> In other words, you’re suggesting armor abilities as pick-ups? I’ve never been completely opposed to the idea, but I think that if you’re going to go there, there are much more interesting possibilities than sprint. Ignoring all the problems relating to it, sprint is quite a boring mechanic.
They really should just expand on the power-up system. It’s arguably one of the most under-utilized parts of Halo’s sandbox. Though Equipment or Armor Abilities as map pick ups might also be something worth returning to. If we were to use the latter, I don’t think they should be rechargeable.

I cant believe with as many things that are wrong or glitchy with halo 5 that there have been so many responses to sprinting. Leave sprint alone. If u don’t like it, then don’t use it. For those of us who like it, we have the option to use it. Problem solved. Now stop complaining about it. They had it in reach just not infinite and I don’t hear one complaint about that.
The “if you don’t like it, don’t use it” argument isn’t a very constructive one. Nor does it solve the problems people have with sprint. Me choosing to not use sprint isn’t viable as my opponents can then reach power weapons/positions faster than I can. It doesn’t fix my issues with the way maps have to be designed around sprint. There were plenty of complaints about sprint back in Reach too. I remember double beatdowns being a huge issue because of sprint.
So rather than telling us to stop complaining or to simply “not use it”, please provide a constructive argument for why sprint’s inclusion is more beneficial than it is detrimental.

You said this 10 hours ago and were quoted by someone as well. Maybe you should respond to that onstead of just changing some words around for this repost?
Anyway. I really dont like the idea. I didnt really like the way sprint had to be chosen in Reach dispite it being one of my favorite games. I would much rather it be the same as Halo 5 or just not in the game.

There were A LOT of complaints about Reach’s sprint feature. Its not as simple as “dont use it” in Halo 5. You are required to use it to stay competitive. Im more pro sprint than against it but even i can acknowledge that. No reason to be rude.

But then how is it different then Reach? Problem is that 343i decided to take the game in a different direction which most people don’t like. Sprint gives us new abilities that we didn’t have in previous games.

So now complaining is ok because people don’t like something. That doesn’t get blocked. I say it’s part of the game so either use it or don’t and stop complaining and I get blocked by a monitor. Which is sad cause several other people said just that yet their posts are still up and not hidden. So now I have to justify myself on something that’s a fact? Well thats pathetic but fine.
Like I said earlier, they took the game in a different direction. They gave us new things to try out. Such as sprint. But with that comes Spartan charge, slide, and a boot factor. Also given the hover ability and ground pounds which allow us to do new things in MP and campaign. So u get rid of sprint u would get rid of all those abilities. Then you essenially have them trying to make a new game but nothing really new in it except no split screen and having locke as the main character. So ya there’s a lot of things wrong with halo 5. I can complain about it or accept it. Play it or not play it. Or better yet, I play the parts I enjoy. I use the Spartan abilities including sprint. I like having more options then just going at a constant pace and jumping.

Not trying to be rude. Just stating it’s a game. No game is ever going to be perfect to everyone. Im pro sprint because it opens the door for the abilities. The only ability it isnt directly tired to is climbing. So should all that be removed so sprint can be gone? Then you will have others complaining the can’t use the boot to dodge or run and slide. Not a fan of the slide nor am I fan of the rec system but i dont get on and say it should be removed because it would change the game entirely. People dont look at the game as a whole. That’s what frustrates me. Which is why I say use it or don’t, play or don’t play. 343i won’t change something that dramatic cause it would even change the campaign. Hell u can’t even beat the first level without sprinting. Yes u have to use it to stay competitive, which has it’ plusses and minuses. The game isn’t for everyone. I accept that and I deal with what has been given to me in game. I think people want everything perfect now with games. Won’t happen. Not all that long ago on systems what you bought is what you got. No updates or anything. So we are lucky to even get updates and new content to games to keep us interested for as long as possible.

