The sprint discussion thread

> 2533274949106711;6999:
> i dont think sprint is the problem. sprint is a natural evolution of fps games. having unlimited sprint seems a bit much. but being able to sprint doesnt ruin halo for me. it creates more combinations of strategies. for example, sprinting in swat is a great way to get shot since you cant fire back while sprinting. but if you know when and where to sprint, you can survive a game of swat and quickly traverse the map using sprint. what i believe needs to be removed is spartan charge. it encourages people to do nothing but sprint around the map waiting to come around a corner and smash into someone. either way, spartan charge is a redundant melee and isn’t needed. anyway, I’ve played plenty of halo before sprint was introduced and i don’t think the game has suffered by adding it.

I liked a lot of the large maps on the earlier games, because they were usually well designed. Valhalla, for instance, had multiple vehicles and focused mainly on controlling the hill. Viking is similar, but much larger, and to be brief: to avoid clambering to go from basement ramp to flag, you have to sprint and crouch-jump. This has gotten me killed before, because I couldn’t shoot first. I’m okay with sprint being in the game, but why is it that there are no classic Halo gameplay playlists, or maps? SWAT? The best game of Halo that I ever played was on Ivory Tower in Halo 2. It was FFA SWAT, and I went 25 and 0 by using the game mechanics that were available, and applying them to the map design. Sprint changes the gameplay, and the map design. There are plenty of modern FPS games that don’t have sprint that are doing just fine, and I think that Halo would do great if 343i catered to the core Halo vets as well. After all, they owe their success to their fans.

Spartan Charge? Don’t get me started.

I dont really care

no, actually I have played since Halo CE, and I even play worst in games with new mechanics than on the classic ones, but at least I’m not complaining like an idiot for a stupid thing like sprint (you’re just as the ones who still want a falcon in Halo 5)

I understand you dude.

that I’ve played since Halo CE too, (well except for reach and ODST) and that the adding of sprint in the latest games really doesn’t bother or affect me. That was what I was referring to.

I think that they could do this as an Armor Ability like in Halo: Reach.

Keep it :3 at least the running animation is one of the best I’ve seen

Sprint is here to stay, and if there needs to be a compromise, just make it a limited distance like it was in Halo Reach.

Or, you know, create a classic Halo playlist, with maps designed for that type of gameplay.

Go back to playing halo 1 2 3 and ODST

If the MCC wasn’t such a disaster, then I would. I recently played Halo 3 on the 360 and used bubble shields and grav lifts. It was a lot more straight-forward, and had maps that didn’t require sprint jumps to get around.

Don’t like ppl rank boosting by just saying “Sprint should stay cause I like it” or " Sprint should go cause it ruins the game"? Yeah, this thread has pretty much ran its course.

Keep sprint
