“Melodramatic wording”. Well, excuse me. I clearly have no right to a choice of words.

Also, my warning has been proven again and again over the last several hours. As a matter of fact, the quote up there ^^ is already a fine exhibit. Of course, the rest is you just rambling on about “passion for a topic” and lecturing me in a game forum, so I’ll leave it be.

Upset? All that happened was I got 5v1’d in an inconsequential internet argument. Do you think I’m losing sleep over this or that I’m “waiting to strike”? Also, I don’t recall telling people to go play a different game. Of course, my memory is far from perfect, but I think I’d remember something like that.

Also, bringing up the ban? If we’re going to stoop to petty directed attacks, Mr. Anime Gamertag, come up with something better. Honestly, if you’re going to throw this much of a hissy fit over a criticism of the thread, I can only imagine what an actually directed insult might do to you.

Now before you inevitably reply to this, develop a sense of irony. Your posts only serve to prove my point.

The aim of the thread is to talk about sprint, you fail to do so with nearly every single post, you instead just attack the users…no one attacked you, just criticised your opinion and your poor behaviour.

If this thread is so inconsequential and meaningless to you why do you have so much vested interest in being nasty, bitter and hostile?

I don’t know what the number of people disagreeing with you have to do with this, aren’t they all “legion”, saying the same thing? That just means you only need to disprove it once and the whole “collective” argument goes away. You make it sound like you’re actually playing a video game where the number of people gives a definitive advantage.

“waiting to strike”, considering you said you were done with this thread on such an “inconsequential topic”, and you came here looking for someone to agree with you so you can make that comment. Sooo…yes?

And in the event you aren’t here to do that, then what are you here for? Whatever excuse you’ll make will probably be off topic.

I mean directed attacks don’t mean anything to me, you’ve already shown your intentions in the thread from that high horse of yours, *Mr. “Spartans can’t swim or else it’ll shock their brains and kill them.”*Look, all I’m asking is why is “increase BMS” so bad? You never actually answered that since you went on your “crusade against anti-sprinters.” All you did is make fun of the idea.

Sure, even if my posts may serve to prove whatever point you have, your posts continue to be off-topic at best, calling out others at worse, so really your posts prove my point.

5v1, more people each with their knowledge, and in each of their memories obscure knowledge. Hence, 5v1. Basic logic.

Secondly, I’m here because of the Halo Infinite hype and whatever speculations might arise.

Again Mr. Super Saiyan, you really have to do better than that.

Moving on, I think an increase in BMS is only an alternative, not a solution. Like I’ve previously stated, I think Sprint opens up more possibilities for engagement methods than BMS does. I don’t think it’s a a bad idea, it’s simply not my preferred path for this series going forward.

And to reiterate, your posts are yet another one of your group tirades, so your posts prove my point. In this department, we might’ve reached an impasse.

Take your personal issues to PMs. This is a thread about discussing the mechanics of sprint and not your personal squabbles.

5 people with different knowledge all coming towards the same conclusion. It’s not like your argument, if valid, only has 1/5 of an effect. If Sprint so solidly belonged in Halo, a concrete argument would shut down possibly all 5 at once.

*“Secondly, I’m here because of the Halo Infinite hype and whatever speculations might arise.”*Which has literally nothing to do with this thread, considering this is the Sprint discussion thread and Infinite hasn’t shown anything in terms of gameplay yet.

*“Like I’ve previously stated, I think Sprint opens up more possibilities for engagement methods than BMS does.”*Finally, on topic for once. Now if only it can stay that way.

I believe that it doesn’t. I believe that BMS does literally everything that Sprint is set out to do and more, without being another resource to manage. Pretty much every change in Halo 5’s gameplay and updates was to accommodate for Sprint and indirectly “nerf” it, and even 343i themselves admitted it was purely for marketing reasons.

Switching to increasing BMS keeps the “moving fast” aspect of Sprint which is what most people wanted, while maintaining the movement and “gun-ready” engagements that was there in previous Halo games, which is what people against Sprint wanted.

The only reason I’m being “nasty, bitter and hostile” is because of the attacks directed towards me. I feel like this thread is hostile and confrontational, generally unappealing. Of course, I’ve found that banter couldn’t change that.

I feel like it’s about time we resolved this tension between us. While my original intentions were banter and some jokes here and there, it’s spiraled out into a massive flamewar. I have no animosity towards any of you. I think that you’re all ridiculously sensitive, but I’m not getting into that here.

