The straw that broke Halo's back

Honestly think 343 needs to take some inspiration from Grand theft Auto V online not gameplay wise obviously but more so DLC wise Grand theft Auto V every single DLC that has released has been free if you own the game you get every DLC for free always and the game has had a huge amount of DLCs over the 8 years it has existed nearly 9 now and it makes Rockstar games billions but my point is if 343 wants Halo infinite to last for 10 years they need to make the DLCs free because they do have an in-game store because see the people who own the campaign also get the multiplayer granted the multiplayer is free to play but there are many ways that they could go about doing the monetization and still give players the ability to have free reign of customization without having to pay any money there are a lot of games that do this that make millions to billions of dollars

And honestly Halo infinite would definitely benefit from giving players free reign to customize their character because at the end of the day you want to make your character look unique but with how Halo infinite works everyone looks basic and essentially the same and with the way their color customization works it really hinders the players creativity

Well i strongly disagree with everything being free, end of the day companys gotta make profits after sales years down the line after all servers aint free…

now if you said made DLC affordable and mostly cosmetic/story mode stuff, even better,

but free forever is basically, like asking your farther/mother for them to pay your rent, and becoming spoiled so much that you rely on it and find it hard to stop, and then get angry when they say no… <_<

game devs work their butts off they deserve decent payment for that, GTA and Halo, are 2 compete different genre’s please dont compare that child minded game to halo D:

(edit - {add} only if its christmas, or a seasonal holiday, would i think its ok for freebee’s)

I didn’t say make everything free I said 343 needs to take some examples from other games to try and fix Halo infinite Grand theft Auto V online makes billions of dollars while also having free DLCs

oh sorry i scim read, <_< my bad, but still gonna leave it as it is D:

I agree about some of the technical issues, like needing restarts occasionally and some bugs.

But I disagree with a good chunk of what you put here

You have absolutely nailed this. Pretty much sums up everything wrong with this game. I also wanna point out, this is what 343 is now presenting to us as a FINISHED product. They believe, not having COOP, Forge, the ability to pick an exclusive game type to play (i.e just play Slayer or just play SWAT) having minimal multiplayer maps, and the many other things missing that I probably forgot to mention, makes this game worthy of launch and being called a full and complete HALO title.

I agree with a lot of this. I don’t agree with all of the campaign points you mentioned, I quite enjoyed the story and the characters which were introduced were pretty good. Chief is espeically well written this time round. I do strongly agree with the loose-ends of the plot, and pretty much all of the multiplayer points. Well constructed post, hope 343 pay some mind to these issues.

I’m definitely left thinking that this shouldn’t have been sold at retail price. $60 for what? A campaign whose length isn’t significantly greater than past titles (by some measurements, it’s shorter when examining completionist runs of just the campaign) and without co-op. A campaign with no armor unlocks. A campaign without polished set pieces rivaling prior entries. The assets in the game aren’t very diverse either; we get a single environmental biome, some banished buildings, and ring interiors. Even if this game had co-op at launch, I don’t think that justifies the price it was sold at. I didn’t think ODST was worth the $60 when it launched either, but at least it came packaged with firefight, multiplayer, new maps, and a path to unlock recon. With multiplayer being free here (and horribly lacking, absent forge, functioning custom games, gamemodes, and playlists), the campaign is a profoundly disappointing separate $60 purchase. And the worst part of it, as you note, is that 343 and Microsoft is going to ‘solicit more money than past games for less content.’ 343 has been trying to do this for a while; this vision of a game that lasts a decade. But rather than create a strong base and build upon that, it feels like the idea here is to strip features away and just add them overtime. It’s gross.

Not when it comes to the monetization and customizations. They have taken some of the most basic armors like soldier and try reselling it to us.

Not to mention them trying to resell us basic color options.

And they are purposely drip feeding us this through monetization.

And don’t get me started with their stupid Events.

It’s not even creative it’s just hey let’s hold back all these playlist and use them as fluff for events and drip feed more content through that method.

Bet your excited to unlock the same color coating 5 times on the Winter contingency event

Like dude they didn’t even try to hide the fact that they couldn’t come up with new and Gametypes. They just took Swat and added the word tactical to it to make it seem new… But it’s just going to be regular SWAT… So much content … Locked behind the paywall and time gated.

The monetization is so predatory, and your not even getting nice stuff your l just getting basic stuff like the Soldier Helmet.

And another version of the color red.

I bet this was how they planned it.

343: ok guys let’s take all the stuff we already had unlockable through regular gameplay. Now let’s make it lock it behind a paywall mostyl.

Now the free stuff. In terms of Armor peices… Let’s timegate to events.

And let’s take it one step further let’s drip feed all this content and use a rotating Store method to endorse FOMO… Also let’s take existing normal playlist like Swat and FFA,

And take these mode completely out… And we will re introduce them as New playlist and just add the word Tactical in front of it… That way it feels new and fresh… But it’s just the same thing.

