The State of BtB Has Made Me Quit

There are many other factors obviously, lack of content along with terrible grindy challenges being #1.

But I’ve been a Big Team Battle fan since it came out, loved it. But now it’s just crap. Of the 3 maps we have for it, vehicles play like -Yoink!- on all of them.

  • Vehicles themselves are also complete garbage and they all need overhauled to be even fun to use.

Seriously 343, all you have to do is go back to H3 to know how vehicles should handle like.

  • Maps are also terribly mediocre.

They are claustrophobic for vehicles and I don’t know if it’s because of map design or just how the game handles, most objectives resulted in ties and I found them not overly fun because of that. It really feels like just Big Team Arena.

Vehicle spawns should be from vehicle pads. Have supplemented pelican drops are ok just as long as the main vehicles like tanks have dedicated pads.

H3 is a hot topic to compare to but let’s be honest here, Halo 3 was the last main Halo title Bungie made and it was pretty much the best Halo has ever been.

So H3 should be used as a benchmark to compare what we have now. And it feels like not a lot.

Theater is clunky as heck to use when it works.

Isn’t this your 4th post saying that you’re done with Halo Infinite?

From OP’s created topics, it appears this is the first time they’ve actually said they’re quitting.

Sorry to hear that OP. I’m hoping some of the ideas to rebalance BTB that have been posted on here get explored by 343.

Hopefully BTB is more fun for you when you decide to come back.

(I’m more of a sir_buttington kinda guy anyway though tbh)

It’s both. The maps are cramped rat mazes, too claustrophobic for both ground and air vehicles. The vehicles themselves are also made of toilet paper, and are a complete joke compared to past titles, when canonically Banished vehicles are supposed to be even more armored than usual Covenant vehicles. Low health, low damage, low traction, low handling, low gravity, low fun. Big Team Arena is the only reliable way to play, outside of I suppose Ghosts and Wasps are still fairly reliable with all directional movement.

The visual effects of the vehicles are also pathetic, compared to even Halo 3. Such low effort. You can really tell Halo Infinite was a game made for the money instead of with love.

Most be a you thing. BTB is simply the best game mode for me currently and I Feel the vehicles are fine for the most part. Only really annoying when they’re camping around bases spawns killing you quickly as you spawn in.

Sorry though that it hasn’t been working out for you.

BTB has always been arguably the best game mode in the entire Halo series. I would even go as far to say as it really defined the CE experience for many people, having fond memories of spending thousands of hours in Blood Gulch never getting tired of playing BTB CTF. It was my favorite mode in every Halo.

Halo Infinite’s iteration of Big Team Battle is the worst in the series. I do not believe that’s arguable. BTB has always been an open battlefield with heavy hard hitting vehicles and heavy weapons at base. Halo Infinite has neither. Both the maps and multiplayer experience feel nothing reminiscent of past Halo titles, especially with the nerf of the Plasma Pistol.

I’d say Halo 2 had probably the worst BTB in the franchise. In Coagulation I would regularly hold down entire teams down if I had both the Sniper Rifle and Rocket Launcher. But I think it’s due to early choices that really cemented that for me… At the start, BTB maps started with SMG starts, which were god awful against anything past a certain range for instance.

I will admit though I miss maps like Waterworks though. One time We did a Bomb run to the enemy base and my team wiped, but I actually got out of the hog I was in with the bomb, gave it a second after everything had died to hope things would settle down, then crawled into their base and planted the bomb. It was a pretty amazing feeling pulling that off.

I do really like this games BTB mode though. The gun play in this game is pretty spot on IMO. Vehicles to me aren’t bad either, although I do admit it gets annoying when they start spawning in tanks or one team has a ton of hornets buzzing around spawns.

That could be where we don’t see eye-to-eye, if you only played Halo 2 BTB, because Halo 2 was the only Halo I didn’t have Xbox Live for, so I never had the Halo 2 multiplayer experience. I played CE, 3, Reach, 4, and 5, and all those BTB modes, even Warzone, were much better than Infinite’s BTB. Vehicles were strong, but both bases were balanced with heavy vehicles and heavy weapons, so only skilled Banshee pilots ever went on crazy sprees. Vehicles in Infinite blow up because the wind was a little breezier than usual, and the game revolves around Halo 4 vehicle and ordinance drops. Even the Thrusters went back to Halo 4 instead of Halo 5. Idk why 343 turned around and went back to 4 when people hated 4. At least they don’t have flagnums and loadouts. When they said they were doing a return to form Halo, I expected Bungie era.
