The sprint discussion thread

It’s fine as is, I like sprint.

For me, sprinting is not the problem in Multiplayer or Campaign, its the cheap-*** insta-shield-takedown/kill that is Spartan Charge that gives players a cheap little perk. Boosting out of the way, if you have those kind of reflexes, does not seem to help much. I think SPARTAN CHARGE should be removed as it does the same as Melee only while making enemies of players who use it constantly all one-shots. PVP is a lot more competitive without it, Groud Pound is already cheap enough though takes time to charge for it to be affective, hence is more balanced.

I would rather keep sprint

I love sprint!! It’s just a video game (got to love this one :'D)!! I like to move faster!! Makes gameplay faster!!! Maps are great now!! Just joking, no one can say that last one…

> I was very good at halo 3. I’m not as good at halo 5 but I still think it’s a better game. All of this whining means nothing. When halo 3 came out the forums were filled with nothing but complaining about how it was the worst game ever. It was endless threads about how the br spread was broken and people saying they were quitting halo. Now Halo 3 was the good old days. I GUARANTEE in 10 years people will talk about how halo 5 was the best game ever and say halo 8 is awful. Screencap this and repost this when halo 8 comes out. Sprint makes halo faster, what is bad about this? I can’t understand why people have a problem with sprint.

In case you didn’t notice, people have been saying Halo 3 was “the good old days” for years. So, we’ll see in no more than five years. That doesn’t seem to be working for Reach or Halo 4, so why do you think it will happen for Halo 5? Also, why are you comparing Halo 3’s BR spread to Halo 5’s, sprint, lack of content, server issues, awful campaign, lack of party restrictions, OP automatics? Not to mention how people have been quitting Halo for the last six years, if you didn’t notice.

You don’t understand why people have a problem with sprint because you didn’t read this topic. If you care to educate yourself, read through it.

Why would they complain about that? And what makes you think that would be the case?

And if we’re successful in getting sprint taken out of Halo 6, you will be more than welcome to play Halo 5 any time you want that “sprint” experience.

On the contrary, the average reaction on the forums towards Halo Reach is much more favorable than it was four years ago. It’s completely true, as time goes on you are more and more likely to find players who like a given game. But there’s nothing mysterious about it. People who are happy with what they get are more likely to stick around than people who are unhappy. The future will always be biased towards people who like the game because those who have something negative to say have left long ago.

You can also look at it in more general terms. New players arrive constantly, whereas old players move on. Years ago this community had a higher portion of players who had started with Halo CE than it has today. These days I’m fairly confident that if you were to look at the distribution of who started with what Halo, most players would’ve started with Halo 3. People are always favorable towards the game they started with, not to mention these people have no context for Halo CE and 2. Therefore we are now seeing Halo 3 as the golden days, not because it was some exceptional game, but because it’s the most represented game in the community. Just a few years ago Halo 2 was at the same position, and Halo 3 was the “meh” that Reach is today. Given enough time, it’ll slowly turn in favor of Reach, at which point you’ll see that being described as “the golden days”.

One thing to take into account, though, is that Halo 3 introduced proportionally more new players than Reach or later games, which means that it will likely take longer for Halo 3 to fade out. However, if Halo is to continue long enough, it will happen eventually.

I want sprint

I agree, I’ve seen a lot of people praise Reach not neccessarily for its gameplay but for all the features it provided: An extended Forge mode (that came with a functioning file browser), Firefight, extensive Spartan customization… not to mention that it was the last game that featured the original art style and playable Elites. I guess if you lower the bar enough, even mediocre games will be able to pass above it.

I agree with that, but that’s more my point. People have always praised Reach as being a great package, just not for having great gameplay. Poor gameplay, which is mostly the point of this thread, rarely becomes good in retrospect.

I wonder how many people like this would still feel this way if someone actually sat down with them and thoroughly explained all the effects sprint has on the game.

Will someone remove this topic from popular topics already we want new popular topics this one has been here for nearly a week

I would still feel the same.

^People better believe that. Pro-sprinters like sprint because they don’t care about the effects and aren’t bothered by them. Educating those people may create an understanding, but not a change of opinion.

You cant possibly know that.

That is an assumption.

I think that maybe they should add a classic mode, where sprint, spartan charge, ground pound and ADS are disabled. Then everyone can stop whining about how it’s bad that Halo is moving forward

I’ve seen this before yet every time someone says this they never go into detail.

I like Sprint. There was a poll awhile back ago with 70% for Sprint and only 30% agaisnt it. -Yoink- Spartan charge though.