The players will get content at our price and out pace.

Qoutes from 343

Your going to like the way your Spartan looks multiplayer… If you can afford it.

Yeah my main issues are the lack of maps and no game modes! This game should of been delayed for another year to be honest.

Topic of debate here, please share your opinions.

Within the campaign there are two Spartans that are sporting the ISR and Zvezda helmets. If you purchased the campaign then you have assisted in paying for the development costs of these items and in a sense own an unusable model of these helmets.

Is it right to have these models within Infinite that you have paid for without any means of earning them through gameplay? Should development of these items be double-dipped cost wise via the store?

Please share your thoughts.

I don’t think it’s possible to disagree with this notion any more than I currently do. GTA Online is the poster child of taking advantage of its playerbase via monetization. It’s an 8 year old game that STILL prices its in game items of worth so high it puts it on the player to purchase premium currency, or spend several dozens of hours grinding for the cash in lobbies where people actively exist to thwart your efforts. Rockstar is not to be emulated in this regard.

Also consider that it’s DLC is free because they’ve made a boatload of money to date off of the one installment, and all of its assets are extremely easy to develop for at this point (again, 8 year old game), it’s not a fair comparison to what’s happening with Infinite. It’s similar to how CoD WZ recently started putting a solid amount of premium currency in their pass progression, they’ve made so much money off of WZ microtransactions their in an easy position to do something that comes across as “consumer friendly”, when in fact they’ve already made 10 times that free Cp off each player on average. Infinite just started, it’s not realistic to demand features and practices from long financially successful games be implemented in a completely new game.

Not at all saying Infinite doesn’t have its issues, or that there isn’t things to be learned from it’s competition, but GTA:O is simply a bad example to strive towards.

I feel llike 343 were scared to make too many changes and just launched the game in a somewhat playable state. the whole vehiicle system needs a overhaul. the only vehicle that controls ok and is also not made of wet paper is the ghost. im really confused how they got it so wrong.

As far as weapons go, my biggest issue is they replaced over half the weapons and nerfed so many into the ground:

  • The Stalker is a heavily nerfed Beam Rifle both in range (because it’s a projectile weapon) and damage because it kills in a minimum of 3 shots.
  • The Commando is just a harder to use replacement to the DMR which wouldn’t have been necessary if not for the weapon tuning in H4 which basically made all starter weapons except the AR and BR worthless, not that the Carbine was worth using anyway.
  • The Skewer is just a replacement for the Laser, but is a projectile weapon.
  • The Shock Rifle is held back significantly by it being a burst fire weapon, and as a sniper weapon, burst fire won’t work without recoil like the BR.
  • The Mangler is just a slower projectile version of the CE pistol.
  • The Bulldog, well, how many games with shotguns don’t allow OHKs with them? If they wanted a shotgun that can’t OHK, they should’ve brought back the Mauler.
  • The Pulse Carbine is a terrible mix between the Plasma Rifle and BR. It’s useless if there is any cover, if they’re at close range, if they’re far enough away that tracking won’t do anything for you, or if they’re running/ strafing fast enough that the shots miss anyway. It’s like H3 where most, if not every weapon is a projectile weapon, but if they’re far enough away that you have to lead your shots, bullet magnetism is going to work against you and fire where they are and not where you’re aiming.
  • The Sentinel Beam has too much recoil to use effectively.
  • The Plasma Pistol’s main purpose has been replaced by the Shock weapons.
  • Pretty sure they nerfed the Heatwave some time ago because I haven’t 2 tapped anyone with what is basically the new Scattershot.
  • Vehicle controls and power have been murdered either with gameplay changes or equipment.
  • The radar is misleading when it says 18m, but doesn’t detect people until they’re 9m from you, and by they point, they would have already shoulder charged you in H5.

This is probably worse than H5.

The aim assist is downright awful in this

Glad OP has decided to raise a lot of necessary criticisms of Infinite’s gameplay. It feels like the universal praise is due primarily to the fact that it functional on a level that other triple AAA titles aren’t, and by the fact it’s gameplay vaguely resembles a Halo game.

While there are things to appreciate (particularly some of the smaller details in the campaign), in terms of the game’s design there is a lot to pick a part and criticize; terrible maps, very limited sandbox, the hyper repetitive nature of the campaign, aiming feels awful, etc.

Halo Infinite is absolutely a step in the right direction, but I find it very frustrating how most people consider this game to comparable in quality to the best of the series. It’s not even close.

Maybe … just maybe the chief should have died in Halo 3.

Yeah I think I will be dropping this game too… The game isn’t good enough to be worth getting spammed with hate messages because I bought the Battle Pass.

I think the gameplay is quite fun still but I am definitely starting to notice the lack of content (same weapons every game even on quick play which has random weapon spawns. Not to mention BTB has 3 maps. Three)

I agree on the story for sure. Too much was unexplained/happened before this campaign even started. Too much was left for future DLCs. I still like the campaign gameplay though
