Alright, I’m out. Time to take another 300 page break from this thread and see whats new. It seems more and more that people will actively look for a reason to dislike the game, rather than focus on what they think it does well. I could do the same with probably all the games I have, but I choose not to. I cant understand how one mechanic can somehow ruin an entire universe worth of stories and ideas and fun, but if thats how you feel, I cant argue against it. See you once we pass 10,000 posts!

Take Halo 1, 2, 3. undoubtably the best story in any video game ever Period. Level design had alot to do with this. I can remember every level from the classic halos. (Not by name) but i can remember what they look like. because i was taking in all of the sights and architecture. I did not have to sprint in halo 4 and 5 but the levels were so similar due to the fact that there was sprint in mind while they were developing the game.

Maybe if you didn’t miss out on 300 pages of dialogue, then you would understand why sprint is unhealthy for Halo. Halo 5’s gameplay, though interesting, isn’t very fun for me. Apparently, it isn’t very fun for a lot of other people, too. We want this to change. There must be a compromise.

I don’t think most of us really had to “look” for a reason to dislike the game. 343 kind of just started waving it’s problems in our faces. Or at least they must’ve been doing that because most of the problems are so glaringly obvious.

I remember stumbling around, gazing at pillars, following them up to the ceiling. The bridgeroom on Halo, and the following canyon, is something that I’ll never forget. It was so big, and open, unlike anything that I had ever played before.

Eh, still debatable. For an FPS, then yeah, I’ll give that to you.

I wouldn’t go so far as to say the best story in any video game ever, but different people have different tastes.
The trilogy was pretty good, all things considered.

But why.
I think this is the most pointless argument ever… adding sprint changed nothing about the game. It was annoying in reach because your shields could come back, but they can’t now so I think it’s pretty balanced.

Great, so you won’t mind if it’s removed?

If an opponent is trying to get away, one of their options is to sprint. So their shields don’t recharge. And it doesn’t really do anything, so might as well keep it. Theres more things to worry about like overpowered AI and spawn locations.

Nah I won’t really mind, but I think removing it is pointless. Honestly, when I go back and play the older campaigns I do try to sprint by habit, and I kinda wish I could. Being able to run is kind of expected in FPS these days and it takes nothing away from the game. There are more important issues to address before Halo 6.

Skill jumps are such a small part of the game (sorry), and they can still exist if the maps were a bit better designed.

So, it changes nothing, but you think it would be pointless to remove it? Seems kind of backwards. Why should developer time and resources be spent on something that you say has absolutely no effect on the game? That time and resources could be better spent on improving the rest of the game.

If it’s unnecessary, then why keep it?

Don’t bring Firefight into this. Scout Warthog > everything, yo.

Right. It was a quality of life change that didn’t change anything about the actual game. Simply lets the player get where he wants to get to faster. I don’t see the problem or why you would want to take that away.
