> COD doesn’t feel clunky though because it’s kill times fit with sprint. In COD you’re sprinting most of the time and only stopping for fractions of seconds to shoot. In Halo, because the kill times are long you’re dropping out of sprint to what feels like an incredibly slow speed a lot. In fact, the majority of the gameplay takes place in this slower speed.

Another reason COD’s movement doesn’t feel clunky is because Z axis movement was strictly controlled. There was a lot of negative noise around advanced warfare and infinity warfare due to the inclusion of extra Z movement mechanics.

The Hype for COD4 remaster is bigger than the newer game…sometimes it pays to stick to your roots when it comes core mechanics/feel.

i can’t agree with that sprint comment

I think the issue is that Dooms MP isn’t faithful to what Doom fans wanted. It tried to be like other shooters in certain aspects, but those things go better with other shooters. Dooms MP suffered the same problem as Halo 4.

This is what I had wanted to talk about. Are you saying that if someone sprints into a room that you’re in, you will habe the advantage? Like if Spartan charge wasn’t in the game. That is what you’re saying, correct?

Or blindly sprinting around a corner, surely the advantage would be to the guy slow playing it maybe crouched gun up in anticipation, wouldnt it ?

That is correct. IF I’m in say around a corner, dude sprints in I am going to be able to shoot first and vice versa. It makes it more of a thinking game. Again excluding spartan charge which has ruined this aspect for a lot of engagements.

and Halo 5 as well, since release though Id software has taken the reigns of the MP that CA created and are making improvements, wouldn’t even be surprised to see loadouts removed as those are basically the Sprint of the Doom community right now, it says alot about id how they were making Doom into another Sprint-ads military shooter then scrapped the whole project in favour of something more true to the franchises roots and ended up with massive success, and the only failed part of the game was made by the H4 guys who again borrowed ideas from other shooters, 343 could learn a thing or two

Shouldn’t it be more of a shooting game that just puts an emphasis on thinking? Why is the opponent giving you an advantage based more on chance better than you gaining an advantage yourself based on your own actions in the fight?

See, I’m failing to see how sprint tests this skill. There were times in the original trilogy where someone would walk around the corner, not knowing I was there and get killef by me. I feel like when you sprint around a corner in H5 and get killed, you often think that you shouldn’t have been sprinting, but you would have died even if you were walking.

If we’re talking 2 separate movement speeds as options, wouldn’t BMS and crouch movement speed meet this need. In this reverse sense, the choosing a different/slower movement speed gives you a tactical advantage in only certain situations. You’re not meant to crouch around the whole map - you can, but it’s not the ideal way of doing something.

I see where you’re saying people sprinting gives you a tactical advantage, but sprinting isn’t really a tactical decision - It’s semi required on most maps to traverse areas effectively and productively.

You’re really only gaining an advantage by going against the “meta” of how the game is played. Once sprint stops being the meta (Which I actually see happening from time to time during my gameplay) All we’re left with is huge maps that aren’t meant for a non-sprint environment.

Just thought I’d add my two cents. REMOVE IT.

It all depends on what type of game you want. If they are sprinting into a room, knowing that it delays their reaction to shoot and they sprint in anyway, that is not chance. That is simply playing without thinking. So it punishes the thoughtless aggressive (typical teenager) while rewards the strategic thinking player. I don’t have the reflexes of a 18 year old. But I can outsmart an 18 year old often. So it can give me an advantage. I have stated many times and being honest about why I like sprint. I like the advantages as well as the immersion effect. Its just my preference. Its also why I don’t like COD:BO3 because it has a perk where you can run non stop and continue to shoot. Hence I don’t play it.

This ‘thinking game’ is actually a game of happenstance. The opponent just happened to be sprinting. In Halo games without sprint you had to predict where an opponent might be, and plan accordingly. Older Halo games are more involved thinking games because IF you make a MISTAKE you are punished. Running around wildly gets you destroyed. While H5 its similar, sprint allows players to survive MORE mistakes than previous classic style Halo games.

Mantener sprint le va bien al juego en todo aspecto

Yup I’ve actually pointed this out… The anti sprinters just chose to avoid responding to it at the time. I’ve played with some of these avid anti-sprinters as well and not once did they ever even mentioned sprint… And they used it all the time, so for them to come here and try to over inflate this issue now isn’t justified from what I’ve seen from them on Halo 5.

Sorry, But sprinting into an area without thought is not happenstance. Its a conscious thought by the player, a very poor strategy at times. which punishes them. But can also reward players if the enemy they are trying to engage is not paying attention then the sprinter has the advantage. Both the attacker and enemy require thinking to win the engagement. Removing sprint, removes that aspect of thinking. Although there is still a strategy when sprint is removed it has one less variable to the fight. As I have stated many times, people are either against it or for it based on how it affects their own personal gameplay. The more variables the harder it becomes. Its why some people like small team MP instead of Big Team in any game regardless of whether or not its Halo, Battlefield or whatever. Some people will not play big teams like BF has 32 vs 32. Some people will not play it because its too many variables to account for it puts them at a disadvantage. Having an additional variable such as sprint puts some players at a disadvantage because of the same simple reason. I hate spartan charge for the same reason, its an additional variable that I have to consider, one which I don’t want to have to think about. Sprint is enough variables, where spartan charge is too many, for me. But thats just me.

Now, carry on with the discussion.

Seriously? It’s been talking about several times in this thread. Maps in this game are designed around sprint. Not sprinting puts you at a disadvantage most of the time. Why would one purposely put themselves at a disadvantage by not doing something.

The purpose of this thread is to discuss how removing sprint would make for a better game. Anti-sprinters aren’t asking for advice about how we can enjoy halo with sprint. We’re actually looking for intelligent arguments about how sprint makes the game better…Aside from a couple people I’ve debated with, there aren’t many arguments that support the pro-sprint mindset.

Sprint and ads need to go
