Rather, I’m very curious about the design choices and plans for h2 and would like to know more. but I’m not going to bother the guy. You think the art director is going to have intimate knowledge of the design of sprint so many years later? Memories fail. Art directors direct art. i could tweet him, but to what end? to find out he vaguely remembers that it was a problem with pacing and he didnt have to work on the animations any longer? Had there been more information you’d think we’d have heard about it already… you know, since someone already contacted the guy regarding the animations and posted a video on youtube about it and all we got was “pacing issues”
>
> Based on the available information its unlikely we can get anything more definitive than “pacing issues”
In denial of what the reason was for sprint getting cut. If you’re gonna suggest he meant something else, then prove it. You’re just making excuses in case you’re wrong. If you won’t back up what you believe, then there’s nothing more to discuss on that video.

For an FPS, gameplay is more important. Whoa, who would’ve thought that’s the genre I was talking about?

I know the question wasn’t directed at me specifically, but…
Do I believe it? Yes.
Can I guarantee it? No.
But if the last few games have proven anything, then it is that not going back to classic Halo gameplay won’t bring back the masses.
So at this point, the logical thing to do is try and find out.

Exactly. 343i’s “vision” of Halo has failed on most accounts. It’s time that they accept that and go back to what made Halo a great and special game. I feel like I say this a lot, but it still need to be said. The classic Halo formula never died. Halo only died after Bungie and 343i started to mess with it.
I am not buying the next Halo game because I already know they are not removing sprint. Halo 5 is far superior to Halo 4, but it still isn’t Halo. Halo has dumbed down the aiming skill required to get kills because of sprint, but nobody cares. With massive autoaim this game is way too easy and has become more connection dependent than an Infinity Ward COD. The lag in this game is terrible because of their awful matchmaking system. 343i aren’t interested in making a functional game with skill let alone a Halo game. Halo 5 is a good casual game and that’s it. Nothing in it takes more skill than COD. It’s just a hipster game at this point for people to think they are good at a competitive shooter when there’s nothing competitive about it. I may get Halo 6 for free because my friends tend to buy me games and DLC that I don’t want to buy myself, but I am not putting in my own money towards the next title.

I suppose, but i just have a hard time believing the slower style of game play will just bring back the masses of individuals who either have adopted the new gameplay style or moved on.
Besides, the game play IMO inst really the problem here, its the story direction and lack of variety at launch that i think has people more up in arms.

false,
MCC still has a booming population because of how bad H5 is
Lets use CounterStrike for example, arguably one of the more successful games of all time and it has been virtually unchanged at its core for 10 years

Halo 4 had a pretty great story and tons of different modes at launch, yet still lost 50% of its players after ten days(!) and a total 95% within its first year.
Bad story and lack of modes are just additional issues that H5G has compared to its predecessor. They are not the sole reason for the drop.
I don’t know if sprint (or the gameplay in total) is the reason. But as long as 343 refuses to release a classic game, we will never find out.

Then make it not “slow”. Not sure why that doesn’t seem to cross anyones mind.
You also seem to think that everyone that’s moved on hasn’t done so because they don’t like the gameplay anymore. Switching it back to the classic style would very likely encourage them to come back and give it another chance.

Halo was a great and special game series because of its unique weapons, long kill times, rechargeable shields and a great story.

…out of which the only one that remains are the rechargable shields.

So the plasma pistol, plasma rifle, needler, energy sword, and gravity hammer are now common place in the fps genre?

It has crossed people’s minds… Not sure why you’d make that assumption. Having the option to sprint or walk is still much better.

All the UNSC weapons have been replaced by ordinary “real life” counterparts. The BR is basically the FAMAS, the rocket launcher ist just a regular SMAW, etc. Those “unique weapons” you are talking about are few and far between.

It’s not like the H2 pistol looked exactly like a regular modern day pistol oh wait it did!

I’ve had that assumption because like that guy I quoted, they think the game would be slow had it transitioned back. Frankly I’m not sure how you could not notice that.
Why is multiple player speeds better for the gameplay than a single fast speed?

Because it increases verisimilitude in an otherwise futuristic science fiction space odessy… In real life you can walk or run, so I’ll take realistic things like that where I can get them in Halo. Also, canon- read any Halo novel with Spartans and they describe them as characters that can run, jump, and sometimes swim.

This is a game not a simulator, so immersion is not a reason. Why does it benefit the gameplay?
