Placebo.

But that doesnt mean Halo needs sprint to be fast

Halo CE and Halo 2 definately arent to slow, but Halo 3 and Reach (w/o sprint) then yeah, a little slow.
but having a faster base movespeed than even Halo CE would be cool.

What you’re feeling is the fact that you’ve been used to fast movement for so long, and then you go back and play something slower paced… it’s like someone is dragging a weight behind you. You don’t like it because you’re not used to it. It’s like coming off drugs.

Once you get used to multiplayer at that pace though, you start to really enjoy it, and then you’ll go back to playing Halo 5 with sprint and you’re like “What the -yoink- is this -yoink-.” basically…

Thus like Exuberant Umbra said, A placebo.

I don’t even think Halo 3 and Reach were slow due to BMS in relation to their maps. I just feel like terrible weapon balancing (Ahem H3 BR), the lack of bleedthrough in the case of Reach, and constricting as grunts FoVs made the games play and feel a lot slower.

I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!
> > Thoughts? :3

I have to disagree. Sprint is something that has a place in the newer halo games. I do not see how removing sprit would improve the game. Especially when the new gameplay features need sprint in order to work. Its not halo 2, its halo 6.

In what way does sprint have a place in the newer Halos? Didn’t AAs, dual wielding, custom loadouts etc have a place in the newer Halos? What makes sprint special in that case?

More consistent flow? Not having a button mapped for it on the controller making it slightly less crowded? Removing balancing mechanic (shield recharge nullify)? Less overall reliance on sprint to disengage an encounter and more focus on other escape tactics. Sounds better to me atleast.

Spartan Charge and Slide? Both could exist without sprint, easy.

Is there a rule to implement certain features when a specific numerical milestone has been passed? As it is Halo 6, what is next on the list of features to implement that we haven’t experienced in Halo?

Doom Is clearly a much faster, much smoother game than Halo 5. Doom may be slightly too high for base movement. But Doom rivals Halo 5’s sprint speed.

I personally can play Halo 3’s slow MP all day long, but I played the Doom beta, and it was fantastic. I didn’t get it because like you I had too many games to get, and none of my friends seemed to be interested (because Doom is not a big name for it’s MP on consoles) and there’s no campaign co-op.

If I had a Halo game that used Doom’s movement. I’d even forgive clamber and assassinations. (Continues to pray for Halo: Arena)

Funny note: in the Halo 5 gameplay clip I posted, notice how at 40 seconds in, the player avoids the clamber point and heads to the grav lift?. The way it’s set up is unnatural. It doesn’t make getting to the top of the base and easier, faster or safer. It’s actually the opposite. The player has further to jump, has to look for the grab point, and might get caught climbing. Compared to the grav lift which was fast and easy.

I vote for sprint to stay.

Why is sprinting a problem? I don’t get it

Can you elaborate on why that is ?

Its why CTF games go by like lightning with Sprint

Why is sprinting isn’t a problem to you? I don’t get it.

Why not utilize map environments, making shortcuts or alternate way to move (like man-canon and teleporter)? You people say like sprint is only movement available for moving…

But the game already has sprint…

Besides, your telling me these Spartans, who have like jets and augments and are like 8 feet tall, aren’t supposed to be able to run? I also think the shield recharge not starting while sprinting is more than enough “deterrent”

Are you telling me these spartans who have augmemtations to make them almost superhuman, that have all this hi tech state of the art weaponry and armor aren’t supposed to be able to run and shoot a gun at the same time ?

Maybe the campaign doesn’t need sprint but the multiplayer has become very fast paced. The sprint is what keeps that pace going fast the way it should be. It is very useful for Warzone that is scaled to fit the sprint feature.

Yeah they should add sprint to Doom and Overwatch as well, they arent fast paced at all.

The only fast paced thing about overwatch is tracer.
