I believe Bungee or 343 already tried a classic mode before right? It didn’t go so well so they removed it. Not as many players were joining the playlist or something. I don’t have a problem with sprint, it takes me from here to there faster. don’t see why we should “makes things great again” when it its OK to begin with.

Halo 3 was my first Halo game, then ODST and then Reach. And I played the other Halos on the MCC. I still don’t get whats so wrong about having sprint. Though I will say that Halo Reach probably did sprint the best since it was a pickup/starting Loadout Armor Ability and you had to choose between that and a bunch of other abilities.

Speed is the trend. Look at the new Battlefield 1 beta gameplay footage. Crazy fast base movement speed. Looks like it’s Halo 5 with the Speed Boost armor mod. Then they add the bayonet charge and it’s just insane. I hope the speed in Halo stops at Halo 5. If Halo 6 is faster then it will be ruined for sure. What good is amazing graphics when you are blasting through maps at full sprint? I think Halo 5 is fine but it’s the very edge. No more please.
Yeah Um No, that is like the worst idea to improve halo with. how bout try something actually constructive like make the maps more open, or let it be more story driven, and lastly don’t be too afraid to go a little more dark and gritty with the game. sprint is a basic think that pretty much all games have and that halo is great with, and it is needed even more with the new ones since maps are getting bigger and bigger in the campaign. so try to be more constructive instead of: “i am not moving past my nostalgia and cannot accept change, take it back to the original game!!! o you won’t um um um o they added sprint in halo… THAT MUST BE WHAT IS WRONG, hmmm am i sure should i critically think about this nahh first thought is always right.”

You should take a good long read through this topic then if you haven’t seen any good answers.
Other games have sprint because it works well with the gameplay of those games. The fact that you don’t even consider that different shooters can’t all use the same mechanics just as well as every other shooter really highlights your ignorance on the matter.
I recently played with a group that plays on “halo 5 evolved” settings and I’ve got to tell you it felt soooooo much better than halo 5s normal settings. The lack of sprint and other abilities made for much more interesting encounters. For example if I was in the open and someone got shots on me I had 2 choices. Try to dodge around the corner hoping the enemies aim was off or push back and maneuver in ways that confused the other player and put shots on him. It was so much more a strategic game I urge everyone to try it.
Seriously everyone should try playing these settings and I guarantee you’ll feel nostalgic and wish these settings were the default ones.
I will say however it did feel a bit too fast because of the short TTK in halo 5 but I still highly recommend playing it.

He asked why sprint is good for Halo and you did not answer his question. Instead you are stating Halo should have sprint because other shooters have it. What is this logic? Is pro-sprinter’s ultimate goal is to make Halo into another generic shooter?

-We’ve already explained why we feel it isn’t good for Halo.
-Because other shooters choose to follow trends. We can’t control what developers decide to do with their games. Also because sprint blends better with their fundamental gameplay, and that those shooters are far more similar to each other in gameplay and concepts than they are to traditional Halo. Think of examples of shooters with sprint and the vast majority of them will probably be realistic millitary-focused shooters.

We are debating against people who keep trying to shove appeal to novelty fallacies down our throats. I.e. people who are claiming that something is better because it’s newer. Fair enough.
Well then there could be one easy solve. Once Halo 6 comes out 343 could/should do one thing. Instead of Arena/Warzone/Custom/Forge like in H5, they should do Modern/Old School/Warzone/Custom/Forge.
And then Modern is just all the stuff H6 comes with and Old School is all the playlists but with no abilities or load oats like H2 and H3. That could be cool.
Or you know, just don’t sprint while you play Halo 5.
Or play Halo 3/MCC lol

It doesn’t take you from here to there faster. They have to make maps bigger to accommodate sprint so you’re actually moving slower than the older halos without sprint. Js…lol. don’t see how people can’t realize that. Especially when truth is SOOO much bigger than midship

Ugh. I hate it when people say don’t sprint. Likeurdumb. Sprint effects map design. Weapon balance. Blah blah. All this crap. So pls. Think before you speak
Since so many people like to use food analogies here’s one for you. So you go to a restaurant you like and find out its ownership has changed but you go ahead and order your favorite dish which is a little different than before because the new owners altered the recipe, so you get angry and start telling them it’s horrible and you demand they change it back to the old one(which went through a few alterations as well) even though most other people are fine with it and others that weren’t just moved on to another restaurant.
