The sprint discussion thread

Why does everyone hate Sprint? It helps you get around the map quicker. There’s nothing wrong with that.

Skim through the topic and look for long and/or upvoted posts of people explaining why.

Sprinting is the best way to quickly get from one stronghold to the next when scrambling for points. If there was no sprint in halo 5, then defending teams would pick off incoming enemies way to easily. Gametypes like strongholds place importance on speed and decisive map navigation. Or in a slayer gametype to go support a teammate who calls for backup. If the general pace and kill times were slower in halo 6, then removing sprint might work. Sprint isn’t that bad in h5 either. shields don’t recharge while sprinting, and you have to wait a bit to pull up and fire your weapon.

The kill times also are comparable to h2, it’s really not a bad ttk and I don’t see that as an issue. Back to the pacing tho, it takes a few seconds to hit max speed for sprint, hit an engagement and the animation stops allowing the other player to get first shot, then if you decide to run, you activate animation and prolonge the engagement if you get away which then leaves the guy originally winning the fight to leave you be or risk chasing you as he then sprints after you unable to fire. He then catches up but only to then run into the loser of the earlier engagement having backup to support him and the two maul you down. It really isn’t upping the pace, it may feel like it, but it really doesn’t.

Being efficient and playing smart while neutralizing the opposing team giving you the time to cap the stronghold is faster. What will happen if you choose to sprint through me is I’ll have shots on you as you run by, then you make it to the stronghold only for me to then finish you off as you’re already hurt for running through/past me and your progress is already lost. As for the slayer “backup a team mate”, simple map position would allow me to back up team mates so long as they’re not -Yoinks!- who go to the other side of the map by themselves blocking me from having a view of him.

Does it keep you in the lobby after the match or do you have to go back and pick the gametype AGAIN to play the next match. Let me guess, it doesn’t. That’s a problem in it self. One that will probably never get fixed. I have videos of problems I have had over the summer. Last time I played. Maybe June. It WAS Still having issues with matchmaking. Go over to the MCC forum and people will gladly point on the problems.

I’m tired of casual players going in to play a few games, not noticing the obvious discrepancies from the originals (for example, the completely inconsistent Magnum in MCC H1) and then telling people who are actually paying attention that there is no problem. This isn’t even a matter of knowing the originals either. You know, like the way MCC FREQUENTLY breaks chat, requiring you to reset your mic. Like the way it will randomly kick you out of a lobby and break, requiring you to restart the game. People complain, because there are significant problems to complain about and ignorant apologetics from the likes of you will not change that.

Because you say it is so?
There’s no need to elaborate on why?

All of those listed as negatives I see as positives. It doesn’t matter which game forum I go to , no matter if its Gears, COD, Halo, Forza for that matter. There is always a group of people complaining because something is in the game and it affects how THEY play. IT puts them at a disadvantage so therefore Its considered bad. People are always wanting the game to be a certain way so they have the advantage period. To claim otherwise is not being honest. I will be honest, I love sprint for the very reasons that are listed as negatives above. Those reasons give me an advantage over people, hence why they are positives for me. It would just be nice if people would be honest once in a while.

Of course you don’t notice any bugs, you’ve only played 37 MP games in the MCC. There’s a pretty good chance you couldn’t tell the difference between a bug and something working the way it’s suppose to.

Sounds like all of your claims are “bull poop”.

Also, do think sprint is beneficial to Halos gameplay? Why or why not?

Here are three real example of problems
15 players get booted from lobby

game ends before it even begins
game ends before it even finishes loading

sprint, no sprint 343 will do what they want.

Bad maps, your opponents getting away with bad positioning when you should have had the kill and unfair spartan charge kills work for you? If so, I salute you, sir.

Players get away all the time, I just do my best to counter their moves. I don’t give it a lot of thought. I have found that if they get in a bad position and get away, they are likely to do it again giving me another shot at them and I will be better prepared. But I will gladly admit it also allows me to get out a of bad position like being double or triple teamed.

What does sprint bring to those gamemodes that improve on the experience and dont just take away from it?

Sprint adds more people if that counts. Halo has also been great. It was reported that it was doing better than halo 3. So theres gotta be something that was done right. The way sprint and the abilities work together makes a really good game.

What is actually wrong with sprint? It should have been there from the begining in my opinion. Spartans are super soldiers right? Spartan abilities are a great addition in my opinion because now i actually FEEL like a spartan!!

this thread is still going… really … get over yourself already and enjoy the game…

One thing I think they need to get rid of in the campaign is the revive system. I was surprised when I first got knocked down playing Halo 5, but I think they should keep sprint.

Halo 3 was the king back then now halo 5 is behind destiny minecraft madden and other garbage. weird how since sprint and abilities are in halo its popularity and rating are in decline. But reach had still a bit of halo and it was not a main entry.

One that will probably never get fixed. I have videos of problems I have had over the summer. Last time I played. Maybe June. It WAS Still having issues with matchmaking. go over the the MCC forum and people will gladly point on the problems.

I can tell you that your wrong right now because it isn’t supposed to keep you in the lobby, halo’s 1-3 never did because they weren’t supposed to and neither is the mcc. claiming otherwise is a flat out lie.

6000 posts later…sprint is still in the game.

You are the winner of the internet today. Best post I’ve seen today on anything.

Exactly. It reminds me of this time I bought vanilla ice cream for my wife and she was kind of mad asking, “why did you get vanilla, you know I hate vanilla”, so I told her, “it doesn’t matter, just enjoy it.” She looked at me like I was a -Yoinking!- idiot.

Side note: I’m not married and none of that happened. Hope my point got across though.
