The Store is Paywalling Fan Favourites and is Insulting

The store wasn’t too bad to me at launch. But now it’s just beginning to disgust me. The Anubis Helmet is what is really starting to make things worse just based on the fact that fan favourite and you have to spend up to $20 (£14.39 for Brits). Yes you may have to get Anubis through req packs but because of its rarity it was really easy to acquire and with how Halo 5 was made you could be able to not spend a dime and get everything you want.

Before this game launched I saw the Anubis Helmet and was excited but seeing it here and not being able to get aggravates me. Why put the stuff people want in a pay wall? If it was something new that looked cool then I would understand but putting Anubis, a fan favourite (To the point GreenSkull has a literal Tattoo related to the armour) into the store has now just shown this game us being used as a cash grab.

Anubis was my looking forward point. I had thoughts of booting up the game and playing till I got that Helmet until it was nowhere to be seen and here it is. In the store asking you to spend money on it. Some might say where’s the surprise? But my respect has completely gone for 343. You overpromised and underdelivered.

And it’s like they knew this would happen. We never see this armour until there’s something new coming out. We know Emiles shoulder is in the game as a customisation option yet we can’t get it in the Battle pass. So where is it gonna be? THE STORE. Instead of doing the normal and logical decision we now need to pay what is likely to be 15 TO 20 POUNDS/DOLLARS FOR SOMETHING THAT IS LOCKED BEHIND AN ARMOUR KIT IN THE DAMN BATTLE PASS.

It’s just a big F you to the community. There is little are to what we want and only to what will be make 343 money

Anubis, Emiles Security Shoulder Piece. What Next? Is 343 going to pour more salt in the wound by selling the ODST for Mark VII in the store at and throw other stuff in it to artificially inflate the price? For real who’s gonna put on a bet on Mark V variant of Mark VII in the store for 20? It wouldn’t be stupid to assume with how ridiculous the store is

If we get into this territory, all the previous games were paywalling the fan favorites and that’s insulting to me.

At least Infinite lets you play the game without spending a dime on it.

I understand that 343i need to put items behind a paywall and those items need to be desirable for people to want to buy them, after all they do need vash coming in as they dont work for free.

But there needs to be balance as to what is accessable to be unlocked for free, whats available on the battle pass and what is in the store.

Plus the cost of items in these “bundles” is too high for what you are getting.
They know people only want, for example, a helmet but bundle in some logos and colour scheme to make it look like its a good deal. Which it isnt.

If people want the helmet and are willing to pay for the helmet whatever price it is, then those extra items are essentially free additions and make it a deal for the player.

It is their money and their choice. If they like something, let them spend the money on it.

It isn’t your wallet to control.

You seem to be confrontational. Relax. People get heated with this topic about spending money…

This is my take on what should happen. There are people out there willing to fork out money to pay for stuff. Fine. There choice. Their money. 343i, make them pay for it. $20 seems to be a common price I see.

However, give the option also to earn it through game play like in Halo 5. You had to grind, spend Req Points to get packs, hope to get it. Rinse, lather, repeat. Eventually you got it. Or better yet had to do something specific to get it. ie Achilles.

I think this would be a good system to employ. Those who suck at the game, or are horribly impatience (imo) can purchase the items. Those who may not be as financially fortunate or who enjoy earning stuff can obtain the same stuff.

Or they could also let us EARN and/or purchase credits which would then solve the problem, for the players anyways.

I designed what I think is the perfect unlock system one that sounds similar to what 343 promised up the post is called “fixing 343’s trash progression (idea)” if you would so kindly check it out please

Yeah but it being f2p isn’t an excuse for this. I get they need to make money back especially after the delay. But $20 for armor? Like if it was $5 I’m sure people would complain but it’s a lot less bitter of a pill to swallow.

I’d buy more of it for $5, but I’m happy with what I get from the battle passes.

Think of it this way, if you strictly only have love for 1 or 2 amours in the entire game and you are going to spend 95% of your time rocking that specific armour I really don’t really feel that it’s that it’s much of an ask that you buy it as a once off payment. Most likely you’re not going to spend anything more than that so I think that seems justifiable. For instance I would probably buy the ODST armor full kit for 15 dollars because that is my favourite armour and I would use that for years. So in theory I’d really be only paying $15 bucks for Halo Infinite and getting to use my favourite armour in the game… I just don’t think that is much of an ask tbh

I would love to have an ODST battle pass. There’s been so many cool variants that it can fill out a whole core of its own.

Flagged^^^ we don’t do that here.

Nah dude, I just don’t agree that you should talk about people like that. It’s a free game mate, if you think that the monetization in the game is a problem, then do not spend your money. You are entirely free to keep your wallet in your pocket.

I’m sorry you’re having a bad day dude & I can see you’re frustrated with the monetization in the game. I do agree with you at least that it should be a little cheaper. But the game is still free and the cosmetics pose absolutely no [Pay-to-win] advantage like the do in call of duty, where in fact the weapons are $35 dollars each and a month later they nerf them. So 343 could be doing much worse. I’ve only spent $15 dollars on the game, nothing more, not $1,100. I’m very clearly a fanboy of Halo, I’ve been playing for 20 years. But I see your insults are only your own frustrations. Hope your day gets better Jesse.

I disagree sir CQB helmet makes me 10% more sick at killstreaks

I think we should have seen this coming for a very long time. Its been a long time coming that Micorsoft would use such a big IP to get abit of money. In my opinion I think what was said about it being less of a bitter pill to swallow is so much more true.

Think about it. More people would probably buy things they wanted if it was at a lower price. If the Anubis Set was 1000 I might actually have bought it (I’m bad with money)

The problem now is that the store is near unchangeable. 343 could go the fallout 76 route and give everyone abit of credits to use and lower the price. We have some in game money to spend while not kicking at the beehive any longer.

And for the love of God please get rid of the 700 credits please or at least let us buy 700

Idk why they don’t just go the Halo 5 route again. If anything it makes people play more which means a higher chance for making money and more player expression because we can earn this stuff.

Agreed, but that would make sense and therefore won’t happen. Not sure why they thought the new system would be better than Halo 5s (and not saying Halo 5s was great by any means) but someone had to make the call. I would be fine with them going back to halo 5s way.
