I can understand why some people do not like the sprint feature. Ever since the success of CoD4 many shooters tried emulating the game mechanics (sprint, going prone, ADS, perks, leveling system, customized load-outs, etc). Between 2008 - 2013, the only shooters that did not feel like CoD were Gears of War and Halo. Despite the stiff competition, I think that what made these franchises compete with CoD was the fact that they were unique experiences. Some may see the inclusion of sprinting as an attempt to make Halo more CoD-ish.
On the other hand, the reason why developers have been mimicking CoD’s game mechanics is because they sell. The market will shift towards game mechanics that the publishers see as giving them a good return on their investment (publishers finance the developers to make games and make a profit once the revenue of game sales exceeds the development costs). If more people bought games that didn’t feel like CoD then we probably would not see sprint or other CoD-ish features added to Halo (e.g., weapon skins).
In the end, I am totally cool with Halo using sprint. And given the diversity of the Halo experience, I am sure that 343 Industries could roll out a “classic” mode that preserves the mechanics of the original Halo titles. 343 is smart enough to listen to their customers. Heck, we still have SWAT, and that game mode started 12 years ago when Halo 2 came out.
as a halo veteran I always wondered why the chief couldn’t sprint in the originals. All that technology all that power and all he could do was walk into battle. Epic fail if you ask me
Omg another one of these anti sprint threads again.
I think sprint should stay and honestly at this point I’ve grown so attached to it.
If I want to play a Halo game without that feature I would just play the original trilogy on the MCC. Heck when I played Halos 1-3 I would constantly find myself pressing the X button for sprint in vain without knowing it.

Did you ever play coop, you can clearly see he’s not walking. He’s jogging/ running all the time. Of course you can push the stick a bit less and see him walk. If that’s what you did, I do believe it’s an epic fail.
Here’s a definition of sprint: to run or go very fast for a short distance. Having infinite sprint and accommodating the map design and TTK to this feature is going in the wrong direction. I didn’t like reach, but it at least knew what sprinting meant…
honestly I think we should keep sprint but add a game mode that is much like the original format. Gather fan-made forge recreations of iconic maps from older Halos and have them set to no sprint and all that. That’s just my opinion though

You know, words aren’t actually defined by dictionaries. They simply record common usage of words. It’s clear that “sprint” in the context of Halo refers to the ability to run faster at the push of a button.

Some times, I almost felt that the Marines could outrun me.
I don’t believe that removing sprint will make halo any better. I love the sprint feature and think that 343 have made a brilliant game and I hope to see this type of qulaity in all their future halos
hopefully halo 6 will be better than halo 5, i dont get y bungie sold halo, its ironic since they just made an identical game to it, but however halo has the bet campaign thats y i like halo. also when will halo 6 come out and what will happen…

Maybe next year & no-one here knows what will happen.

A prime example of pro sprint people having no argument except they like it and anti sprint people having a legitimate idea of how sprint badly effects gameplay
