You’re not. We already have had the ability to buy ten packs of Nornfang and SPNKR Prime, which are two of the best weapons in the game.

Reach’s sprint was the most overpowered. H5 at least has the most balanced version of sprint.

Nah, I understand where you are coming from and your opinion is “your opinion”. I just lol’d at your comment because of this huge debate and argument everyone has been having about sprint on this thread and when you said that, it just made me laugh because I feel like you completely dodged everything and everyone. Then Halo 4 and Halo 5’s sales came in my head when you said “343 Halo games unique” which made me laugh a little more. But like I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

By unique I meant it’s something that 343 did and not Bungie (Once again aside from Reach) and yeah, I don’t tend to write long comments

It’s not an equipment capability issue as to whether or not the controller can make this happen- rather it’s a player issue as to whether or not it would even be practical for game play purposes. Halo CE, 2, and 3 didn’t measure close to such speeds for walking because it’s like increasing the sensitivity- For instance, any player could max out their sensitivity to 10 and be capable of the quickest possible reflexes that the aiming analog stick has to offer. But it’s simply not practical just because it’s possible because it’s too hard to control for most players.
>
> Just like BMS could be adjusted in those earlier Halo titles… But Bungie wouldn’t have tried to make the player control both walking and sprinting with the same stick under one BMS even though it was possible. Same issues would resurface if 343i tried to make one stick capable of giving the player the wider range to both walk and even sprint with one BMS using that same stick.
>
> Also it’s not like walking and sprinting measure up that closely over larger distances. That ~2 second variation between walking and sprinting came from a distance of roughly 10-15 meters or so. As the distance increases, so does the deviation between walking and sprinting. For instance, at ~20 meters it becomes ~4 second difference, than ~6 second difference at ~30 meters and so on and so forth. Point is that the deviation becomes a significant problem; particularly in midsized to larger maps.
No, bits and bytes never were an issue, and yes player “precision” is if you want a precise speed, to some degree.
It was merely an illustration of the speed increment ranges players have at their disposal with one BMS. Coming down to the conclusion that Sprint does not enable variating speeds at the player’s choice, because it has always been there.
The Evolved settings for Halo 5 have an increased movement speed, to that of sprint if I’m not wrong. I have yet to see a complaint that it is too high to properly be able to control with precision if that ever was necessary in the same measurement as aiming.
You’ve already mentioned MLG increased Halo 3’s BMS to 110%, that wasn’t an issue for players either.
Disregarding map flow issues, players have said, albeit anecdotal, to have no issues when playing and getting used to speed increases such as 150%, hitting the target became more difficult though. Movement precision is very rarely needed to be in the same leagues as aiming precision.
Which is exactly the same as if I do not push the analog stick to the bottom.

Player preference and it’s good to see you found your niche in Halo 5… But you still do push that analog stick to the bottom a lot, don’t you? How many players would want that? To have to control that wide of a movement range all within that one analog stick? I know I wouldn’t- I want to be consistent in my movement because I always push the analog stick all the way when I walk. Increasing the range of the movement speed along that exact same analog stick which has always been used for walking purposes isn’t something that I enjoy doing one bit- I’ve tweaked the BMS settings in older games before… You move faster as the Juggernaut which was a game type on XBL all the way back as far as Halo 2. And flying around uncontrollably at 125-150% of the default BMS wasn’t fun, natural, or feasibly controllable from what I experienced. I hated the Juggernaut mode for that reason and it wouldn’t be any different if Halo 6 tried to do the same thing with one BMS.

Evolved does indeed have that. I think it’s 125% movement speed, 130% strafe accel. Everyone who plays says the movement speed is perfect and all that. Our complaints only come from a lack of air control involved with jumping, but that’s an entirely different topic.

Okay, super big question. How is operating at 125% movement speeds in older Halos unnatural, unfeasable or uncontrollable, when that’s the exact same movement speed sprint’s at (Bar H5’s nerf), and most older Halos were at by default, again, bar FoV issues, and relative to maps.

I personally haven’t touched Halo 5 in quite a while. Curious friend tested a few modes.
Halo CE to Halo 3 all have the same BMS. CE is regarded as floaty in its movement by many, yet not the others, not to the same degree. Why? Because there are a number of things that go into how controllable / uncontrollable your avatar is. 2’s acceleration I’ve understood is not the same as 3’s. There’s de-acceleration, controller response and so forth. A Halo 6 with no sprint and a BMS equal to that of a current 125% would most likely not feel, or controll, like Halo 2’s 125%, because all the originals have the same BMS but they still feel and behave differently.
Does anyone who have played the Evolved setting think its movement is in terms of feeling and behaviour uncontrollable or like that of any Original Halo game at the same speeds?

>
I’m not actually suggesting that 125%-150% of BMS is not controllable. I’m suggesting that controlling one BMS from 0-150% of the default BMS for walking in Halo is what’s uncontrollable. That’s why it’s so much better and more consistent for gameplay purposes to walk at a normal pace of 0-100% of BMS using that handy, dandy analog stick… And only pressing that sweet sprint button to go faster when it’s actually needed; depending on the situation.

Heck yeah, let’s keep sprint! WOOH! Why else do you wanna keep it though?
Also @FightingChances I’ll have to try that sometime; although to be fair I really didn’t like Reach all that much from a MP perspective. I mean, I loved Campaign (but let’s face it after you play through it once you know how it ends and then what’s the point of going back to die again?)- And I really liked Invasion for a time but Reach’s MP just got old to me. The best part about Reach’s MP was sprint- otherwise I hated most of the other AA’s. I also loved the Armory (featuring the sweet optional robotic arm), Playable (Customizable) Elites, and Commendations; so there was a lot to like about Reach too. But ultimately I just don’t like playing the game itself over and over- When Halo 4 came out with permanent sprint I was like “Oh thank god, see you never Reach…” But I’d rather play Halo 5 above all else because sprint is so much more balanced and finely tuned; and those AA’s aren’t just silly pick-ups laying around the map… You’ve got to earn REQ points to actually call them in and use them.

However, sprint is far more dependant on situation than BMS ever will be, due to the restrictions it has.
There were scenarios, not many but they existed, where you’d opt for sub-optimal speed with only BMS, but they were far less than with sprint present.
Given the choice in the same game, in the same match.
125% BMS
0-100 and then 125% sprint.
Who’d go for the latter?

I would… But honestly I would rather have a “dead sprint,” closer to 135-140% as a sprint speed than the 125% “jog,” anyway.

Because I don’t have a problem with it. WOOH! Honestly, the only reason I commented was to get closer to ranking up in the forums. This thread has been going on for far too long and no one is changing minds around here. Lol I like sprint. I don’t see why so many have a problem with it but that’s not for me to understand. They have their reasons and that’s great. If anything I’d like sprint to be faster.

You’d be sprinting around the map, weapons down while other players went for 125% BMS and full combat capabilities?
You’d be enganging other players who have better strafing capabilities and who can actually chase you if you try to sprint away, dealing damage and so forth?
Okay, I wouldn’t restrict myself with sprint if I had the option to have sprint speed and none of the downsides. That’s just me though.
Sure, and I think I know why sprint isn’t that high over BMS.
If that’s not just a general thing and instead aimed at the options: Whatever your Sprint speed is, it is the other’s BMS.
I personally think sprint works given the fact that if you take damage you must walk or hide to recharge, it’s a magnificent balance! I feel sprint is a must! I enjoy it far to much to go back to how things used to be!
