Halo is an arena FPS game. But what is really going to carry Halo infinite through the years and make it not flop at launch is the campaign and the narrative that 343 decides to take. I made this forum to hear everyones ideas about the story and the campaign big or small. Right now I’m going to share mine. I would love to see the flood back. It is looking very likely as of June 24 2020. There is a lot of talk about the flood and I am part of the group that wants to see it back. The other thing I would like to see is more character development. In halo 5 there are wayyyyy too many characters and 90% of them don’t do anything of note in the actual story. I would like to see people like vale and tanaka gone because they are just annoying in my eyes and don’t really serve a purpose. I think the best thing they can do is take vale, tanaka, and blue team and put them in Halo infinite but put them in the background and not a part of the main story. I would still like to see Buck because he has already been developed and flushed out through ODST and guardians so we as the player already have a connection to him. Locke they can do a lot of things with. I don’t really know what because I am not a screenwriter but I think they can do some amazing things with him. And Master Chief they need to make more like halo 4. They showed him having emotions in halo 4 but then took that away in halo 5. What the -Yoink- 343? To expand on that maybe kill off lanky or Halsey so that he can show those emotions. And that brings to my next idea of a big loss or sense of defeat. I want someone of relevance to die. I don’t think that they will kill off chief for the one reason that they want to do a seventh game. It’s just speculation but I think they will do a 7. So in that case kill off Locke, lasky, Halsey(if they’re feeling super ballsy.) Maybe have infinity blow up. Something that causes a sense of defeat. Another thing I would like to see is the stupid -Yoink- jetpack mechanics. It doesn’t feel like halo, it’s just…COD. I want them to do it like reach and 4 where they have these abilities you can pick up that you can use throughout. Things like the jetpack and the hard light shield. As much as I want them to I don’t think they will get rid of everything. I think they’ll keep things like the clamber, slide, and ADS. But they will probably get rid of the jetpack, ground pound, charge, everything else. I want them to get rid of all of it and go back to OG halo 2 and 3 but again I don’t think they will. Another thing is I want to by fighting alongside marines, not spartans. For some reason having the sense that your teammates, these marines, can die very easy and in some levels are only there temporarily because of this. In the 2018 E3 trailer it showed marines so I have high hopes for it. I also want to be fighting on a halo in these more earthy environments. The things I love about halo 2 and 3 is that you are fighting in these real environments. In cities, jungles, beaches. I want to see grass and tress and rocks as I play. Obviously I don’t want that throughout the whole thing but there was pretty much none of that in Halo 5. Maybe a couple levels like genesis and Osiris if you wanna get super technical. But pretty much I want to be on a halo. Another one is I wanna play as chief the whole campaign. I don’t want to be switching characters throughout. Bungie did this amazingly in halo 2 and 343 tried to copy it in halo 5 but failed. Now I just wanna play as chief. Ditch the squad based mechanics. This was the worst -Yoinking!- -Yoink- on the -Yoinking!- planet. Holy -Yoink- was this bad. Most of the reason I dislike halo 5 is because of the squad based mechanics. The fact that you can get knocked down and get back up and how you had to revive your teammates just wasn’t it for me. Again it felt more like fortnite and apex then Halo. My last note is I want to see the prometheans be developed more. I see the promethean pretty much as a second covenant. I’m not gonna like 343 you set up those -Yoinks!- pretty well in halo 4. Sort of glazing the topic of how prometheans are human and made by forerunners. When halo 4 ended I was like holy -Yoink- in halo 5 we’re gonna learn more about these guys like bungie did with the covenant in halo 2. Then you get to halo 5 and they are just there as something to shoot at. Why the -Yoink- are they in the game? -Yoink- 343. The promethean have no purpose in the game whatsoever. There is no explanation as to why they are at places like Kamchatka are meridian. And the warden? Don’t even get me started. My mans is just some glorified promethean with no backstory and is just so that 343 can have a lazy -Yoink- boss fight. Are you -Yoinking!- kidding me? What the hell? I would love some backstory for the prometheans. Maybe show some interaction between the prometheans and give them a leader. Not the warden. That’s a lot to ask and it probably won’t happen but it would be cool. Those are all the things I want for Halo infinite. If you read this reply with what you agree and disagree with about my ideas and maybe even give some of your own. I have another post about halo infinite music, check that out if you like what I said here too.
