The story continues with us?

I’m going to shoot in the dark. What did that mean to you?

To me that meant more then just academy. I hope Spartan Ops is coming back along side FF for that great episodic feel. I hope it’s more fleshed out. Dont get me wrong I KNOW halo is very arena PvP centric. But it doesn’t have to be just that! Fans have shown love towards going head to head with ai for years and Spartan Ops wouldn’t have been such a big let down if there was an option to classic FF those maps.

Tell me what you think

How I perceived it was us (our spartan) will have some sort of storyline that is somehow in someway connected to multi-player.

I remember reading / hearing about something like that a while back.

Could be like SpOps, but with in-game cinematics using your character/friends. I’d think it may look like the cutscenes from the heists in GTAV using your character/friends but with added voices.

Not sure what else but speculation.

^what monk said

for just a second I got scared they were gonna scrap chief

Wonder if it be quite like spartan Ops in the sense chief is debriefed and ourselves put straight into the action on the ring giving us a lot of post content to do.

I think it’s their way of softballing us into a future where eventually Chief just becomes part of the story as our character becomes the main protagonist.

It’s probably just a continuation of their Multiplayer philosophy that Multiplayer is Canon, either Holographic training or war games.

I’d be interested in that but it’s hard to do before you run into the destiny problem. In D1 when we started and all the way up till rise of iron we were just a Guardian. And it should have remained. I don’t want to be THE hero I want US to be the hero. I want the dialogue to be different if you’re with teammates. But that’s a lot of “Gimmie”

However I wouldn’t be opposed to it. But I hope for it to be more then just a Spartan story. MCC proved we could have multiple models. Why not expand the story with more Faceless ODST and Sangheli.

I like your thought process though… It makes sense

To me, alongside what I think others are getting at, it felt like they were saying that what we experience in Multiplayer (and all that it contains) is the story of our Spartans while the campaign of the game is going on. Similar to how Halo 4 our Spartans were running combat sims and going on missions independent from Chief, our Spartans are training and developing their skills in the same way.
Maybe I’m off?

Nice! I tried to keep it general because we simply don’t know how that transition would look. I like Destiny, but I don’t want Halo to totally become it.
Also, part of my thinking this is also believing the game will eventually be off Zeta Halo and be more galactic in scale, so it’s easy for we as individuals to have significant story consequence and introduce countless story options as seasons/DLC.

That is my hope as it is a 10 year plan. Halo is so much more then just Spartans, and there are other worlds other things to do. I can only speculate where this will go.

In a way I hope it does become like destiny. A pelican dropping us off at a location and running objectives before heading back to base

I like this idea, but I want it to still keep that halo vibe because if I wanted to play destiny I would play destiny.

Personally I think this is 343 trying to find a way to distance Halo from being synonymous with Master Chief. They tried to start this process with Halo 5, but unfortunately you’re not going to get a lot of people to love a new character you introduce by making it their sole mission to take down Master Chief. There’s definitely a better way where Locke and fireteam Osiris could of been introduced. Maybe giving them a spin off game where the event’s coincided with what happened in Halo 5. However that’s not what we got, and it made a lot of people upset.

Now does our nameless Spartan become the new focal point for Halo going forward? I don’t expect that to happen. I still expect that they’re going to have key characters that the games get based around. They just will probably become more diversified with the property where Halo becomes much more than just a shooter, and becomes more of what it’s like in the expanded universe. Which has more than enough interesting characters that could carry a game with a awesome story.

It kind of sounds like they are planning to shift the narrative to our multiplayer Spartans in post-launch campaign DLC.

Which is pretty cool if you ask me. So long as it’s handled more like Reach than Spartan Ops.

They’ve been looking for ‘the next main character’ in Halo for quite a while. And we all know how Thorne and Locke turned out. Honestly, your own Spartan is the best route. Noble Six was awesome, and was easily the only playable character across the entire series I think would have been able to be accepted as a replacement for MC for future games. A lot of that came from the fact that they didn’t try to make a character out of Six. They just let him/her be us. Our Spartan. All they need to do is have interchangeable dialogue referring to you as just a single Spartan, or a team of Spartans depending on whether you’re playing single player or coop and boom. You have the new main character/characters of the franchise.

This is what I am worried about. To me it sounds like fancy marketing for customization. So many people will be disappointed if “your story” is just standard multiplayer.
