Its probapro the balancing and I think that should be improved within halo rather than sprint being removed

Did it die because of the movement speed? You’re making the same argument that pro-sprinters have complained about when anti-sprinters said that sprint killed modern Halo.

Im assuming you didnt read my last reply.
Abilities are common within sci-fi shooter. Anti-sprinters have to stop giving overwatch as an example. Sprint really isnt the problem, its the balance of movement and shooting within the game. I think map design should be focused on rather than sprint, and not be designed around abilitues but playstyle, like halo 3.
I think people want ground pound and spartan charge removed way more than they want sprint removed. Then again we should see what 343 do with the beta. I could play without sprint but I don’t know about new players as they are used to fast paced action and not the steady pace of halo.

I respect that, like I said I’m neither pro or anti sprint, movement was not the reason I stopped playing Halo 5. I was introduced to online gaming with Doom, Quake, Wolfenstein, Halo 2 etc. TryHardFan asked about Halo with Doom’s bms, I would like that.
As stated Doom did lose a lot of players, but it was not because of the movement, and the game had an astounding single player campaign that me and my fellow Doom players bought it for, Arcade Mode doubled the fun when it was added. Multiplayer is pretty good too, imo, and it shows that you can have fast paced play without a sprint button.
What 343i do in Halo Infinite remains to be seen, I know many players that are expecting a 100% turn around. I may be wrong, but I think they’ll be disappointed. I expect them to have a mix of old and new, Halo 5 lost players for more reasons than sprint, please believe me, I’m one of them.

I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitive halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!

Don’t get me wrong, but have you ever played the Halos with the Run&Gun Formular? (or at least seen some gameplay-footage on any platform)
You know that the things you’ve mentioned were common in these games, right? The only difference is that everyone had access to teleporters & Man Cannons.

Yup, they can (Overwatch, except for one character)
Pace is not defined by animations. Halo with the Run&Gun Formular is still one of the most-fast paced FPS out there.

Doom has customized loadouts. You know, just like what Halo 4 has. Halo 4 being probably the worst Halo game to date when it comes to player retention. Might be a correlation there.
Also, I’m watching Let’s Play - DOOM Multiplayer. Within the first four minutes, two of the guys playing say, “I LOVE how fast this game is!” That’s in a game without sprint.

Not every game immediately goes bad because Sprint is in it.
But that doesn’t mean Sprint belongs in every game without question or issue, nor does it mean a game needs Sprint to be successful.

If this unit conversion (32 units is one meter) is assumed to hold, and this speed is accurate, then the movement speed in Doom 2016 is about 23.6 feet per second, which is only marginally faster than the 22.5 feet per second of the original Halo trilogy, and marginally slower than Halo 5 at 25.9.
I was curious about how the movement speed in Doom 2016 actually compares to Halo, because it really seems to me like a lot of the “speed” is just the effect of the FoV, and it can’t be that much faster than Halo if I just look at how the objects move past (trying to ignore the distortion from the FoV). My hunch obviously isn’t a reliable measurement, and the above’s the best the internet gave me (and should be taken with a grain of salt). Apparently I’m the only one interested in comparing Doom 2016 to the real world.

I actually have wanted to convert from DOOM units to Halo units, but I am far from the guy equipped to do that. That’s try I try to limit myself to saying “X feels faster than Y” since I don’t have much data. I usually only had one or two people tell me Doom is moving as fast as Halo but only going at their word.
I’m just trying to convert Warthog units across each game and that’s proving difficult enough.

There’s a huge difference between giving every player sprint and putting them on a HUGE map with lots of open areas and giving every player sprint on a compact map with lots of cover. Does either Fornite or PUBG have gametypes that take place on small maps like Halo does?
Hey, you might have heard of Counter Strike and how popular it is. It has no sprint.

With Halo you can take the easy way out, because up to Halo 4 the world units (used to describe coordinates and object sizes internally and in Forge) literally can be translated as 1 unit = 10 feet. In Halo 5 it’s almost the same, except the units that you see in Forge have been scaled back by 10, so you literally have 1 Forge unit = 1 foot in Halo 5 (the internal units are still the same as in previous games).
I don’t personally own Doom 2016, so I can’t do anything with it myself. If I had it, I’d probably try using the explosive barrels in SnapMap assuming they’re the size of a barrel to get a baseline measurement. If there are multiple objects that can be cross referenced for a sanity check, the better. It seems like the tool also supports boxes (similar to kill boundaries, hills, etc. in Halo), which can be used to measure sizes and distances because the game displays their dimensions. I’d probably use that on one hand to measure a barrel, and on the other hand to set up a track of known length for measuring the movement speed.
I’m just putting this out there in case anyone with the game is interested in carrying it through.
> 2533274970452875;16280:
> I feel slow in the older games because I cant sprint
“Feel” is the operative word there.
Play Halo CEA in Remastered view, use the Assault Rifle, and go through Truth and Reconciliation. Watch the edges of your screen. You will see that you’re going fast. You can “feel” it. There are ways to make players feel faster. DOOM 2016 did a lot of that. Even without Sprint, DOOM 2016 feels far and away faster than Halo 5, even at max speed.

That was a good one. But I still dont understand why sprint is a huge problem or why you cant accept a but of gameplay change.
And as I’ve already said if they do something like overwatch where you arent actually sprinting but have the animation ill be completely fine.