No, the abilities tied to sprint are only so because they were made to be tied to sprint. Both abilities could easily have been implemented without sprint being required.
And no, getting rid of sprint would only get rid of Slide and Charge, if they were also dropped with sprint, but as I said, they could have been in without sprint.
Then the second thing, if sprint wouldn’t be implemented, why wouldn’t something else be tested instead? I imagine some resources goes into making sprint work, freeing that up, something else could be implemented, tested and refined.
Third, “Complaining” about things is actually good if you’re doing it right, as the developers can then adjust things in your favour if they so choose. Why do you think sprint has seen the changes it has had since Halo 4? Why do you think Halo 5 isn’t more of Halo 4?

I see your point. Not saying anyone is wrong or right. But they have to keep coming up with stuff new to keep the new games fresh while keeping it inline with previous games. It’s good people say things need to change within different aspects of the game. It does help developers focus on specific things. But, by not adding new things to the game then you essentially keep remaking the same game. And the complaining is directed to those who are just saying remove it without giving valid reasons

Don’t act like you’re not being a jerk in your reply. I hope 343 looks at this one guys opinion as a sample size. im not alone in how i feel about sprint. and if you hate sprint. just go play halo 3. problem solved huh

I’m being direct, not aggressive. The only reason I even said that is because you said it first and didn’t respond to anyone telling you otherwise. Don’t pretend you’re taking the high road here.
You’re fond of telling people to play an older game to satisfy their wishes of no Sprint, but you seem to be unwilling to do the same, especially considering your preferred games are more recent and more technologically advanced. You’re pretty much just telling people to play the game the way you want to play, screw everyone else.
One person is not a strong sample size. You’re not even using other people because you don’t speak for other people. You speak for yourself, considering “no sprint no buy” only refers to you, not everyone.
If I could travel back to the summer of 2016, a lot of things would be done differently with this thread. The fact is that comments like yours never did contribute anything positive to this discussion, and you’re absolutely right that they should’ve been edited from the beginning. Blame the naive moderator for not realizing that so many people could be self-absorbed enough to not realize that if somebody complains about something, they probably have a reason for it.
This thread is all about discussing sprint. If you’re not interested in justifying your opinion, you’re not obliged to comment on this thread. If you’re worried that not commenting will mean that your opinion won’t be represented, it doesn’t take much effort to write “I like sprint because… and therefore I hope it stays”. If you’re already ready to write a paragraph, there sure are better uses for it than dismissing other people’s opinions.

Before giving me a long drawn out description that I haven’t justified my reasons on here plz go back and read my other posts above. I have justified them. The post u quoted was in response to someone elses.

But Sprint isn’t really a new concept or even new to Halo at this point. We’ve had Sprint for over 7 years, which is nearly half the entire lifespan of the series.
The only two abilities tied to Sprint is sliding and Spartan Charge, sliding being used as an animation to crouch, and charge exists because Sprint was too powerful with standard melees, and needed a limitation. Turn off Sprint in a custom game, and you can find you can still Thrust, Ground Pound, and Clamber.
New things are always welcome, but those things have to be beneficial to the series in one way or another. It’s not like CE-3 are the exact same games.

> For the next Halo game, I think there should be sprint. BUT, I want sprint to be like it was from Halo Reach. Also, speed boost is completely unnecessary for this game. I know other games are using this method, but no one wants to play two games that act the same! Bring back the classic feel that we all know and love about Halo. I’m giving faith a future Halo game.
Here is the thing Nick. The “classic” Halo feel involves the game not having sprint. Halo grew to such worldwide success with Halo 3 being the pinnacle by building off the original Halo formula.

Ok. Then I was wrong about some of the abilities. And for that I apologize. But you don’t to necessarily remove it. Like u said u can turn it off in custom games. And I wasn’ saying sprint is new just new things you can so with with it.

I know you did, and I really appreciate that you did so. That was just a short remark I wanted to get out there, regardless.
