Aim assist is currently at lowest level it has ever been for a halo game. Go look at halo 4 if you want to see what overkill aim assist looks like. Please fully understand the topic before perpetuating more false data.

I can understand what you’re saying. And in truth, without it defensive players would have to learn new ways to defeat offensive players. I respect that. I think for newer people having the extra options can be nice though. I also have to wonder of 343 is trying to lure some if the CoD and Battlefield players with the sprint ability.

For closing distance, scaling does make sense against a fortified position, and you’re right, it won’t help there. However I’m thinking on a scenario where you’re closing distance around corners. There’s been more than once where the explosive sprint movement around a corner has caught my opponent off guard and allowed me to get the first hit in, thus allowing me to get a kill.

As for advanced tactics, there’s not a whole lot. I play pretty instinctively and intentionally try to unbalance my opponents. That could be considered advanced I suppose, but I wouldn’t classify it as such.

I also cannot say how many times I have seen sprint escape attempts fail. More often than not I am easily able to gun down an opponent who tries to sprint away. I also tend to use my BR, DMR, and Magnum a lot, so range isn’t really a factor. Perhaps weapon choice could play in?

Halo 4 felt like an aimbot honestly. I played it again here recently and I had my reticle lock on players to the point where it would track without thumbstock movement. I was appalled.

To be fair, I haven’t seen either of you providing any data to back up your claims. And for that matter, there are a whole lot of anecdotal opinions on the amount of aim assist in different Halo games, but no quantifying data beyond Halo 3 that I know of.

I wasn’t talking about the kill times but the claims you both made about aim assist which none of these videos say anything about. Of course I know that the minimum kill times of weapons are completely trivial to measure.

not sure that there is any data on Aim assist or bullet magnetism. In the sprint they show a little bit of the AA but no details.

As far as bullet magnetism goes, there are a bunch of tests found on YouTube, but they don’t give very precise information. As far as aim assist goes, there’s this, but it’s obviously only of historical interest at this point. So, yeah, that was kind of the point. I know that there’s nothing out there, so I make these posts to keep people honest with themselves, and secretly hoping that someone could bring something new to my attention.

Maps are stretched out, are more vertical, and the cover is spread out. The weapons are much easier to use and have lower TTKs. So when you are getting out played by someone with an easy to use gun with a low TTK that has been designed around Sprint and enhanced movement and are on maps that have been stretched out it is a frustrating experience. And when you have players moving around the map at different speeds it affects map flow.

This takes away what made Halo unique. Being simple. And coming around a corner with your gun down to get killed by someone with an AR is also a frustrating experience and it yes downgrades the gameplay experience. There is nothing fun about getting killed by an AR and not being able to do much because you have to sprint In order to get around the map properly. Engagements are more fun when there isn’t Sprint and players move around with their gun up at all times. This also affects the golden triangle. 3 things of Halo shoot, melee, grenade.

Which is nice otherwise we’d end up with Halo being like Cod; basically every game iteration playing the same, and feeling the same in terms of gameplay. This keeps it fresher and less repetitive. It also forces the hardcore players (like us) to evolve our playstyles a little. I personally think the positives outweigh the negatives. At first i didn’t like sprint, but that’s mostly because I didn’t know how to use it, or counter it. Once I got the hang of it, it wasn’t so bad.
>
> I think the main struggle people have with sprint (or other abilities for that matter) is play style conflict. I remember this topic being an issue with Halo Reach.

My 5 reasons out weigh your 2 weak reasons. You didn’t even counter them
You don’t change the gameplay you innovate outside of the gameplay that’s why CoD is still going strong

The guns in Halo 2 and 3 are more difficult to use and have higher kill times.
The guns in Halo 5 are way easier to use and you die much faster. You’re fighting on stretched maps with easy to use guns/lower TTK when you combine the two you die a lot faster. The guns function very different and engagements are noticeably shorter. Fact

If you really look at it h5s ttk is comparable to h2s. I’d even go as far and say h5s pricision weapons are more skill based compared to h2s, especially when comparing the h2 br (which had magnetism galore) to the h5 br or magnum.the ttk to me really isn’t h5s issues, it’s just the unnecessary abilities changing map design and messing with the weapons ease of use due to the need to compensate for the faster movement. H3 had the issue of bad netcoding being why it was hard to aim, I’d really use CE as a fitting comparison of aiming difficulty even with CE reigning as the fastest ttk game.

The weapons are all pretty easy to use apart from the magnum and light rifle. What I’m saying is that you die much faster in engagements in Halo 5 than Halo 2 and 3. The weapons have been designed with enhanced mobility in mind.

Completely false even on lan or splitscreen it’s way harder due to the fact it’s the only halo with a projectile br.

What exactly is false? You may be correct on the LAN BR, but you seem to not understand majority of the players never played it that way, they played on a variation with a broken net code which gave h3 that hard to aim BR.

Chill fam. :joy:

All this is opinion based, I don’t need to “counter” your reasons. You aren’t going to change my mind any more than I’m going to change yours, and thats ok. I would like to keep our discourse civil.

I would also disagree with CoD going strong. I’ve read that Infinite Warfare amd the last couple have had lower sales than both Halo and particularly Battlefield because CoD lacks any type of variation. Sure they add some new weapons, or perhaps some new equipment, but in essence it seems that its just a new label for something that was already in the game.

Black Ops 3 didn’t seem to hold to that; there was an explosion of new gameplay.

It was still harder anyway and you would get many many games that were perfectly fine, it had problems sometimes but most of the time the game worked fine. You were trying to say that’s why halo 3 had the hardest br. That’s not true it’s still the hardest to master on lan as well. Halo 3 is the greatest online game of all time in my eyes, halo 5 is pretty trash, unlike some I know have changed my mind and don’t think it would be good as a separate IP with the same mechanics it’s just poor. If you wanted to play a game with movement gimmicks titanfall and it’s sequel are miles better than this. It’s no wonder the game has like 20k players. If you read this 343 please stop making games you like and make the game the 400 and odd thousand fans who have ditched halo and this console want. Not the game you think appeals to cod players they still prefer cod how obvious can it be.

Cod outsold halo massively it’s multiplatform, it’s still number one fps on xbox, black ops 3 is still usually ahead of it, but they have split the player Base witj modern warfare remastered. They have 3 cods above halo 5. You have totally made this nonsense up. Halo 5 sold average for the size of the brand, the problem is no one plays it now bo3 is still making the top 3 or 4 regularly and when MWR gets a standalone release that will climb into the top 6 most likely. Halo is dying and we must force change now.before it’s too late.

I’ve read that Infinite Warfare amd the last couple have had lower sales than both Halo and particularly Battlefield because CoD lacks any type of variation. Sure they add some new weapons, or perhaps some new equipment, but in essence it seems that its just a new label for something that was already in the game.

That i agree with

Maps are stretched out, are more vertical, and the cover is spread out. The weapons are much easier to use and have lower TTKs. So when you are getting out played by someone with an easy to use gun with a low TTK that has been designed around Sprint and enhanced movement and are on maps that have been stretched out it is a frustrating experience. And when you have players moving around the map at different speeds it affects map flow.

People can just Sprint out of no where and get easy kills because they are bad at positioning. In real Halo games you had to position yourself and move around the map carefully, one bad move and you can die. Getting outplayed by someone isn’t frustrating. Getting outplayed by someone because they can run up to you out of no wh

Just what I’ve read, I didn’t fact check it and it very well could be wrong. However with Halo dying, I’m not sure removing sprint would help with giving it a new life. It may be a good removal in addition to something else, but to revitialize a dying game, it’ll take more than a change to one feature.
