Or just take out sprint completely and use it as a powerup like overshield and camo.

Halo CE, 2 and 3 have the same BMS, Halo 5 has the highest BMS of all Halo games.

Keep the map measurements and increase the bms to 120%

No, it actually wasn’t. There’s data on this.
A unit speed test between the games. (Using his tests, Halo 3 is actually very slightly faster than Halo CE, 2, and Reach, but software data says CE-3 are all the same speed at 2.25 units per second.)

> The reason this rumor spreads around is because the difference in FOV makes it feel slower.
As a Halo Player since 2010. My first Halo game Online was Halo: Reach. And I Didn’t mind sprint because I didn’t really see the “destruction” it caused to the halo formula. I loved the gameplay of reach and to this day it remains one of my move favourite games to play. I played the previous halo games (Especially Halo 3) and it seemed both different and similar. I loved Halo 3 after investing my time into the multiplayer some more and finding out what people meant by it being the “best Halo game” Just a few weeks ago I was playing MCC and my favourite game to play there was Halo 2A. I loved the mechanics of the game. I only had two criticisms (customisation and maps) other than that id say it was the best halo game formula arguably. I am neither for or against sprint and I do see the point in it being included in a Halo game Whereas it does break the formula that a lot of the older generation of Halo players love. A lot of people are against sprint and I guess they have a reason to. Sprint does break a formula in a negative way but like I said it does change the flow and hopefully I don’t need to elaborate what I mean by that as it is fairly obvious . I can see a change as a good thing but when I played halo 5 I was disappointed with Halos Spartan abilities. It Broke the formula and felt a lot more fast paced (Flow). Sprint increases speed of gameplay (Arguably so) but I see it opening choices to the player in multiplayer as they cant throw grenades or shoot or melee. But then again we had those teleporters and grav lifts from the older titles that did that for us. Yes and it got us somewhere faster compared to walking the rest of the way from spawn. Sprint does just that but in a different way as an ability to the players. I liked Halo 5’s sprint the most. As it didn’t feel “Ice skating” as people put it. I can see it as a bad thing because again, it breaks a gameplay formula and dependant on the speed of sprint it is damaging to the natural gameplay of Halo. I Believe that every new Halo game has the potential to be my favourite game regardless if sprint is included. I just want a good game that feels like Halo regardless of sprint or not.

> > > Can I Make a point? how does a short boost (maybe 25 per cent) to the player’s speed by holding down the movement button can break the game? Also how does it break the game if all players are capable. I cant prove my point because its obvious what sprint does. You know what it can do and your forcing me to tell you something which is easy to grasp. Consider this In Halo CE the pistol was OP wasn’t it? it outclassed the assault rifle as a starting weapon its the main reason its famous. in Halo 2 Button Combos broke the game because not everyone could preform them in game. the game. And some people who say sprint is bad say that Halo 2 wasn’t broken. It was. Halo Reach armour lock. The players worst nightmare. Sprint only increases movement speed by 25 per cent. if you could shoot while sprinting everyone would be sprinting and it would make long range weapons feel more useless. And if you increased base movement to the same speed as sprint it wouldn’t be halo it would feel more Doom. Again im considering sprint I wouldn’t care too much if it isn’t in Halo: Infinite.
> >
> > Because that 25% speed boost prevents you from doing anything else until you stop boosting. Meanwhile everything else in the game treats you as if you are boosting, when you’re not. The game is basically telling you to Sprint, but at the same time punishing you for listening and using it. But it’ll also punish you if you don’t use it because everyone else can use it.
> >
> > “Consider this In Halo CE the pistol was OP wasn’t it? it outclassed the assault rifle as a starting weapon its the main reason its famous.”
> > Not really? I mean it was OP against Hunters, but there was also plenty of ammo to abuse that. It wasn’t more powerful than the Assault Rifle, it had a different role than the Assault Rifle, which gave it more use in average situations. Not even pros can reliably get a 3 shot kill every time. There are even times where you see people drop the Magnum for the sniper and keep the AR, because the AR is the best tool for clean up kills.

