Wait, so things only become downgrades once they are removed? Loadouts were not a downgrade in Halo 4? Why they were removed then?

They were a downgrade I mean something is a down =grade when over 50% of the community agree. Spartan ops was barely played and almost all of the community was against loadouts and guess what? Both were removed.

Loadouts were an upgrade when it released with Reach. Further upgraded in 4 which also introduced it’s variation of firefight with Spartan Ops (which I found quite fun.) Sprint, along with the other Spartan Abilities, are also an upgrade. If I wanted to play Halo the same way since Halo 1 I would just play Call of Duty Modern Warfare series. Sprint is essential (for the games in which it has been engineered into), enjoyable, and adds to the arena feel of Halo. All this is my personal opinion, of course.

That’s a strange way to define “downgrade”, but okay. How do you know that over 50% of the community wanted to get rid of loadouts, or Spartan Ops? How do you know that over 50% of the community does not want to get rid of sprint? Do you have data to support those claims?

Relative to what? I thought we were only talking about 4 and 5 because you said so? Are we saying that Spartan Ops and Loadouts are downgrades because… A previous game in the series did it better?

Loadouts seriously messed with balance, and Spartan Ops was 60 dollars gated story DLC. I’m glad both are gone.
Spartan Abilities, alongside Sprint, are far from upgrades. They also mess with game balance rather heavily (as we’ve already discussed for the last 30 or so pages, specifically for Sprint)
Ultimately, I refer you back to that. I don’t see how giving players an uninterruptible dash attack, what is essentially a free rocket, a free vantage point and other “enhancements” creates a fair and balanced game.

I miss the old days of pick up n’ play Halo.

What I have a hard time understanding is why something is a downgrade or upgrade based entitely on their removal or if they stay, yet fail to define the actual reasons as to why you consider them downgrades or upgrades.

Although now it’s apparently based on popular opinion.

So, if everything removed was a downgrade.
Sprint too would be regarded by you as a downgrade had it been removed, and you would not be arguing for its return.
Am I to conclude with all that information, that you defend things which are ingame because they are in the game, and are against reimplementing things which were at some point removed. All that based on what you percieve as popular opinion.

It’d then be safe to say that you’d be against sprint’s reimplementation in the next Halo installment if sprint isn’t present in Halo Infinite. No?

A lot of people loved Invasion and Campaign Theater, but that was removed… I guess those were downgrades too?

If I enjoy something or see the value in something, I will pay for it. I watched the game movie of H5 on YouTube because I had mixed feelings about it. I was still meh about it, but my inner Halo fan still wanted to get it. I’m satisfied that I did. H5’s multiplayer has been the most fun I’ve had in a Halo game since 2010’s Reach. So all the mechanics involved in H5, such as Sprint, have ONLY added to my enjoyment of H5 individually and Halo as a series. I say that the effort and money 343 put into Spartan Abilities in H5 has, overall, profited the company not just monetarily but also as a creative team. The feedback 343 receives is vital to their continued mission. Yes, cater to the audience so you can make some money off of it. Also, cater to yourselves (as in 343 cater to themselves) as they are the ones charged with the production of the core Halo IP and therefore have either complete or more than half creative license (seeing as Microsoft actually has quite the investment in 343.) I just hope that the devs are satisfied with their complete project which we know as H5. That said, dear 343 employee(s) reading this: thankyou for Sprint and Spartan Abilities in general. It’s added to the enjoyment of the game. As for Halo Infinite, do what you want and enjoy making it because I’ll still buy it and play it.

Using the “if it was removed, it was a downgrade” reasoning… split screen is a downgrade by that definition… and yet 343 has promised it will be in all future Halo games.

This is why I like to look at something in game as an upgrade/downgrade based on data and facts: Sprint and thrust, 100%, slow down gameplay because it’s easier to get to cover quickly in a firefight and avoid death given Halo’s large time to kill. The solution to this is to either: speed up the game by reducing time to kill (the CoD method) or speed uo the game by slowing down players (counterintuitive, I know, but still). I don’t think the community at large is ready for a full slowdown, so I think we should return to 110% or so of Halo 3 movement speed with the current sprinting animation as the default walk animation; therefore, it FEELS faster than it is, while realistically not being that much faster. Furthermore, enemies could also receive a speed boost and weaponry receive a slight range boost to compensate for the additional movement speed. Maps could return to Halo 3’s design style, just a touch larger.
All this assuming we remove the infernal spartan charge and ground pound along with thrust, which does a great deal in slowing down gameplay as well.
It really makes me angry that Halo is trying to be a modern warfare ripoff.

If sprint annoys you so much, just don’t use it. As for me, I’d rather not feel like a tortoise holding a DMR.

That’s kinda not how Sprint works.

That’s like saying “Oh if you don’t like jumping, don’t use it!” - Well what happens when you reach a ledge?

And what about the other people who always jump?

> 2535460882584500;15776:
> If sprint annoys you so much, just don’t use it. As for me, I’d rather not feel like a tortoise holding a DMR.

It doesn’t really help that the map is designed in such a way that Sprint is neccessary.

Saying “just don’t do it” when map design effectively forces you to do isn’t a valid solution.

> If sprint annoys you so much, just don’t use it. As for me, I’d rather not feel like a tortoise holding a DMR.

If no sprint annoys you so much, then just pretend you’re going faster. Simple. It’s about as helpful as your suggestion. I just wanted to have you know how frustrating what you just said is since you’re about the fifth person to suggest this in as many days.

Key word ‘holding’. As for me, I’d rather have the ability to move and shoot at all times which you can’t do while sprinting, and no, saying just don’t use it isn’t going to cut it like others have pointed out.

> 2535460882584500;15776:
> If sprint annoys you so much, just don’t use it. As for me, I’d rather not feel like a tortoise holding a DMR.

The problem is not us, I don’t want my enemy to use this ability either. In order to catch you up, I’d also have to use sprint.
Besides that you’d get a lot of disadvantages in H5’s sandbox. Spartan Charge, Ground Pound, every weapon is designed around this horrible movement system.

Honestly. All the people, who are begging for the real, core Gameplay of Halo (the majority) come up with good arguments. At this point it’s up to 343, to listen to the right, quality feedback.

I play Halo every single day. I don’t play other games. I use sprint often. It’s obviously well thought out by the game designers and works as intended - in this game. Seems to me that people are asking for Halo 5 to be one of the previous Halo games. That doesn’t really seem practical, but I suppose 343 could create playlists that didn’t allow sprint similar to the Halo 3 Throwbacks. Would that make the anti-sprint people happy?

Why should this make the people happy? We pay 60€ for this game (in Europe), why should we be happy to have one single playlist, which isn’t even designed for the true, core gameplay?
What the majority of the Halo Fandom want’s is a full Halo Game (Campaign & Multiplayer), designed around the true Formular.

Just because you disable sprint, it doesn’t make a Game “classic”

We want infinite to be no sprint

#nosprintinfinite

Make it trend, everyone.

Where do people get the idea that because we want Sprint removed that we would like all games to be a clone of CE, 2, or 3? The simple fact that the original 3 Halo games are all very different should make it fairly clear that we are not against change, only against how Halo is changing.
