The sprint discussion thread

> Also, map design seemed to be better when there was less of an emphasis on verticality,

The -Yoink-? Map design was at its best when there was emphasis on verticality. Damnation, Construct, so on. Meanwhile in Halo 5 you have maps like Empire which barely have any verticality at all.

Nothing about that statement makes sense to me. Unless I guess if you’re a fan of circular, 2-level maps like Midship and Citadel. In which case, please, god no, not even more of those.

I should have been more clear, I meant verticality in terms of player movement, such as clamber and ground pound, not verticality as a concept in map design. Construct (a map I love) is vertical more so in a layered way where there are multiple flights of map to move on. However, verticality in Halo 5 is just making sure players can move around the map easily with features like clamber; everything must be reachable by clamber, which leads to maps being very clustered and tight, whereas clamber on Construct would help the player in very few instances do to how the map is spaced out.

I do like Midship in Citadel, but variety is key for a fun multiplayer. Most maps in Halo 5 stick closely to two-layered symmetrical verticality, which gets boring after awhile.

Entertaining, infuriating, but ultimately, it’s one of the least meaningful debates you can have.

This guy gets it! Why is everyone acting like the world is ending?

i suppose the campaign may be an interactive version of those things…sort of…but multiplayer is an experiance…they arent necessarily the same thing…and if you dont like something about that experiance for reason X Y AND Z…its not unreasonable to request change…especially when that experiance is so quickly and drastically changed from previous titles

If you don’t want to discuss anything then don’t come to a forum.

Saying “this topic doesn’t even matter” just because you can’t come up with a legitimate response is just nihilistic -Yoink- posting. I could say the same about any discussion in life, nothing -Yoinking!- matters so why bother putting forth effort?

My advice: Go back to “just enjoying the game” then. Seriously, with that logic why are you even here to begin with?

If I see a post or thread I don’t feel like discussing, I don’t go and reply to it with vapid nonsense. I just ignore it.

try putting yourself in our shoes…reverse the roles…imagine theres something in a franchise you believe is ruining the game…so you try to voice your opinion on it and someone who disagrees with you basically says shut up it doesnt matter…thats not a reasonable respons

I am a HUGE starwars fan and I stopped playing battlefront very early on because it’s a terrible game but I’m not going on forums and complaining about it. I simply stopped playing it.

I think they should keep sprint, makes the game feel better. I respect your opinion though.

Agreed. Sometimes you even have the advantages of not sprinting.

It would be a different scenario if you had been playing far superior Star Wars Battlefront games for well over a decade, and then the newest one comes out and is a terrible game. You would want things to go back to how they were when the games were good.

EDIT: also, “Star Wars” is two words.

I’m so -Yoinking!- over this thread already. We get it. Some people hate print and think it’s the devil incarnate. Some people like sprint and think it’s a useful mechanic and others just don’t care. We won’t know till halo 6 whether it’s in or not and at this stage I’d say 343 have already made a call on if it’s going to be there. Now can we drop it and move on.

I did play the superior battlefront games that came before! I played the hell out of those games along with the first 2 halos! Just because I didn’t make a big deal over the new STAR WARS game doesn’t mean I didn’t play the older ones!

its not just about halo 5 man…its about halo 6 and halo 7…if we dont voice our concerns about what we feel is wrong with the game now then nothing will change…and halo is my main franchise…i dont want to stop playing it…and i dont have many options to fall back on with halo…MCC is a laggy semi working shell of older halo games and halo reach is like 20 frames per second with backwards compatibility…halo 5 as a general fps shooter isnt bad…but its certainly not what i and many other expect from halo specifically.

Actually after playing Halo 5: Guardians I can say the way sprint is implemented actually progresses the Halo franchise in a way that is good for Halo… faster competitive movement and additional gameplay mechanics albeit with a few tweaks but sprint is here to stay it seems, best get use to it.

I’m sorry, but how is it that being able to run faster destroys a game franchise again?

Is it really a problem with the game or YOUR problem with the game. Halo 5 is probably the most fun and balanced game with sprint. In all reality, sprinting doesn’t affect the game in a negative way, in fact, it just diversifies it past halo expectations where we always expected people to just run around with BRs and Carbines. Now people are more cautious because a sprinting with an smg could turn the corner, plus you can’t just sprint around and gain shields. You either choose to hide where you are and risk getting grenaded or you run and risk getting gunned down from behind or in front. It’s not like Halo 4 where you just run like a maniac and guerrilla warfare it, theirs consequences and choices, though people abuse spartan charge, though it’s been nerfed.

As long as the next ones are complete I’m fine with the way multiplayer mechanics are progressing and we get a good single player story.
P.S get a life.

It’s not my problem. It’s a problem.

You say it doesn’t affect the game in a negative way, but we’ve explaining it this whole thread and as I’ve said earlier, you’ve shown a profound misunderstanding on game mechanics and the how’s and why’s in regards to how the work.
