The sprint discussion thread

but thats the thing we are still keeping sprint, its there its still an option and if you wanted to play with it you could play warzone or custom games. thing is halos 1-3 were fine without sprint in the campaign and the arena aspect. What does sprint bring to those gamemodes that improve on the experience and dont just take away from it?

Sprinting is also in almost all games now and a lack of it would make halo seem like it can’t keep up. A final point, it makes the game more realistic.A spartan trained extensively with years of experience who can’t choose to take a jog when being shot at?!?!?

Overwatch doesn’t have sprint and it’s one of the most popular games on the market. Doom didn’t have sprint and it was praised for its extremely fun, fast paced gameplay. Maybe it’s about time Halo stops worrying about “keeping up” and instead worries about being the best it can be.

didn’t even bother reading it because it is the dumbest topic out there right now. Just because it has sprint doesn’t mean its not Halo. It’s one whole mechanic, that’s it. If you don’t like sprint, don’t sprint. Problem solved.

Personally I think sprint works well in a game like Halo and has been balanced well this time round. People say that its not Halo but Halo has had sprint for 3 game titles now. Its not like its easier for people to run away as you cant activate while you’re getting shot and you can’t recharge shields while sprinting. Spartan Charge can be annoying but a well timed Thrust can completely screw a charging player over.

It also makes sense from a lore point of view. A Spartan’s armour is kitted with all kinds of buffs, including the ability to sprint without exerting too much energy. Not too mention that they are trained from the age of 6 to be as fit as possible. Admittedly Halo 5 is the first Halo that has done sprint right.

Finally I would like to hear why sprint is bad without someone using the words “it’s not Halo”. Because for me sprint works in Halo, and I’ve been playing it since 2002.

Halo 5 Sprint is good and sprinting has been in Halo 2 and 3 in cinematics and has been in the books.

please shut up about sprint

I’ve been playing Halo for over 10 years. Sprint is great and it’s here to stay.

Why is this thread still here?

Overwatch is not popular because of the lack of sprint but because it’s just crazy cartoon fun. Dooms multiplayer is not why the game is popular, in fact all the reviews and a lot of people hate the multiplayer. I used to like CoD several years ago and I stopped playing it when I didn’t like where it was going. If you can’t cope with how Halo has changed then don’t play it anymore.

Because this forum is full of whiny babies.

Not really. Sprint is mostly used to close distances with a mid range enemy, or just move faster. The maps actually feel
too small sometimes if you sprint. You can walk around the map sprint less no problem. It doesn’t give you any real disadvantage except at the start when power weapons spawn. Also the balancing of sprint with flinch and not being able to regen shields makes it fair and not “ruining halo”.

Traditinal walking players can fight against spirnters with no problem. When you get in a firefight no one is sprinting anyways. It’s like it always has been

I didn’t say Overwatch is popular because it doesn’t have sprint. I said it doesn’t have sprint and it’s popular. Turns out, a shooter doesn’t need sprint to be successful and fun. Who woulda thought?

Dooms is popular because of it’s fun, fast paced gameplay (which lacks sprint). Screwing up the MP doesn’t effect that fact.

Thank you everyone, thank you. I right now, am proud to be up here getting my reward for what I’ve done. I know that sounds corny, but bear with me. Today marks a stand point in my career as I get my first Oscar at the 77th oscars awards night. But I’d like to thank everyone around me for getting me to where I am right now. Thank you everyone, thank you.

I like what sprint has done to halo and it makes sense that a spartan would be able to sprint.

If you want to go and tell me how much of a “retard” I am, then go to page 61, not the comment I was joking around on.

When infection was released and when there was the hog wild update with evreryone saying that it was dissapointing

My god I wish Halo would drop sprint.

I hate how it separates movement and combat.

I played some MCC the other day and was playing some H2 midship. I was in the middle of an intense battle all over carbine side where I was jumping and climbing all over it while shooting at people and I thought about how static the gameplay was on carbine side of Truth in H5. It’s sad because sprint is the reason for this. Truth is just so big and segregated all in an effort to scale it for sprint.
