The sprint discussion thread

No. Bugie tried it during H2 development and purposely removed it because it didn’t fit into Halo well. Then they purposefully left it out of H3.

By the time reach rolled around most of the people who made HCE/2/3 MP no longer worked at Bungie. The MP lead designer of Reach didn’t work at Bungie until Reach.

Lol we really jumped on you for that one… Sorry. I hope you don’t take it as a personal attack. Personally, i was still typing by the time the first quote was posted.

I am very tired of this topic. I cannot believe that we still need to explain why sprint is bad for Halo. Did we get any good reason that tells us why sprint is good for Halo? Nope, still getting replies like “Halo needs to evolve” and “I like sprint”.

> Wow well I guess we’re STILL not over this dumb debate. Ok, we get it, halo 1-3 were fine without sprint, but this just simply isn’t 2005. Shooters aren’t played at a jogging pace anymore, they’re finally evolving, changing, and no one can seem to accept that. This is Halo 5 people, and Halo 6 is gonna go even further with movement complexity, not take a step back to 2005. If you don’t like it when games evolve, stick to the old ones, or get used to the next generation.

? No halo game came out in 2005, that’s just you pulling random numbers, and franchises in the 80s had sprint, adding mechanics that hinder gameplay is not evolving by any means. That’s like having a Pc with a Titan X
“evolve” into a basic work pc. Yea it changed, but change does not make it better.

> -Classic Arena: slow-medium pace gameplay without sprint, thrust, or any spartan abilities.

Your mistake is thinking that sprint and abilities make the game faster, that’s been disproved hundreds of times in this thread.

I’m honestly a big fan of sprint. It’s a change that I think should have been made a long time ago.

almost 6500 replys?? Wow  I wonder when was the last time the OP replied…

Probably about 1000 replies ago or something like that. Either way, I don’t care if sprint stays or goes, which makes me think that I’m probably in the 1% of the community

You say it like its fact and that it’s bad for people to have their own opinion. People can’t just like anything anymore , there has to be a science behind why you like something or it’s meaningless.

Whether we keep or discard sprint, I don’t give a -Yoink-. But people need to start developing an open mind

I don’t think we heard any good reasons why it was bad either. Even if we did get any for or against it’s all a matter of opinion. OPINION: I hate Call of Duty because every year it’s a copy and paste of itself with a new skin. FACT: Grass is green and water is wet. See? Don’t like sprint? Don’t use it. If you are that upset then go play Super Mario Bros. Problem solved.

Plenty of explanations were given as to why pro-sprint arguments were basically made of of misconceptions and/ or misunderstandings.

That’s in addition to explanations of why gameplay would be faster paced without sprint.

Sprint’s in the game, but what does it add to the game that can’t be accomplished in another way without any of the potential downsides?

It’s in the game. “Just because” isn’t enough to add anything to the game. Why does it benefit the gameplay?

The benefit is that it’s fun for people

Just don’t sprint, it’s like eating a piece of cake. Sprint is not a problem. Lots of us wanted this anyways. Would be a shame if they would take it off.

Why?

for my Sprint donot would be removed if no longer would make sense so you better leave it and agan coolest Halo 6

Can’t believe we have 338 pages of the same echoes. I was hoping on page 117 the Chief would step in to settle it.

Should add a game mode called classic slayer with only original abilities like a halo 3 team slayer.

> > > This whole post is based on opinion and either you like it or you don’t. Here’s a fact, the more factors and variables = greater skill dependency. end of fact, now for my opinion. Sprint was inevitable as much as boosting, quick switch in vehicles, and ledge climbing, in a progressively competitive game like the halo brand. if your tryng to shoot down a sprinter you might not get the kill if its not all headshots. if your being shot at and hit the corner out of sight, anything can happen. Depending on if you sprinted, when you started sprinting, and where you sprinted to. Maybe ill flank you, maybe ill wait for you and assassinate you. maybe I climbed up around that corner waiting to ground pound you. in all that time since you’ve lost sight you don’t know where am I, what I have, or what I’m gonna do. You can have a competitive game or you can game that keeps taking things in and out till everyone’s catered to. but you cant have both. shoutout to anyone who said sprint dosent have a place in competitive halo, I didn’t realize making the game easier means I’m a better player.

> so lets take boost for a variable example. your chasing a Spartan and he jumps, boosts back and 1 hits you. you can either get caught in that slick move or you can turn it back on him. now your saying with things sneakyer moves like this vs halo 1-3 it is not dependent on skill. bare in mind you have a split second to remember this dirty trick and react correctly before hes behind you. I know we’re mainly talking about sprint particularly but you mentioned variables very generally. so if I boost out of your shot while u don’t boost away from mine that’s not skill? no of course not because remembering all of your abilitys and how to use them in the split second it matters is of no consequence at all. yepp that’s right the harder a game is to compete at an mlg level has nothing to do with your skill level. thanks.

you mentioned variables generally, not me. I said nothing about boosting.

This. All I see is “I like sprint” and they said they do not need any reason why they think it helps Halo in good way. They never even tried to tell people why sprint is good for Halo, when another side tells you why sprint is bad for Halo.