I still stand by my warning to BalancedForce. Despite that, I apologize. My original intentions were to cut some tension, but it’s devolved into an exchange of insults. I apologize to you Celtic, Vegeto, Delta, and the rest. I’m sorry that I insulted you guys, I stooped low for a cheap win online, and that was wrong of me. My original post starting this was unintentionally provocative, and I went too far defending it.

I sincerely hope we can move past this, and I hope to have some real and meaningful discussions with you guys down the line. Best of luck to you.

Yours,

Pretty much every change in Halo 5’s gameplay and updates was to accommodate for Sprint and indirectly “nerf” it, and even 343i themselves admitted it was purely for marketing reasons.

> Switching to increasing BMS keeps the “moving fast” aspect of Sprint which is what most people wanted, while maintaining the movement and “gun-ready” engagements that was there in previous Halo games, which is what people against Sprint wanted.

Seeing as they’re professional game designers, I’d honestly be shocked if they decide to keep sprint knowing full well that it restricts their map and weapon design, and could easily be replaced with an increase in bms and maybe an fov slider. Might as well be purposely splitting the community, all for the sake of “immersion”.

Problem is, people don’t understand why Sprint messes with gameplay. They’re either not active here, don’t believe us, or have a myopic view of the problem. Therefore, there are some small problems with just up and removing Sprint. Not that I want it to stay, mind you. It’s a terrible mechanic.

Should Sprint be removed circa Halo Infinite, they’ll likely have to come to Waypoint and explain themselves to the portion of the fan base that wouldn’t understand such a decision.

It almost makes me feel bad for the employees who don’t have much voice in 343. I remember I was listening to LateNightGaming’s podcast with Favyn and he mentioned that a level designer at 343 told him he hates the enhanced mobility because every new mechanic presents another barrier for him to create maps around.

Rumours from a long time ago have it so that i343 were split on sprint and the other mobilities, and that it essentially was some higher ups who made the call for their inclusion.

I absolutely love sprint and the other athletic abilities that Halo 5 brought. It was finally a Halo game where I felt I could move and made the game more immersive. I was the Spartan. I dunno, maybe I’m just old school… Like Mario Bros on the NES old school. Remember how Mario could sprint, slide, ground pound the Goomab’s, smash through walls, pick up the turtles and destroy everything with them and then clamber up into the clouds. Ah man, classic game play !! I guess no sprint and stuff like that is just modern gaming. Seems restrictive. Hopefully Halo Infinite will go back to old school gaming where it includes super human athletic abilities…

How?

Why go back to Mario? When you can go back further, to Pong? Where you had one BMS and strafing was insanely important.

I think that sprint should stay, it only adds to the gameplay possibilities.

What kind of gameplay possibilities are we talking about?

I’d be shocked if they got rid of it. They knew what it caused since H4 and probably Reach, but they just nerfed sprint instead of getting rid of it. Now with them teasing a possible open world concept, I think it’s even more hear to stay.

Yeah, a 343 dev at a GDC conference mentioned it was one of the most contentious debates they had.

Well thankfully they made the right decision in the end. And sprint has continued to evolve ever since, offering players more immersive gameplay, more movement options, and creating more unique combat encounters.

> Well thankfully they made the right decision in the end. And sprint has continued to evolve ever since, offering players more immersive gameplay, more movement options, and creating more unique combat encounters.

“Muh emmersion” is far less important than solid gameplay.
“More movement options” is nonsense. It does nothing to increase player movement capabilities. The movement options are actually less because you can only Sprint forward or very slightly to the left or right while still moving forward.
“Unique combat encounters” is also rubbish. You sprint into a combat encounter and you’re forced to stop sprinting in order to use your weapon. As a result, it nixes your capability in combat.

Sprint does nothing but harm the game by making hitscan weapons either unreliable or too powerful. Maps are designed around sprint. Sprint does nothing but damage Halo, and it’s inclusion since day one has been doing damage to the franchise and the multiplayer experience. There’s a reason that the Sprint system has received nerf after nerf from day one. Your justification for Sprint reads like a baseless PR statement.

Continued to evolve; so far the most nerfed ability to still be featured, its usefullness has decreased plenty.

More immersive gameplay; highly subjective, and I’d even dare say it’s on a subconcious level you make that call, unless you make a concious decision to work against the notion that a game you play is immersive to you.

More movement options; moving forward slighlty faster, having a slightly longer jump length. That’s it.

Unique combat encounters; sprint isn’t used in Combat.
