One reason would be because it is a sign of outdated gameplay. And it wouldn’t change the campaign that much, just prolong it a bit, and it makes multiplayer more competitive and unpredictable.

2 of the 3 most played FPS games this year do not use sprint.(Overwatch, CS GO)

Add to that Doom which was a critical campaign darling.

If anything hopelessly clinging to the COD train is what is the sign of being outdated. This isn’t 2012 anymore.

How are the numbers for Halo 5’s active players determined? Why isn’t there a live world-wide population count displayed in-game?

> If you people are trying to say anniversery games will outdo current games, you’re wrong. People want new games. As said already many won’t buy an anniversary simply cuz we’ve already played it. Why waste money on upped graphics? While also chancing 343 changing something about the gameplay? People want a “new” game based off the classics yes, but an anniversary will not outdo a newer halo game regardless if it’s not meeting expectations. Compare Mccs preorders to h4 and h5 and that’ll tell you the anwser on how anniversarys work. H4 and h5 while lacking get higher numbers cuz it’s new. If 343 were to make a h6 based off h3, then there’d be an arguement on it possibly outdoing the newer games, but an anniversary? I just don’t see it.

I wasn’t about to pay $560 just to play Halo 2: Anniversary, and now that I finally have a copy of the MCC, I’m very glad that I decided to wait.

Your just being super pediantric, if you can’t understand the difference between infantry and vehicle combat then that’s on you. But again, the golden traingle says that at any time in infantry you should be able to shoot, melee, or throw grenades, you can shoot while dual wielding, and saying you can melee or shoot while in vehicles only proves the golden traingle to be more true.

Games in the 90s before ce had sprint, try again.

Why does this forum keep popping-up on popular topics? Sprint is staying. Whether people like it or not.

Which Halo did you start with?

Sprint is an unnecessary design choice for Halo: don’t fix what isn’t broken. Simple rules for simple gameplay in which only skill and teamwork determine the winner. Spartan Charging doesn’t take skill. Hopping onto an elevated object, and then blindly jumping at the right time–while firing at a mobile opponent–does. Do you see the difference?

I agree. I don’t have a problem with sprint but a lot of these folks have put all their eggs in one basket and have declared sprint to be the demise of Halo. These are the same people that would complain about a series that never offers anything new and creative with a new release. lol

No idea, I searched, couldn’t find exact figures. It’s all speculation. All I know is I have no trouble finding matches and meeting cool people

Every once in while I sit here casually at work with the screen displayed as I watch responses come in. I saw it. I liked what it had to say. It deserved a like! BAM! lol

> > The reason why sprint was added to halo was to make it more fast paced. Newer generations of gamers (me included) who didn’t grow up with halo are used to fast paced games such as battlefield, cod, and just about every other fps. It’s hard for a slow paced game like the older halos and even the newer ones to attract these gamers so they added sprint. To be honest I like sprint when I don’t have it I feel like a turtle with a gun. Sure you might not like it but your not everyone. 343 also has to appeal to the newer generations as well. Don’t get me wrong I had fun playing halo 3(my first halo and firs Xbox game) but ounce I got to other games like battlefield and even cod I noticed how slow the gameplay actually was.
>
>
> Halo is faster paced without sprint. Just saying. The only time it is not is when people don’t know how to play the game. It is the same thing that happens with COD and BF. People on COD will sit in a place for a long period of time and only have 5-10 gunfights in 10 minutes. People on BF will only have 5-10 gunfights because they don’t spawn in the right locations. In Halo if you have only 5-10 gunfights in 5 minutes you are doing something wrong. Having sprint doesn’t automatically make a game faster. Map design is a key feature in increasing engagements. Halo 5 has some of the slowest maps I have ever played.

THIS GUY GETS IT!

Try jumping onto a slant and ducking, followed by another jump. You’d be surprised by what’s possible.

It doesn’t bother me if there is sprint or no sprint

Of course lowering your weapon in combat is a poor decision. Let’s think in terms of reality for a moment. How often do you think a soldier, cop or even a paintballer SPRINTS down the battlefield pointing down range? I’m talking full sprint. If anything what 343 has done with sprint has made it based in reality. You sacrifice defense for speed when you use it and accept the potential consequences. That’s reality. I concede that some of the maps are quite large depending on the chosen game mode and have created some dead space in the field. Battlefield 3 did the same thing but that doesn’t make it a bad game. Just gives the younger folks something to complain about. lol

Yes it might have been bungie’s design mantra for achieving a goal, but halo was such a diverse game to single out one part and say, “This is what it means to be halo.” is the largest load of crap I’ve seen in a while.

Make no mistake, I’m not a fangirl. Halo’s combat was unique, not like a hodgepodge of modern FPS titles. Like I said, the gameplay of Halo 5 could be really good–in a different title. Try this: play Midship, and then play Truth.

Dual wielding was different, and definitely took away from the simplicity of Halo’s gameplay. I only used dual wielding when it was advantageous, which wasn’t very often. I used grenades followed by BR shots the most, and completely disliked the SMG start in Halo 2. The campaign, is a whole can of worms of its own.

> No matter if you like sprint or not, it is a modern gaming mechanic, and many players refuse to play a game without it. Even if 343i wanted to remove sprint, they wouldn’t, cause it would drive away new players. Really, sprint can be done well and balanced like in H5, and works well with the spartan abilities. (but lets all agree that spartan charging sucks and would be better off out of the game.) Removing sprint may make halo great again for the small minority of old fans who dislike sprint, but the large majority of new and old players either prefer sprint or don’t really care. 343i can’t babysit all the old halo players, and why would they bother, when half of them hate halo no matter what 343i does. so i guess my answer is no.

I don’t dislike sprint. I dislike how sprint has changed how the game is designed.

343i have garnered that ire through their blatant bastardization of “their” Halo’s gameplay.

Counterstrike is doing just fine without sprint.

The last good CoD was MW2, why can’t it just die already? Oh, right, because it’s made for casual gamers.
