Honestly I’m not surprised by the offscreen retcons and deaths, 343 did it before when they killed off the Rookie, because “silent protagonist bad”, and resurrected spark nullifying the fight with him completely and making johnsons death utterly pointless (yet oddly they didn’t retcon johnsons death as well when it was equally as doable)
weapon selection is very lacking, and most of the weapons are fairly dry. The few new weapons that are interesting wear out quickly due to the fact that they show up every single game, since there’s so few weapons.
this makes your whole post sound like you’re being really uncharitable to 343i for no reason. halo infinite has 22 weapons, that’s higher than h3 and reach’s 19. and unlike h3 and reach, all of halo infinite’s weapons are unique in function.
You would think they would understand at this point that clamber, sprint and slide have no place in halo. How many failed opportunities at making an enjoyable and competitive halo game are they going to be given?
Lol imagine going by a games rating in 2021 to see what the community thinks of a FPS… hey bud who gives AAA developers they’re products ratings??
I’d rather trust HiddenXperia’s, UberNick’s, and EckartsLadder’s review of the game since they’re the 3 I trust and have had no reason to not believe their opinions.
You’re just one salty spitoon because I’d believe Halo youtubers over a grumpy forum poster
Im sure act man will have a good one too
Yes I’d be quite interested in his take on this game as well
IMO this “campagin” suffers from the same thing H5 did of telling us what happened instead of showing us
More like the straw that broke your back, apparently.
That is a lot of staws sir
Unfortunately I agree. It’s a fun game, I’m enjoying it for what it is but I don’t think I’ll play more than once… I don’t feel like I’ve achieved anything, it’s an open world but I’m told exactly where everything is so I’m not even exploring, just running to all the icons on my map…
I don’t have much to add to what OP said but I really dislike the electric weapons. Really miss the carbine. The HALO PISTOL. And other weapons… The plasma pistol is basically useless and shouldn’t have been replaced by the electric weapons for EMPing vehicles. I tend to carry neither but I would carry a plasma pistol if it was a OG plasma pistol and was effective against vehicles… the grappling hook is broken anyway, hijacking vehicles is a piece of cake and not fun. Vehicles aren’t even a threat it’s just an enemy bringing me a free vehicle.
the disruptor is the worst on, heroic grunts can stun my wasp out of the air from like 200+ meters away, and I feel that they put this in just so the open world part would take us longer to do, cause with out the open world part and boss fights we have the shortest campaign ever.
I disagree, while there are more varied niches within the weapons than there has been since Halo 3 and maybe Reach, as it stands, the Commando, BR, AR, and Sidekick, all crossover within, and perform beyond their intended niches. The functionally hitscan nature of these weapons means their ease-of-use is a significant leg up on comparable projectile “precision” weapons like the Stalker Rifle and Mangler, this is exacerbated by the descope mechanic which heavily, objectively favors hitscan weapons. That’s to say nothing of the fact that the current balancing has the AR outclasses 80% of map pickups in most situations, including the shotguns.
To be fair you want to almost never listen to YouTubers that exclusively, or majorly, cover one thing. Unless they also point out the flaws in something they’re just fanboying and ignoring issues
Oh god this, as soon as I was able to start using Banshees or Wasps it was next to useless to actually use them as you just get disabled and tumbled to the ground
DMR outclassed 90% of pickups in Reach and BR outclassed 90% of pickups in H3, welcome to Halo. to say those weapons performed outside their intended niches would be the understatement of the century. nobody bothered picking up anything outside of a power weapon or precision weapon and hitscan (or near-hitscan) has always been king. the spiker, plasma rifle, mauler and SMG were meme weapons, and the shotgun was so niche it was basically only used to camp or counter the sword.
Infinite was the first game to hit a sweet spot where your starting weapons are viable but pickups are still generally better. despite the supposed power of the AR, everyone still swaps it out first chance they get. from my experience the stalker rifle and mangler absolutely demolish the AR in almost every situation.
the bulldog is conceptually good, trading 1-shot potential for increased range so it doesn’t encroach on the role of melee weapons, it just needs a buff. it was in a great spot in the flight.
Nah the plasma rifle and SMG were op when dual wielded together and both had their roles separate (insane shield strip for PR and fast hp finish for SMG.)
3 was actually balanced really well, it’s just everything got thrown outta wack when they made the BR a starting weapon instead of keeping it a power weapon/pick up. Halo games used to emphasize map and situational awareness, as well as dual wield combo’s, over “gun go brrrrr” like infinite does. Its why the infinite maps feel so unremarkable and forgettable.
the BR wasn’t a power weapon in H3, its spawn rate was too frequent and it had a ton of spawn points. the game treated it like a tier 1 weapon despite it outclassing most guns in the game.
Halo was my all time favorite franchise. But these last couple just do not have good multiplayer. This one seems to have more potential than 5 but I just can’t bring myself to play more than like 5 games and that’s ONLY if I’m playing with friends. I enjoy MCC WAY more. Really makes me sad
