harder to use in scope or replace it with a powerful sentinel beam. Make the scattershot have a bit tighter spread and longer distance for banking…

Those are my cents…
