Dear Wonderful and Loving Halo Players,
I’ve been noticing lately that NO ONE wears a mic when they are playing matchmaking anymore and I think I’ve come to a conclusion of why… It’s because no one cares about the win anymore. In halo 2 and 3 in matchmaking it was rare if someone didn’t use their mic, and if they didn’t have it on you could ask them to put it on and they would. In halo 4 it’s sadly rare that you see someone with a mic on…and you can beg and plead and they don’t even budge toward putting a headset on.
In halo 2-3 if you lost it mattered. You might go down a rank and it counted against your record. In halo 4 it doesn’t even matter. You just get about 400 xp less if you lose…
I can’t wait for CSR for many reasons but this is one of the main ones. Matchmaking is so much fun when people are talking with each other. Even if its trash talking. I love team chat and I want it back in matchmaking.
If you’re still reading this thank you. I want you to try something today. Wear a mic and talk with people, see how much more fun you have. See how many more games you WIN. It will be an overall better experience I’m sure of it!!

its cause this game is full of casuals and noobs now…
alot of hardcore/competitive gamers, including myself are walking away from halo…
all of the pros are going to black ops2…
all of the competitive community is going to black ops2…
I’m going with more Party Chat being the issue then people not wanting to win.
Do I want to win? Yes
Do I want to talk to random players when I can talk to my friends? No

I completely agree. One of the other factors that play into a silent MM I think is the ability to have party chats. If i search by myself a lot of the time I will get teamed with two or three people in the same party chat instead of game chat. I wish 343 did something like COD has in search and destroy. In any playlist that has is 4v4 or requires less players excluding FFA gametypes would not allow players to search or enter games in a party chat.
Honestly I have had no problem finding players withmics
plug yours in and dont be annoying, and people with mics will pop up. I promise.
You think CSR is going to change that when it’s only visible on waypoint? You know the large majority probably won’t pay it any attention at all
There is no more communication in Halo because of the addition of Party Chat and the removal of Proximity Chat. Other people just flip out at the prospect of listening to anyone younger than themselves speak.
Besides what am I going to say? “Hurry! You have 5 seconds to get the rockets form the spot where my red X should have been!”
Well I find that the majority of people who have mics in halo 4 are under the age limit of people who should be playing the game. I’ve also found that I don’t really need to communicate with team members in BTB to be effective(unfortunate but true I know)and that is the main game type I play. Either that or im in friend chat.
i usually have my mic out unless i’m with my friends because i used to play alot of call of duty and i think we all know what the call of duty community is like.
and i don’t usually wear a mic because i always expect everyone to be a child
