Ive been asking myself the same question. OP and the rest of you sprint haters, sprint is here to stay, its good for Halo. Now please can we have this thread taken down

> This whole post is based on opinion and either you like it or you don’t. Here’s a fact, the more factors and variables = greater skill dependency. end of fact, now for my opinion. Sprint was inevitable as much as boosting, quick switch in vehicles, and ledge climbing, in a progressively competitive game like the halo brand. if your tryng to shoot down a sprinter you might not get the kill if its not all headshots. if your being shot at and hit the corner out of sight, anything can happen. Depending on if you sprinted, when you started sprinting, and where you sprinted to. Maybe ill flank you, maybe ill wait for you and assassinate you. maybe I climbed up around that corner waiting to ground pound you. in all that time since you’ve lost sight you don’t know where am I, what I have, or what I’m gonna do. You can have a competitive game or you can game that keeps taking things in and out till everyone’s catered to. but you cant have both. shoutout to anyone who said sprint dosent have a place in competitive halo, I didn’t realize making the game easier means I’m a better player.

Untrue. Simply adding more variables does not increase a games dependency on skill. Those variable have to be a very particular kind in order to increase the dependency on skill.

There are plenty of things from past Halo games that people said were here to stay and are now gone, what makes sprint any different? Also please tell us how sprint is good for Halo? We are still waiting for someone to explain why it’s good for Halo’s gameplay.

100% okay with this

so lets take boost for a variable example. your chasing a Spartan and he jumps, boosts back and 1 hits you. you can either get caught in that slick move or you can turn it back on him. now your saying with things sneakyer moves like this vs halo 1-3 it is not dependent on skill. bare in mind you have a split second to remember this dirty trick and react correctly before hes behind you. I know we’re mainly talking about sprint particularly but you mentioned variables very generally. so if I boost out of your shot while u don’t boost away from mine that’s not skill? no of course not because remembering all of your abilitys and how to use them in the split second it matters is of no consequence at all. yepp that’s right the harder a game is to compete at an mlg level has nothing to do with your skill level. thanks.

I love the sprint in halo it’s awesome

Why would they remove it?

I don’t think sprint has anything to do with sales.

yea when there was 1 or 2 games out with it. Ive been with Halo since CE came out. A lot of you kids werent around and playing when the first 3 games dropped. There was only Halo and CoD. Yes there was other FPS games around, but when it came to story and multiplayer it was either Halo or CoD. I can remember whe sprin was first put in a cod game, it was CoD 3 i think? Anyways I couldnt help but think man if they would just add thiw to Halo, and ik there is other Halo vets that more than likely thought the same, and have leared to adapt to it being in Halo and love it.

So stop with the whole “Halo was the game everybody picked” Is it a false statement? Yes and No. These days Halo has a ton more to go up against that in the old days. The reason why is bc Halo has been the foundation for just about every FPS game thats came after it. Youve got CoD with its every six to twelve month releases, Destiney going into its third year and Destiney 2 coming out in 2017, Titanfall and Titanfall 2 thats about to come out, Battlefield 4 that has an insanely large population, plus Battlefield Hardline. Youve got Rainbow Six and soon youll have the new Ghost Recon, youve also got the Division, soon Battlefield 1 will be here, you can even add GTA 5 if ya wan since it has FP and Online, Gears of war 4 is coming out soon too so Halo has got a lot to continue to go up against. In my opinion nothing can beat Halo, but thats what I personaly thin as ive been here since day one.

Now to those crying and complaining that Halo is not Halo wity sprint and that it breaks the game and cause world hunger, I have this to say: Grow up, stop complaining for the sake of complaining, learn how to play the game with what it gives you, its not hard, if me and the other Halo vets can do it so can you. Ill give you the same advice i was given when I was going through my Firefighter training, its threefold.

  1. Adapt, imprivise, and overcome
  2. Think smarter not harder
  3. Suck it up buttercup

Its not that hard. Sprint is here to stay, get used to it, use it, become one with it.

No. There will just be more anti-sprint threads at a later date if this is removed. Wouldn’t you rather have one official thread instead of multiple threads about it?

> Halo 6 could be the game EVERYONE wants by removing sprint in campaign (yes because who the -Yoink- needs TWO movement speeds in campaign???) and
> arena multiplayer at first I thought a no sprint playlist might be optimal but hear me out. I pretty sure the new spartan abilities (save -Yoinking!- spartan charge) would be GENERALLY accepted in a halo game if they werent accompanied by sprint it would feel more competitive more strategic and would also still be recognizable to the fine tuned experience we got in halo 5. Warzone and customs would be a whole other beast entirely retaining ALL the features that made halo 5 successful would keep warzone great and would also allow more options for custom games, for those people that actually wanted to play in a sprint arena type setting they could actually fire up the in game custom game lobby adjust the filter and be good to go! lets face it, sprint has NO place in competitve halo and to argue that it does would just be absurd. this would allow arena maps to continue to be designed the PROPER way and please the vets and basically everyone whos willing to give it a chance and you wouldnt lose much of your sprint loving audience at all because there would still be sprint in the game it would just take a backseat!
> Thoughts? :3

I think sprint is a pretty cool feature and I use it all the time when I have to go 100+ meters at a time in a mission

That doesn’t answer anything that I asked, and I’ve been reading this tread for a long time now and I’ve yet to see a gameplay reason why sprint is needed or how it is good for Halo.

You want reasons as to why sprint is good for ya health? Listen up children this stuff is important. Back in my day (when Halo first came out) up until we got H5, there was no such thing as sprint in Halo. If you wanted to get to point B from Point A, you had to walk, or hop like a cute little bunny rabbit and pray that the sniper on the other side of the map didnt turn your head into a punch bowl. If you wanted to climb something or jump a far distance well forget it bc the was no sprint or clamber to insure you climed said object or crossed said gap. Now if i wanna get somewhere fast or get to a high vantage point or even outsmart players who still try to play H5 like is H1-3 or are unlucky and have tunnel vision ( P.s They also told me at the academy not to get tunnel vision) I can do this by sprinting, thrusting, climbing stuff, and knowing WHEN and WHERE to do it. LOCATION LOCATION LOCATION. Thats the problem with you cry babies, you play and think harder rather than smarter