> > But you just said Sprint is very minimal, increasing speed by only 25%. Not much with the sandbox would realistically change because they’re already meant to hit Sprinting targets, so long range weapons wouldn’t be any more useless than you see them now.
> >
> > And for the DOOM comment, that still plays noticeably different from Halo, and it’s mainly the FOV that makes it look faster than it is.
>
> I’ve seen different to what you say on MCC. Besides the game shouldn’t encourage you to sprint because you could make yourself a target if you constantly sprint because you can shoot or throw grenades. You could only sprint to retrieve a power weapon or assume a position on larger maps or to reach an area quickly. Also if you claim that sprint makes long range weapons just as useless as armour abilities now that is false. It doesn’t. I have friends who agree that thrusting and dashing about is bad. and it turns halo 5 more into a fast paced CQC type game. doesn’t mean to say they are not useful. if you could shoot while sprinting everyone would be sprinting.
Im talking About Halo 5.But I would agree with you on the term that no one should be encouraged by the game to sprint. If its in the game it shouldn’t be thrown around and bragged about being mandatory to survive a game.

We should keep the Old style BMS from the first three. It seems effective if you ask me.

> I don’t Literally mean Actual Harassment Pal, I cant leave my Phone without a notification. Sprint DOES increase flow and people like myself feel like it is because its an Illusion that sprint makes the game faster. Your second Point you are right. TTK needs to be lowered down a bit with some of the Automatic weapons. Sprint is a cliché you couldn’t say that louder. Its much like the Fast paced formula games started to adapt. Again I just want a Good game that feels like Halo. Regardless of sprint. Anti Sprinters have a point. Which I support you on. Sprint was originally supposed to be implemented into Halo 2 but was scrapped due to Cuts. Bungie would have put in Sprint. yes we had the teleporters and grav lifts but that’s what sprint is there for. But in a different manner. But if it does increase the flow. Again Im not defending sprint.

That might be true, but the maps are so spread out that you don’t feel like you’re moving any quicker. Plus when you have Sprint to directly compare it to it makes it feel like you are moving slower while walking.
I don’t think that anyone wants to feel slow, which is something that isn’t talked about much, and is something that Sprint indirectly does. You could have base movement be 120% of what we are used to, but if Sprint still exists that is going to feel slow. IMO, the best way to move forward is increasing Field of View, or at least adding a slider that we can control, ditching Sprint, and maybe slightly increasing base movement. I don’t know if it really needs to be increased all that much as long as maps are scaled appropriately, and FoV is high.
I could be wrong here, but I believe in ODST Bungie actually lowed BMS, and increased FoV, and the result is a game that I think feels, at worst, equal to Halo 3 in terms of speed, but in which you are moving significantly slower.

If you’ve ever seen me play FFA or Arena, I hardly sprint anyways lol. I wouldn’t care if it was removed or it stayed.

Yea, its kinda odd how the optimal way to play the game is to just not sprint. Even for most jumps you don’t have to sprint to clear the gap. The only reason to sprint is to get to a more favorable position off spawn.
My biggest problem in Halo 5 is that if you get shot while sprinting, you stop and have to sprint again. I always disable that in Custom Games because it is annoying not only for me, but for my friends who play with me. Unlimited sprint is fine with me, but how can you run if you are getting shot? It’s too extreme for the players of low skill because they don’t necessarily make the best choice on when to engage in a gun fight, so when they try to run for cover, they get stopped with the Stopping Power mechanism enabled in Matchmaking and they end up dying. I love the concept of having consequences for bad choices, but Stopping Power is too much. Instead, have the speed of the sprint decreased or have Stopping Power disabled.

You only get stopped if you aren’t at full sprinting speed while getting shot at. I think it’s good for lower skilled players because it will teach them to try and make better choices before engaging in a gun fight.
I agree with teaching lower skilled players to make better decisions before engaging in a gun fight, but even when I was sprinting at full speed, I was still stopped when I got shot. It really doesn’t make any sense. But what about the highly skilled players? Should it be the same for them, or just have it in casuals and not in HCS playlists?
You don’t get stopped when sprinting at full speed so you either weren’t at full speed or you accidentally pulled back on the control stick causing you to stop. I’ve done that before. It should be the same for everyone.
That’s odd. Because every time I would start sprinting, about 3 seconds later, someone would shoot at me and I would stop sprinting. For me to be sprinting for 3 seconds seems to be a long time to reach full speed.
